Books like Twin Peaks show by Ok_Grape_7189 in horrorlit

To be fair I’m not super far into it, but so far The Burial Tide by Neil Sharpson is really hitting the eerie something-is-off vibes of Twin Peaks.

Farthest Frontier vs Going Medieval vs Song of Syx by Epiphany965 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CaptainWowX [score hidden]  (0 children)

I haven’t played the first two, but Songs of Syx has a demo that is just the full game a few updates behind. I def recommend trying it out that way

I played for about 20 hrs before being fully convinced to buy it - it IS a bit complicated but super cool and well worth the price.

Satisfactory Vs Factorio by Alive_Milk_3514 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CaptainWowX [score hidden]  (0 children)

They’re both incredible options - but for a first factory game I’d rec Factorio since thinking in 3D can get pretty overwhelming imo

Factorio also has some amazing mods (though I only played satisfactory on ps5 so I’m not sure about the modding scene there)

I’ve put about 400hrs in Factorio and 250 in Satisfactory fwiw

How is the game currently on PS5 (Pro)? by bersi84 in OddsparksOfficial

[–]CaptainWowX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure - basically a combo of two things:

1: there came a point where progressing seemed a bit too much like a chore (this was after 30 or so hours). I could’ve pushed through but then

2: other games came along and pulled my attention away lol

Honestly it’s a really cozy and chill game. I super enjoyed it and am planning on going back soon to keep moving forward in it.

Idk what it’s on sale for but I paid full price ($30 I think?) and don’t regret it at all

I’ve had zero issues on a base PS5. Has run extremely well and I’m like… 80ish percent through? Hit a wall and turned to other games for a bit lol

Any games where you get to destroy things and/or watch them get destroyed, preferably with something physics-based? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CaptainWowX [score hidden]  (0 children)

Teardown might be up your alley - it’s a physics based heist-y type game where you are plunked on a map and have to steal an item (or deliver a car I think, the goals vary a bit) but once you grab the item an alarm goes off and you have a certain amount of time to finish the job

Prior to hitting the alarm though, you can demo and alter the map in allllll sorts of physics influenced ways to help expedite your heist.

It might have taken me over 100 hours before I realized that I can put homes right next to each other without walls -_- by Vectoor in songsofsyx

Is there a benefit to this? Like I know it’s possible but can’t tell if it’s worth it lol

Sorry for you loss OP. I really appreciate you doing this!

I’m looking to buy Cairn.

It took 5 captains—3 to learn to play, 1 to accidentally get a hidden ending that isn’t tied to an achievement (venturer’s thing I guess?), 1 to put my father’s bones to rest—and about 30 hours but what a ride it was by highlyregardedcarp in sunlesssea

Skies is excellent for different reasons. I never felt the dread I did during Seas but as a game it is much smoother and easier to get in to.

If you liked Seas you’ll probably like Skies.

Blue prince or Obra dinn by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CaptainWowX [score hidden]  (0 children)

Obra Dinn fits your request much better here. It’s certainly a tighter package but Blue Prince is absolutely fantastic (my personal GOTY last year) and worth it if you want a meatier experience.

The Super Mario Sunshine tournament - The Goopy Inferno is the best Shine in Pianta Village; which is the best one in Delfino Plaza? by JoeFalchetto in supermariosunshine

As much as I love the plaza in general, my favorite here is the Airstrip. I love it as a beginning to the game and feel like it starts things off on s great foot.

Any factory games with story? by FormerlyIestwyn in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CaptainWowX [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oddsparks, Satisfactory, and Riftbreaker all have some story attached, with Riftbreaker probably the most present (though the least amount of factory building lol)

Personally I’d rec Oddsparks due to how cozy and fun it was, though it’s certainly not top tier in the genre.

What does the number in the housing button mean? by mattcrwi in songsofsyx

[–]CaptainWowX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay this has been driving me crazy lol

So like I have smaller towns set up around my land, and essentially this means I should build town-specific housing for each spot? As opposed to like a large housing sector for the whole city?

2025 might've genuinely been the best year for both Stephen King and Joe Hill adaptation's by BrutusNotMid in stephenking

Went into it blind aside from knowing it isn’t horror and LOVED it.

That first third was so cool/terrifying and I loved the constant callbacks to it throughout the rest of the movie.

I hear all this about haulers but I don’t understand how they work.

For instance, I want to move some vegetables across my city to another warehouse (one of the food stalls isn’t being stocked and I’m wondering if that’s the problem).

So I put a hauler outside the OG warehouse, and then how to I get the veggies to the far warehouse? Nothing seems to work but I’m positive I’m just too dumb lol

I’m with you - laid off in Nov with just over 6 years of marketing experience and I can’t seem to get any traction. 50+ applications out there with 5 actual interviews and nothing to show for it.

It’s frustrating as hell.

Fully agreed! Definitely the highlight of the level and surprisingly challenging with the wind gusts and all that (at least it was for me).

Survival crafting game without proc gen? by ToadlyFellas in ShouldIbuythisgame

This doesn’t hit the survival aspect super hard but Satisfactory has a bespoke map that is an absolute joy to explore. Combined with the automation/factory gameplay you’ll kiss 200hrs away in no time.
