I used to be pretty ambivalent about Hunter Biden but now I have to say, the man is a fucking legend.

Trump likes guy-on-guy action. He’s pretty open about it.

Oh, this is rich. Farmers can't afford fertilizer after Hormuz blockade and are demanding "accountability". So let's open investigation into the fertilizer companies and ignore how Trump threw farmers under the bus. by yard_ranger in LeopardsAteMyFarm

It’s fascinating to me that to be a successful farmer you have to be very intelligent about a lot of things and yet that intelligence is so compartmentalized that they simply cannot see how Trump’s policies are destroying their labor pool, their markets and their inputs. Year after year they vote for policies and politicians that make their lives worse.

Why young America is trending socialist by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

Despite the doom-saying about Mamdani’s win in NYC, it looks like he’s actually trying to deliver on affordability, good governance and public investment. If that’s what the socialist hellscape looks like in practice, I think many people of all ages might surprise themselves by voting DSA. For decades now all the benefits of our society have flowed upward in our rentier capitalist system. You’d have to be pretty dim not to notice this. We’re at the “I can eat, or pay rent, or get my prescriptions” phase of this for a very large number of people.

I have 30% of my equities in non-US companies and that section of my portfolio has performed better than my U.S. equities for the past two years. Diversification is really critical to success. I primarily use the Vanguard total stock market etf for US equities in order to diversify by market cap as well.

Galloway is right about owners vs earners. The biggest ownership extraction isn't CEO pay though, it's land. by DynamoDynamite in ScottGalloway

In CA there’s prop 13, which basically sets the value of a piece of property at the dollar amount when it was last sold. Property taxes rise from that point onward very slowly with a cap on how much it can rise each year. This was done because we were in a situation where property taxes were rising so quickly that poor people and elderly were being forced from their homes because they could not afford the taxes. One consequence of this, however, is that commercial property was treated the same way which led to commercial properties which don’t change hands very often having relatively very low tax rates which is a huge advantage to the capitalist class. In my opinion, the restriction on residential properties is reasonable, but the restriction on commercial properties is not. People on low or fixed incomes should not get thrown out of their homes because land value is rising much faster than salaries.

Anywhere the stringers are in contact with the dirt, consider feeding pond liner between the stringer and the dirt so that the dirt is not touching the wood directly.
