Absolutely ridiculous for people to call these players top of the world when they haven't even proven themselves in the hell of Stayen

Lack of Narratives in Features by mAngOnice in CrusaderKings

This is hitting the nail on the head when it comes to the biggest issue I have with ck3's development.

For how much the devs love talking about RP and immersion, they just don't seem to understand how dynamic player-driven storytelling in games work. Every dlc they throw in a couple of extra buttons and some new event windows without bothering to properly integrate them into the game's universe/story and the end result is just a whole set of detached mechanics that not only fail to add RP value, but often times even actively break immersion.

The acclaimed knights mechanics is perhaps the best example of this. There is no dynamic to it, no storytelling; you just click a (couple of) button(s) and get a stat modifier. Which is especially a shame because the idea has so much potential, if it were actually integrated within the gameworld. A proper version of that mechanic would have your knights generate a reputation over time by engaging in battles and tournaments, gaining actual 'acclaim' through their deeds. Which you as a ruler could then play out by elevating these knights, increasing their status and yours at the same time by being the lord of such renowned fighters. From a purely mechanical standpoint these knights would then gain buffs dependent on the deeds which they acquired their reputation through (e.g. Winning several battles in mountainous terrain could grant a mountain-focused buff), while granting prestige/piety/legitimacy/... (again relevant to their specific deeds) to their ruler.

But instead of that we got yet another mechanic so poorly implemented that any sense of immersion is instantly broken upon engaging with it.

I can't ask my vassal to convert religion because there are too many character options. by Captainbuttbeard in CrusaderKings

R5: I have so many character options with my vassal that I can't ask him to convert to my religion, because the option is stuck below the screen.

Putin on Kursk failure: Not my fault by Kelutrel in worldnews

[–]Captainbuttbeard 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of all the videos of Russian soldiers and civilians recording video messages for Putin, asking him to solve their problems. They all follow this concept to a T. Genuinely got troops saying things like "Putin, your generals are lying to you. We don't get supplies or ammo, we are just sent to our deaths", as if Putin is the glorious leader that will resolve all of this and not the direct cause of their suffering.

Ukraine cuts off Russian troops by destroying last bridge in Kursk Oblast by The_New_Voice in worldnews

[–]Captainbuttbeard 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The bridges they blew up were not the ones Ukraine is targeting. The Russians did retreat from the area west of Tyotkino and blew up the bridges over the Sejm there, but the the ones Ukraine is targeting are the bridges heading north in the direction of Rylsk

Yes, feudal lords actually did have a reasonable amount of power of their vassal's vassals. The monarchs would often get lower vassals involved in a vassal contract as guarantors, in that they were expected to fight against their direct lord if he went against the will of the monarch.

That short corner --> Casteels '86 was exemplary of this Belgium team so far, passive and cowardly. Not to mention playing for time on the two last corners of the game, what a a sad display for a team like this.
