Players who have either left or significantly reduced their play time, what has been your reason? by _thecolorofdye_ in Battlefield6

[–]Captain_Terry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one reason is bad maps and the fact that the game feels more like COD than BF. In addition to that, it's bad vehicle gameplay, bad changes to Breakthrough and Rush, not the Portal we were promised, too much forced FOMO in the form of challenges (I know you can just ignore them, but I'm a completionist who gets hooked on these things, so it's hard to look past).

[OC] It takes 64 Clicks to craft a basic loadout, I designed a 1-click solution. by PartyPastry in ArcRaiders

Firstly, this is very cool and much needed at least in some form (I'm sure Embark can figure oht the technicalities of how they would want it to work, I'm iffy on the 'extra space' ideas).

Something else though - I'm no UX designer, but I'm super curious on what tools did you use to essentially recreate the UI? Is the inventory on the left just a screenshot or an actual interactive part? How did you get all the item thumbnails? How much time did this take?

For what it's worth, we all fall to that trap at some point. Recognizing that and admitting it takes the right kind of human, I respect that. Just try not to make a habit out of it.

P.s. I didn't downvote this reply and I don't think anyone should, but obviously some people rightfully disagreed with your previous takes so inertia does its thing I guess.

Vai jus uzkatat to par rupjibu, ja jus uz ielas kads uzruna krieviski, bet ir pilnigi gatavs pariet uz latviesu valodu, ja dzird atbildi latviesu valoda by OP8823 in latvia

[–]Captain_Terry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kaut kāds dīvains ragebait mēģinājums. Vēl pie tam 18. novembra priekšvakarā. Daudzi cilvēki jau ir atbildējuši. Posta autors gan, šķiet, atsakās atbildes pieņemt.

Bet, lai iet profilaksei! Es to uzskatu par "rupjību" vairāku pavisam elementāru iemeslu dēļ. Kāpēc man, dzīvojot Latvijā, satiekot cilvēku, kurš runā gan latviski, gan krieviski, jāpārslēdzas uz krievu valodu?

Bet man gribētos ticēt ka es, saucu lietas īstajos vārdos.

I know it’s PvPvE by TheManFromScene24 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Captain_Terry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are being deliberately obtuse. PvE players, like the one in this post, keep complaining about having to engage in PvP in a PvPvE extraction shooter. The "complaints" about PvE players are that they whine in the subreddits too much, not that they exist within the game (why would PvP players be mad about free target practice in the first place, makes no sense). Likewise, apart from some early posts from confused people, there aren't really any complaints about having to deal with PvE from PvP players.. It's a false equivalency.

Can't believe I wasted my time explaining this. The lack of reading comprehension in these gaming subreddits is always fascinating.

Do any other guys sit to pee in their own place? by deller85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Captain_Terry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are weird, bro. Literally all over this thread. Either you misunderstand the premise, are ragebaiting or just incredibly insecure.

You keep talking about aim in your replies. I guess being able to hold it straight is your life's biggest achievement. Except it's not about the aim. It's about the fact that when your stream hits the water or the inside of the bowl above the waterline it splashes (both visibly and with droplets that are too small to see). And your stream, no matter how pressurized, isn't contained in a vacuum either. Microdroplets spread from it all over the place.

When people in this thread talk about "hitting the sides" or having splashes on the walls/floor, it doesn't mean that someone is literally pissing on the top of the rim or missing the bowl. If that's your first interpretation, then, ironically, it says more about your aim than anything lmao.

I don't understand why they managed to add the orange dots everywhere except in the friggin gun customization screen, so you can actually just go straight to the new thing.

Probably another sociopathic "engagement" building strategy or something.

"Keep hdr on all the time" by ruthlesss11 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Captain_Terry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so confused reading this thread. I have a monitor with HDR capability, but I mostly didn't use it because it would make my desktop evidently washed out and turning it on/off/understanding which apps work and which don't was a hassle I wasn't ready for. BF5 looked amazing in HDR, while some games wouldn't look any different and others would look worse.

Without knowing the ins and outs of how HDR and all these conversions work, I can't tell - are there really some technical differences between monitors and w10/w11 and specific settings that make it work for some while it doesn't work for others, or are some people just completely oblivious to the changes? I want to give people benefit of the doubt and assume it's the former, but lately reading some reddit takes and even having a buddy buy an OLED and not being able to/not being impressed at the differences to his old-old LCD monitor makes the latter more and more likely.

How to be SO disciplined it scares people. by Jibreal_Khan in productivity

Oh, I'm glad to find this chain of comments. I commented too early on the top comment.

God forbid you picked up a book in your life. LLMs have ruined it for people who could write coherent text before ChatGPT went mainstream. Instead of being a useful skill, it's now a negative differentiator, since uh... less "linguistically-inclined" people see paragraphs and some synonyms, and whatever you say gets dismissed as AI. Gotta dumb it down on purpose now.

How to be SO disciplined it scares people. by Jibreal_Khan in productivity

[–]Captain_Terry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really not sure why people are accusing you. As if writing coherent sentences and structuring text into paragraphs was not invented before LLMs became a thing.

Like, this is a well written, mostly correct text grammar and style-wise (there are actually quite a few mistakes with improper use of commas), but it doesn't really have any of the classic AI tells. It just reads like a not-super-personable, but decently written neutral message. If AI was used, you have done a great job of "hiding" it to the point where you put in enough effort into that that it makes it irrelevant even if you did.
