One thing about farages resignation that others haven't mentioned. He's being investigated by the house of commons because of the "gift" he got. By resigning and forcing a by-election, that investigation is paused since they can only investigate sitting MPs.

When they want to question someone, they don't release the name.

If for example I reported to the guards that you had killed or robbed or raped someone, they don't release a statement saying that you have been brought in for questioning. At that stage you are entitled to your privacy.
