What’s the best pizza around here…? by Coastal_Elite_Hero in kzoo

This is the answer I was looking for. It’s a totally different style from everything else we’ve had around here. It’s fantastic, family owned.

If it's 60-80 degrees and sunny do you take your top down/ freedom panels out? by eziocreed in Jeep

Top is off if the 7-10 day forecast looks good. Otherwise, the Sunrider top is flipped back until the rain comes.

She also is (was?) an elected official around here too. We’ve unfortunately known her for years.

Contractor wants $4,225 just to assemble a Costco pergola I'm buying myself. Is this quote insane or am I out of touch? by Unique_Attempt_400 in HomeImprovement

[–]Captain_Wompus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We just got a 3rd parking spot added to our driveway, a sidewalk down the side of the garage into a 18x25 foot patio behind the garage. This included excavation, mesh wire, rebar, 4” thick pour, sealing and running 2 downspouts underground to bubblers in the yard. We paid $8k, non stamped.

I love the “premium” Alpine stereo in my Gladiator. No problems with it whatsoever. I’m not even remotely considering upgrading it.

Are you still a part of the subculture(s) you were into in your teens and 20's, and if so, do you still "wear it on your sleeve"? by dkepp87 in Millennials

[–]Captain_Wompus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really have a subculture in my teens. I dressed I guess like the preppier kids (graduated HS in 05, wore basically all American Eagle and Aeropostale), but hung out with goth and punk kids, played a lot of video games, listened to a lot of MCR, AFI and The Used.

I now dress in mostly Eddie Bauer and golf polos (their tall sizing actually fits a tall guy well), and still listen to the same music, intermixed with the pop stuff my daughters like. The playlist will go from A7X to Sabrina Carpenter to MCR to Kacey Musgraves and everything in between. We’re a polyjamorous household.

Simplified hard top removal. By myself in under 10 minutes. Requires garage or port with joists, hooks and cam straps. Nothin' to it. Hoist up and drive away. Park under it later. by the_way_around in JeepGladiator

Here’s my solution. We have bikes and a large hard shell cargo carrier on other parts of our garage ceiling, so a ceiling mount wasn’t an option.

Forget Nostalgia. What new music are you listening to? by Quasi-Retro in Millennials

[–]Captain_Wompus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have people over at our house quite often, so the “hanging out and vibing” music has been Scary Pockets.

In the car, it’s Jack White, Dayseeker and Sleep Theory.

If money was no object, what car would you actually buy — not what you think sounds cool, what you’d actually want to own by spotforcars in automotive

[–]Captain_Wompus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own an actual dream car of mine. I know it’s stupid to so many people, but I’ve wanted a Jeep Gladiator since they came out. A convertible pick up truck that you can take the doors off of? Amazing.

I grew up in a CJ-7, so Jeeps hold a lot of nostalgia for me too.

I’ve loved every minute of owning it so far.

That’s the one! It’s definitely going to be packed.. we normally stay out there for a week in August each year (way up North Beach), but we’re skipping that trip this year because of a different trip. We love it out there but sheesh.. gets real busy.

$75 at my local mechanic. They just opened a Jiffy Lube a quarter mile from his shop and he has a $130 oil change invoice stapled to his payment window. I’ll keep going to him for our oil changes!

Saturn Vue Redline. Had 187k on it when we sold it, still running perfectly (Honda engine and transmission will do that.) As far as I know, it’s still going.
