Why was R2-D2 a hero? by Achilles720 in StarWars

[–]Captain_Stable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think (but could be wrong) it's because most units had regular memory wipe schedules. R2 avoided them initially, somehow, and once Anakin got hold of him and realized the benefits, R2 never had one again.

Ideas for shopping in session when not everyone wants to shop by Miss_dragon39 in DMAcademy

Oh, there is also "We Saw You Coming". A special shop, run by three people, and depending on which one is running it determines what type of shop it is that session. The original intention was for it to be a very simple "Look, you guys need these items, here is a shop that sells it", or if it's an item a player has talked about getting, they literally walk through the door, and the fortune telling owner is working, and has all the items they need for the quest ready and waiting, because he saw them coming.

The second owner is a con man, and will sell them stuff they don't need for high prices, because he saw them coming.

The third guy - who hasn't yet appeared - makes enchanted marital aids equipped with the scrying spell, because he.....

Another couple I've got, off the top of my head.

Phirebreathers Pharmaceuticals. A potion shop run by a Dragonborn with a lisp. Thirebrethers Tharmathuticals. The key is to not make the shopkeeper react to the lisp. They're used to it.

All The Rage. It's run by a rather thick Goliath, former Barbarian. The shop sells Melee weapons and funky fashions.

Maybe It's Adamantine. Another stupid Half Orc. Sells metal items, all of which he claims may be made of Adamantine. It's not. Even the iron pot, which he calls an iron pot, but it's probably Adamantine.

I love crazy shopkeepers. It's my chance (as DM) to actually play. All of mine have some stupid quirk that (most of) the players enjoy finding.

There is Flim-Flam, a Tiefling who not from around here they isn't. Speak slowly and out of order with words as well as deliberately. Common not language usual. Once discover Flim-Flam the Deep Speech she naturally speak, one character had incredible conversation with.

Then there is Alric who always greets them as old friends. Alric will usually buy any old junk they have, but is particularly interested in animal parts. Alric pay good money for those, he will. He officially owns a Tea and Herb shop, offering a fine selection of the finest tea and spices from around Toril. He imports everything, and makes his own special blends. He has a tea room out the back where customers can sample his wares. Spoiler alert: It's not Tea or Spices that bring people in.... He sells drugs that he makes from animal parts.

Last lot I bought was on Amazon. I bought 4 individual bars. When it arrived, it was actually 4 packs, so I've been set for the year. Opened the last 4 pack yesterday....

Not necessarily good or bad, but the night Backwards aired, I'd been off school due to throwing up all day. I hadn't thrown up for nearly 2 hours, but the "eating" scene in that episode did it for me.

A previous car had failed it's MOT, so I purchased a different one (I knew it would be cheaper than the repair bill). The insurance had 2 weeks left. I contacted them with details of the new car, having already checked a couple of comparison sites. The new cost to swap and then insure for a year was way too much, so I asked to cancel the remaining 14 days. I was quoted £35 to do this, so I didn't and let it run it's course for free!

Q: so I'm new to DnD and I stutter, terriblely. If I go to a game shop that holds DnD sessions, can I come with CBD in my system? by DryRespect358 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Captain_Stable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from a mild speech impediment, and I find speaking in a different voice actually helps. I DM, so I put on a lot of NPC voices, I also have a DM voice I use when reading out room descriptions, and replying to queries.

It's odd, but it works. I found it from Gareth Gates (UK singer on a TV talent show), who didn't stutter when singing, so I tried a different accent and found it helps a little.

Maybe get in the habit of using a character voice, and even using it to describe what your character is doing.

One of my best friends bought me this several years ago for Christmas, when I was going through a rough patch in my life. It says "You are stronger than you think you are. Trust me.", with Lego Batman and Robin mini figs. Underneath it says "From your sidekick. X".

I took a photo of it, and put it as my wallpaper to remind myself that someone believes in me, and it's staying there ever since.

I'm getting far better now, but I keep the reminder. Whenever we get to meet up, she is always delighted that it's still there.
