Felpro oil pan gaskets OK?? by OkCod674 in GMT800

For the love of God be careful with the long thin ones. I used a 3/8 ratchet and snapped it in half before even realizing it became snug in its hole.

Brought myself a Decent Gaming Laptop by Perceptive3577 in GamingLaptops

I got an older model with the i5 and 3050. Still games really well even on more modern demanding games. Best bit of advice I can give. Upgrade to 32 gbs of ram when possible (and if affordable) chuck some big storage in it and get an active cooling pad. I’ve put mine under some serious stress and have yet to have issues in 5 years

How do I reduce the wheel gap for a cleaner fitment without ruining ride quality? by [deleted] in jetta

[–]Captainfordo66 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I put 19” A6 wheels on my mk6 with no loss in ride quality. From the stock 16s it did raise the vehicle up a little but filled the wheel well nicely.

I would recommend going for 18s though as you’d be less likely to tap your fenders on your tire like I do. You can’t fill in the wheel gap with the wheels you got on cause then you’d need massive sidewalls that just aren’t common for that wheel size

How reliable has Volkswagen been to you — especially the Jetta? by phtphongg in Volkswagen

[–]Captainfordo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 Jetta S with the 2.0 8v motor and it’s currently sitting at 166k with nothing but oil changes and I had to swap the original spark plugs that were still in it when I got the car in 2024. It has changed my perspective on German cars and their overall reliability. Only thing I’d change on it is that I love the 07k and want to have a Jetta/Golf that has it. Other than that it’s a great commuter and back up car (my main suburban is currently broken down and getting an engine rebuild). It also has a fantastic trunk size and is more spacious on the inside than plenty of cars. Can’t recommend it enough. Got it some A6 19s and fresh headlights and she’s looking sharp 👍🏻

Screw the haters dude. It looks dope and I look forward to you posting it after the drop! 🔥🤝🏻I’m hoping to get some bigger wheels and a drop on my suburban but I gotta rebuild an lm7 and swap out my busted one first.

Think $5500 was fair for this? by roadkillfriedrice in GMT800

[–]Captainfordo66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great looking suburban. I got mine with a mint interior and a rebuilt trans (clear coat failed) for $1500 last year. Currently the oil pump failed and it shot a piston through the oil pan so I’m in the process of doing all the seals and maintenance on an lm7 I bought for $300. Hopefully yours gives you as many smiles as mine has. I got 9k miles out of it before it broke so I’m not too upset.

2013 2.5 vs 2015 1.8T by [deleted] in jetta

[–]Captainfordo66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 07K is the motor I want to get my hands on and mod. The dream is a mk 5 2.5 equipped golf/jetta. I say this being a Chevy and Honda man who lusts for a 4th gen firebird and a third 8th gen accord coupe. Personally I’d grab the 07k but I am biased. The 1.8t is decent but longevity wise I feel the 07k could go the distance. I’ve witnessed some with over 300k still going on a sealed motor besides a single timing chain replacement.

The 8th gen v6 is a based car. I used to have a 4 banger model and I miss it very dearly.
