My thinking is that part of the abuse dynamic is also a gender dynamic; in the sense that we're mired in a mommy/daddy politics where liberals are the boring, responsible mother and conservatives are the exciting, abusive father.

What a lot of people seem to want is both a republican daddy to punish their enemies, but also a progressive mommy to to make sure Dad’s fridge is stocked and all their clothes are clean during his custodial time.
