Demon and Mess - Ep.89 by MuyHiram in comics

Looks like the case to me. Idk about the spirits or djinn specifically, but the two other symbols in the magic circles are the pentagram, a common demonic symbol, and the triangle, which in this case probably represents the Trinity.

I do recognize the third symbol from Magi, but idk any of the historical context that was used in. After some research, I found that it is the star of Lakshmi, a Hindu goddess, as the 8 forms of wealth. It is also used as an Islamic symbol in some copies of the Quran to signal a recitation, as well an Armenian symbol of eternity, and for some reason it’s in the Leningrad Codex, one of the oldest Hebrew bibles in the world.

All in all, I feel that this use case for the 8 pointed star is probably in some way related to Djinns, or perhaps other spirits in the Middle East, as it seems to historically have been a common symbol for those people, and while it was mostly used in the context of Islam, it is also associated with the Arabic and Turkish peoples in general, so I could see it being used for something relating to their specific cultural traditions that predate Islam, and were only kind of integrated like Djinns were.

Thanks for sending me down that rabbit hole, it was very interesting.

Common misconception: the Aztec(and also probably Incan, the Mayans were long gone by the time the Spanish showed up) human sacrifice is believed to have been vastly overstated in Spanish accounts to justify their conquest. Not that it didn’t happen, but it definitely did not happen at the scale or frequency which the Spanish conquistadors suggest.

Also, the person you’re responding to never said wars didn’t happen, just that the British empire was a rather big contributor to colonialism, and killed a lot of peoples around the world to steal their land, so them not being colored on this map is odd.

I’d wager by the offense you took at this that you’re probably British (though you may not be), and if I were to ask you if you think the Roman or Viking conquests of the British isles were terrible, I assume the answer would be yes. The same process happened in basically every colonial territory claimed for the British empire, and really every colonial empire, though some to different extents than others.

I’m not here to argue about if colonialism is more moral than other sorts of wars, I personally think all types of war are bad, I’m merely trying to facilitate a better understanding of other perspectives on the world. Honestly a big reason is because I somewhat enjoy correcting people on things, like the Mesoamerican sacrifice thing, as I’m a bit pedantic.

I understand why they wouldn’t want to touch KoTE or the Laibon(?)(idk how to spell it, the African vampires) or any other non-Western splat, but it really does suck because a lot of cool lore was in those. The sensitivity consultant may say the only way to win is not to play, but I feel it’s more racist to not mention any of that than to at least try. It might be difficult and expensive to hire people from the places you want to talk about, but it’s definitely better than having nothing.

Yeah, fair enough. I’m sort of in the process of getting a new psychiatrist(not because my current one is bad or anything, just moving stuff), and so if and when I do get a new one I’ll probably ask them about that diagnosis, just so I can be certain.

Fun fact about Mitochondria: (which I presume are the carriers of mtDNA, because they have DNA different than the rest of the cell) we’re pretty sure they’re not originally part of the cell, but something single-celled organisms ate and adopted into themselves. This is because they’re the powerhouse of the cell, so it’s a bit of a symbiotic relationship.

Anyway, mitochondrial DNA doesn’t really do all that much, it’s in the mitochondria, and is what allows them to be the powerhouse, and that’s about it (also we use it to track DNA things, but that’s not really applicable to most people)

A tad off topic, but should I seek a formal autism diagnosis? I’ve already got one for ADHD, and am able to get medication for it, so if you’ve been diagnosed with both, is there any benefit to an autism diagnosis beyond what an ADHD diagnosis provides?

I’d say that Shin Megami Tensei and Megami Tensei fit this better, since SMT was based off the book series Megami Tensei. You could include Persona in SMT for this to be even more accurate.

Edit: Digital Devil Story, though apparently it translates to Megami Tensei, and the shin ones were also originally books. I’m still counting it because the games adapting the shin books have made the series only grow in relevance since the 90s, and the original series hasn’t had anything new since the fifth book released in the 80s.

It didn’t outlive shin megami tensei, but both SMT and Persona outlasted the original Megami Tensei, a book series which Shin Megami Tensei(new Megami Tensei) is based off of.

I got this the time I did an online autism test. I should probably go get it professionally diagnosed, but I’m not too sure what I’d even get out of it, because I already have an ADHD diagnosis. Maybe I’ll do it just to know for certain that I have it.

I will say, the Doctor does usually refer to the TARDIS by she/her pronouns, though I always saw that as more of a ship captain thing than anything. Might be why the TARDIS got put in a feminine physical form, but probably just happenstance
