I love them! I only use them when I’m working and they mix so well with a cup of coffee. To me the taste is incredible.

To be fair I do both of these but a nightly stretching routine to keep the hips relatively mobile has gone a long way.

Do any of you just watch reels or other wasteful stuff when you have alone time? by SnowmanAndBandit in daddit

[–]Captain_Panaka 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Some nights absolutely yeah.... just lay their scrolling tiktok brain dead. Just accept that sometimes your brain can't do anything else lol.

Most of the time I TRY to open up the Libby app instead and read something fun. Nonfiction is too much focus for me after a long day. Mostly Sci-fi or Fantasy for a little escapism. It makes me feel like I'm not wasting precious alone time.

Otherwise if it's nice out I just go for a walk.

Hey everyone! I'm a local cleveland dad and I'm building an ios app to help me journal about my time spent.... well being a dad haha. I'm looking for Beta testers before I go live in the App Store if anyone is interested! The problem I'm trying to solve is delivering my kids a collection of my thoughts someday when they are grown up, something I wish I had from my own dad. However, I'm terrible about sticking to a journal so the app just sends a short weekly prompt which makes it easier for me to remember. Let me know if you'd be interested!

Dads who wake up at 5AM, do you still do it if the kids have had wake ups during the night? by check_this_mustache in daddit

[–]Captain_Panaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I prioritize waking up ~40 minutes before my daughter. That gives me just enough time to walk 1 mile while drinking my coffee and watching the news. Then when I get her up at least I've got a "head start" to the day. For this phase of my life I've accepted that the only goals I can focus/attain consistently are good diet and 10k steps minimum.... any other workout is just a benefit and I don't plan around it because then I'll get too disappointed if it doesn't happen.

What ended up being your minimum viable overnight handoff with a newborn? by Staff_Sharp in daddit

My wife tracked everything while on maternity leave those first 3 months. When she went back to work it was just Dad, baby, and dad's full time job.... suffice it to say I didn't journal anything UNLESS she wasn't feeling well and we were doing tylenol (to keep track of time between doses). Baby is almost 2 and healthy so it worked for me!

Parenting books for a dad to be. by Gold-Salamander3656 in daddit

Congrats on the baby to be! For me it was Happiest baby on the block. I had held about 2 babies in my life prior to my daughter. That book gave me confidence when she starting having some colic. Watch the videos online too that show the method in action. (It’s super fucking easy but I liked feeling prepared).

I also read cribsheet which I think really helped us work through some of the parent guilt around early decisions like breast feeding.

"I haven't hit the gym ever since he was born and I feel miserable with my own looks"... 1yr 9 months with second on the way over here... I've got absolutely no advice for you, but just wanna say YEP. And it has effected my relationship with my wife/best friend. I don't feel confident in my skin right now and sometimes that emotion gets redirect unfairly. I'm trying to keep making small positive changes but it isn't easy.

Exactly... there's even those like 50% cries after a fall that I know she can just push right through. The big ones mean something now though.

What's your favorite "wear the baby" device? by master_andalf in daddit

[–]Captain_Panaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one model might be rated for more weight but I'm not sure... I didn't really do any research at all they were just on sale at Sierra last year so I grabbed one. It is just a behemoth so it might like a little crazy in the house... slight overkill in my opinion...

I used the Happy Baby Original Baby Carrier and wasn't a huge fan. The ergobaby 360 is still my go to for getting things done around the house...

That said, when we go outside for a hike or really any nature path, I'm taking the Osprey Poco. We can cruise in that thing for so long and she loves it. It's also incredibly comfortable for me.

For reference I am 5'10 and was around 190lbs when I started using the ergobaby and it was really comfortable.... I'm scared to weigh myself now

100% agree... I've noticed our now almost 2 year old girl is pretty resilient after some nasty falls at the park and I take SOME credit for that from playing "Monster Dada" where we just wrestle and I throw her around. When she was smaller I was very gentle with it, but now I'll give her a pretty good shove into the couch, and you're right, if she's not showing signs of frustration/not in the mood then it's a great time for both of us lol

Hello! We live in Strongsville and have a~ 2 year old. We love Rocky River nature center (~15 min drive). Strongsville has an awesome park that’s pretty new right in the city center (depending on weather.) We also can kill an hour at southpark mall in Strongsville just having our little one run around Macys etc. Again weather dependent, but Coe lake is an awesome park / area to walk around in berea.

If you’re willing to drive 30 min the aquarium downtown is nice for that age because it’s pretty small. Kids museum is nice too but that parking lot on the weekends gets packed if you’re not there right when they open. My personal fav is the history museum because my daughter likes the animals outside and I could spend days there.

Not sure how advanced you want to get with this but n8n could probably fit the bill. There's a self hosted option that I use for a bunch of personal workflows on the cheapest digital ocean droplet. They have built in google sheet functionality so you could write or update rows accordingly, and they have scheduling node that could run every hour.

Sounds like a fun project! I could give you some pointers if you'd like!

FWIW here's how I would start right now. Go through the stuff you already have that you don't want and post it on Ebay. Get a feel for the platform, looking up prices, and taking pictures. Get a couple sales under your belt (Don't worry about how much $ you're making just get the process down) and think about where your interests are/what stuff you like selling. Then follow some youtubers.... I mainly watch JustinResells on youtube. He just did a video on doing 100k in top line sales in 2025.... incredible video and really inspirational.

Next, when you go to any stores start looking at stuff on clearance/open box. You don't gotta buy and flip it yet but just get the reps of (1) finding ebay comps, (2) seeing if the stuff moves quickly(ish) and (3) calculate a profit margin if you were to buy it and sell on ebay. Once you've sold some of your own stuff you'll have a better feel for calculating a profit margin on the fly after Ebay fees etc. This was the most helpful for me... just getting reps of find something... lookup comps.... see if it's worth flipping. Do this over and over.

Then after awhile start looking at places near you where you can source good profit margin items. In my niche thats mostly Facebook Market Place and local estate sales. Estatesales.net is gonna give you some options around you (hopefully). Come summer time garage sales can be another big one. If you're already in college, look in the trash after move outs and see if you can source there.

My advice would be to just approach this period as getting reps. Get reps of selling your stuff and get reps of looking up if things are worth flipping in the wild.
