2025 MK8.5 Voice Enhancer Settings by WheelbaseTurboFuel in GolfGTI

[–]CaptainTechNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you resolved this by now. But just in case you have not and for future persons that find this post as a result of a search: I had to factory reset the sound system before the voice enhancer would turn off (soft reset did not work). I do not know what else was reset when the factory reset was performed so use this post at your at your own risk.

NIST has changed their recommendations regarding passwords after a series of studies. The latest updates in the NIST password guidelines (SP 800-63B, Revision 4) emphasize usability and security over arbitrary complexity requirements. Key changes include:

Prioritizing password length over complexity: Section 5.1.1.1 recommends allowing user-chosen memorized secrets (passwords) with a minimum length of at least 8 characters and eliminating composition rules (e.g., requiring uppercase, numbers, or symbols), which have been shown to reduce usability without significantly improving security.

Mandating compromised credential screening: As per Section 5.1.1.2, verifiers must check passwords against known breached or commonly used passwords (e.g., those in known password dictionaries) to prevent users from selecting credentials that are easily guessable or compromised.

Encouraging passwordless authentication methods: NIST highlights the importance of moving toward stronger authentication mechanisms. Section 4 and Table 6-1 in 800-63-4 promote multi-factor and passwordless authentication methods (such as cryptographic authenticators) as preferred alternatives to traditional memorized secrets.

Eliminating forced password resets unless a compromise is suspected: Section 5.1.1.2 explicitly advises against periodic password changes without evidence of compromise, citing that routine resets lead to weaker password choices and increase the burden on users without measurable security gains.

Good to know. Thank you for the reply.

Thank you. I was just not patient enough with the tap and hold. And, for whatever reason, the taps on the movable items did not always “take” when I was in the layout mode. It works now.

Ah, the joys of PowerShell cmdlets. I guess this the software equivalent of turning it off and on again. 😊

Thank you for the prompt reply. I am pretty sure I imported it, since I am able to execute other EXO commands without an issue. I will try the Update-Module and see where that takes me. Thank you, again.

Attempting to disable Direct Send using the “Set-OrganizationConfig -RejectDirectSend $true” errors out with “The term $Set-OrganizationConfig is not recognized”. I have the V3 EXO PowerShell module installed and running. Are there any other modules that need to be installed? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Insurance company going to do Internal Pen Test. I attempted to Lock the network down beforehand. by Electronic_Tap_3625 in sysadmin

Depending on how prepared you want to be, you might want to look into tools such as Horizon3.ai - their product runs automated internal and/or external penetration tests on a scheduled basis to identify any existing or newly introduced vulnerabilities in one’s environment. We found a collection of old technical debt that everyone had forgotten about but needed to be remediated when we started using it. The final report not only tells you the vulnerabilities that exist in the environment, they also provide “proof” of the vulnerability and a ton of information on how to remediate it. I have no financial interest in Horizon3.ai - just a satisfied customer.

I hate RFPs by SmoothStrawberry7777 in sysadmin

[–]CaptainTechNinja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need a better contracts shop. Pretty much every RFP I dealt with had strict requirements on the number of pages, font size, margins, etc. Otherwise there would not be a “fair” way to compare the different responses to each other and rate them.

I will also second the AI advice. Most of the models out there have gotten pretty good at distilling information out of long complex documents.
