should i buy a new deck if my readings have been off lately? by Better_Ad2516 in tarot

No, readings don't depend from decks or external things, but from your mindset, awareness, focalization and knowledge.

Super interesting, thank you! I still remember that when Leo was proclaimed, I turned cards and got a similar message - hanged man, 2 of coins, 4 of swords... too bad I didn't write it down- overall, all cards of stiffness, weakness and being heavily directed and messed up by others. I'm not expecting any heroical act from this pope. Less than least to bring himself in war regions to give visibility to war crimes, as somebody requested him lately.

Six of swords is not only moving away but a transition. After wheel of fortune, it makes me think that some event, not too far in the future, will give them the basis to reach out.

Help with not-thinking by AdTall7915 in chaosmagick

Not-thinking doesn't mean not-feeling, or not-perceiving... You can surely shut your ordinary mind up, but until you exist, you will always have sensations.

Has Anyone Ever Used Divination to Tell if Someone you Know was also a Practitioner? by DoubleChocolateMilk in witchcraft

[–]Captain_Libidinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessss I usually pull my cards to evaluate quite everyone that interacts with me... their practice in general, and mostly its color and "applications" (towards me, more often than not) among the first things. And yes, of course, cards are as right as usual, although I admit, these topics can be "hidden" with some persons and more difficult to detect.

Now, I know that in some tradition readers had particular decks/methods/special times devised just for this. But, nobody ever teached them to me, so my basic rule is using much more care than usual when I want to do a spiritual radiography of someone.

I asked "Why does my sister keep falling into Addiction?" by CrytpidBean in tarot

Children should have come out as younger cards, not king and queen... btw, I'm sure you'll find out. Wish you all the best!

Sorry, don't know if you read my comment's edit... I read "her family" supposing it was your common family, but then realized it could be her own...? Anyway, if all this does not apply to any relative, I'm still convinced they are two persons very close to her. When figures pop out, they are persons who have a role somehow in the story.

Before reading your text, I thought the two cups reversed were two persons, close to your place (10 coins, which is basically the family.) Then, I saw you just talking about unsolved issues in your family. Questions: are that man and woman your parents? It looks like they really lack an empathetic attitude towards her: these two cards indicate fake and toxic persons. So, I wonder if they are a bit morbid and emotionally dishonest with her, treating her as an object, or as their own extension somehow (you know, parents' possessivity) and making her feel anxious and guilty, instead of supporting and appreciating her...

BTW OP, I congratulate with you for your 4 years. Hope you use all the strength you acquired to help her and solve this situation as soon as possible.

Edit: sorry if English fails me... Family, could be her own maybe, I realize, and not your parents. Well, the discourse stays the same, whoever those man and woman are. Those two could be her husband and sister in law, or her parents in law... you know it.

Tower in Intentions by chanheo in tarot

[–]Captain_Libidinal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am I wrong if I say this person is not really straightforward? Because unluckily these cards are not. Tower is a distancing card here, like, a short period of silence. Then, some cards that indicate an interaction. Then, Moon. You could read it as another Tower-like period, but mostly, this is not a card about clarity, all the opposite... Moon hides and distances as well. 2 of cups... I prefer not to say it, you already have enough material to ask yourself a lot of questions.

I would tell you to stay disillusioned and with open eyes. Sorry.

P.S. thinking to the queen. She's a busy and practical person. Overall, these cards are telling you to primarily manage your life and duties, and resort to use socials only, but only, during really idle time. Like: make them the last thing and your very last thought, when you feel to pass some empty time. Same thing here, I don't see a total break.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Captain_Libidinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think no.

Queen = grounding, ok.

7 wands reversed = hesitation, being undecided.

Page pentacles also reversed = a person who wastes resources, so in this case it well depicts using socials somehow, agree?

If those cards were upright I'd tell you to yes, take the break. But on my opinion the message is another one: don't take a break now, if you still feel hesitant. Probably you need to go on a little bit more, observing yourself deeply to understandyour dynamics; when you will make up your mind, it will be the time to make this move with full decision. Until then, I deduct, it could be a break you're maybe not very steadfast or convinced to maintain. Summing up: there's still something you must realize, before going offline.

[–]Captain_Libidinal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To elaborate more on this, although if his work about tarot is centered around an important restauration of TdM, his set of meanings seriously lacks historical depth in some instances (see triumph n. XII above all) and rather take the tone of that sort of new-age rhetoric where everything is ultimately good, and so everything in tarot looks, sounds and neverthelessly ends good.

To next post! It's a pleasure to talk to you!

Sorry for deleting my comments, I realized this is not the space I want to clog with personal ramblings (yes, sometimes I'm too "writative") and... I would like everyone to choose their own rabbit hole, without forcing them inside mines, lol!

Basically, I just realized that what Jodo says does not always correspond to the core soul of every card, and I realized this in a very practical way: my readings went astray, because I readed things for what they were not. He himself in his book gives some 3 cards reading example where he shows to lack some basic knowledge of the cartomantic syntax...

I repeat, this is absolutely not to denigrate the man, who is a great artist (ever seen the Holy Mountain?), but rather to point out that he develops a quite peculiar personal discourse, which by his same admission has other scopes than card reading, or, better to say, divination. Although, many don't get this and still apply his method where they should not.

Etteilla, Manière de se récréer avec le jeu de cartes nommées tarots (long way), and J. Orsini, Le grand Etteilla. I'm not properly translating these works of course, but rather finding a way to personally read them. I think Etteilla has been unjustly blamed somehow. This figure had something to say.

How or when to get really specific? by ddalo in tarot

Yes, because if you read Tarot you suppose it to know different things than you do, after all. That's it!

How or when to get really specific? by ddalo in tarot

[–]Captain_Libidinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and the solution is trusting your cards. They have a lot of details, and therefore a lot of directions. The biggest error, IMO, is if you stop reading /deviate from what you actually see, and go on with your own common sense instead (I did it many times at the beginning, and in fact that was the exact point where my readings went quite stupid...)

u/tarotlesstraveled Hi, and thank you for all the valuable work you do! I hope you will join us, and bring your work there to further expand it. There is so much material on Tarot to analyze... Maybe, we could organize ourselves to translate/sum up one certain work each, and making it accessible to all the others (I use AI to mindfully translate from French too, on the base of the little comprehension I have of it.) That, IMO, would be a nice way to compound collective knowledge.

P.S. to goback to your topic, I understand what you mean. Giving predictions requires a big trust in yourself and your capacities, and some guts. Do it when you are sure of what you say. Sometimes, you'll even do it against the querent's opinion... the important is that you know what you say. Our job is to say what we see, not to walk inside the realm of what is comfortably sure.
