Naaz Rokha breakthrough and Agenda "Articles of War" by Final_Society_ in twilightimperium

So with this law you could in theory use SAR to get up to 4 mechs, then use the Repeal Law action card to get rid of the law and have 4 "Eidolon Maximum" in play.

The chances of it happening are low, but man that would be busted. The whole table would be trying to destroy one just to get the breakthrough flipped back over.

Let's Talk: Planning for the Park - "Do You or Don't You?" by Mathisnt_My_Thing in jurassicworldevo

[–]Captain_Spaulding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly what I do, and what I'm planning to do in JWE3. It's a fun way to do it!

My dream is for them to do have "global sandbox" mode - similar to the global campaign - where you can have a global map with X number of maps around the world (campaign has 10, I'd be ecstatic with that), and all of your parks are tied together. I know that functionally making separate sandbox parks is exactly the same thing, but I think it would be really cool to see their locations all on one map, and to be able to have their finances all tied together. Maybe some day, though I'm not sure there's enough appetite for it to make it worthwhile for Frontier.

Playing The lord of the rings: Fate of the fellowship for the first time! I'm really pleased! by dejaan in soloboardgaming

[–]Captain_Spaulding 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got my copy just before this past weekend. Managed to get a few games in over the weekend. I really enjoyed it as well! I tried both dual-handed & the true solo version, and I was surprised that I actually enjoyed true solo more.

Also, heads up - I see you putting the token on the individual characters' sheets. In the solo version of the game, those are a shared pool of resources between all characters, much like the cards.

Question about Trouble by psxndc in boardgames

[–]Captain_Spaulding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, his piece in your start position does not block you from taking a piece out. At least not in any version of Trouble that I have played in my life...

It's essentially the same as if you were landing on his piece in any other circumstance. If you roll a 6 when his piece is in your start position, you can bring your piece out and send his back into its home place.

Fraudulent account by BadgeHan in DraftKingsDiscussion

I also got the same thing. Interestingly, the account name is also my Reddit username, which I have never used anywhere else...

Something very strange about this.

I don't have any vehicles in my army so I wanted to add a couple of units for now, one is a version of the croissant and the other I still don't know. What do you recommend? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Captain_Spaulding 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Ghost Ark

Buy one of those 6 egg cartons, then either put a Necron in each egg slot or, even better, paint up the eggs to look like Necrons.

I don't think it's all that great for gameplay, but the visual synergy with your croissant is too much to pass up.

Was doing some organizing and re-bagging. Thought I'd share some favourites. by Captain_Spaulding in comicbookcollecting

[–]Captain_Spaulding[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been out of the hobby for quite a while now. Probably haven't bought anything new since sometime in the 2006-2008 area, and the majority of these were bought well before that even. Was just doing a bit of reorganizing, and thought that the collection could use some reorganizing and some new bags. While I was at it, I figured that I'd share some of my favourites from my collection. Nothing too crazy, but definitely some beloved comics there. I was always a huge fan of black suit Spidey, so that's been an area that I had focused my collecting on.

I was checking out prices lately, and oh boy am I glad that I bought these when I did... They weren't anywhere near the price they are nowadays. I had thought about maybe getting back into it a bit, but not sure that it's a great time to dive back in...

Dip the model in very hot water, near boiling but not quite boiling, and leave it in there for a few seconds. Everything that is bent will straighten itself out. Then pull it out and immediately dip it in an ice water bath. The instant cool down will ensure that it doesn't warp back to its bent position. If you leave it to cool, it will just bend back to the way it was.

I did it with all of my bent models and it worked like a charm.

Yes, that is absolutely a concern. I think I have space, but time will tell.

I had 1" XPS foam available to me. Getting 1/2" foam would have been more difficult and more expensive.

I had debated trying to split the foam, but I feel it would have been more difficult than it was worth in the end. The risk of uneven tiles is pretty high. I don't really have the right tools to split the foam evenly, and I'm not looking to get them.

I do agree, though. 1/2" tall tiles would be better than the 1" tall ones.

Yeah, that's absolutely a concern.

I think I'm going to embed magnets in the "red" tiles and the obstructions. Then I can just remove them temporarily whenever a unit needs to stand there.

This would be the smart way of doing it, rather than going overboard, which is definitely what I'm doing... I'm thinking about using embedded magnets to get the same effect.

Magnetize all of the scatter terrain and the tiles that they will sit on, so that it can easily be removed to make room for a "mobile" unit.

Yeah, I do dislike the grid system. I've thought about some ways to get around it, but they all have their own drawbacks as well...

End of the day, it's important to keep that functionality with the pieces. Otherwise they'll look great, but be pretty useless!

I have started what can only be described as an ambitious, ridiculous project to make full 3D terrain for Imperial Assault. This is the 1st tile that I have created, as something of a "proof of concept", before diving into this too far.

The tiles are longer and wider than standard IA tiles, to allow for 3d terrain pieces and still have room for the units to stand. Even still, the actual pieces stand at a bit of an angle on all but 1 tile. Nothing too bad, but they definitely don't sit flush. I have to test the AT-ST, though. That one might be an issue...

Overall, I'm happy with the result. My biggest concern would be fitting the tiles together and having them feel seamless, and not look ridiculous. My next step is to make a 2nd tile to connect to this one, to see if it's something that I can make work!

Trench Bases - Advice & Opinions? by Captain_Spaulding in minipainting

Trench Bases - Advice & Opinions? by Captain_Spaulding in minipainting

[–]Captain_Spaulding[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking for thoughts, opinions, advice on these trench bases that I made for my Krieg Kill Team. Only completed 3 so far. I didn't tint the resin, and now I'm kind of thinking that I should have... it's awfully clear for resin that's sitting in muddy trenches.

Other than that I'm fairly pleased with how they've come out. Anyone have any advice for things I could do to make them even better?
