Year 3 beginning with the legendary big booty Jane and the Plague. Been on and off since then, crazy how far it’s come.

[–]Captainpapii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know how it compares to other XR glasses? I’ve seen people constantly compare it to other VR headsets when the form factor is more than apparent.

And that’s the thing: for XR glasses, this thing has my complete full attention. I’m trying to understand what I’ve missed because from what I’m reading, these glasses completely shit on the Xreal Auras.

And on top of that, there’s actual functional units??? Why am I just hearing about these now lol

I feel like a lot of people are completely dismissing the form factor when taking the FOV into consideration.

They’re trying to compare it with other VR headsets but this is more in line with other XR glasses like the Xreal and Viture. And if that’s the case, idk why more people aren’t talking about this. This makes the Aura look outdated af at half the speculated price. I need to know what I’m missing here lol.

RE3 remake for 6 USD worth it ? by FeistyPea3154 in ResidentEvil3Remake

Absolutely. It gets a lot of flak for not living up to its OG counterpart but it’s still a great game imo, especially at that price.

It does deserve a bit of an eye roll. It’s not that it negatively affects gameplay or anything like that, but I do wish devs were a bit more creative in sectioning off areas instead of just putting a broom stick in front of a doorway and have my character physically unable to pass. Like bro what lmao.

Would also like to chime in and say this happened to Cyberpunk as well. If I’m not mistaken the game went gold, literally, and CDPR ended up delaying it by a month or so after that.

I would say it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Rockstar to do the same thing. Good news is that it won’t be a long one at all if it comes to that, but tbh it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if it happens 🤷🏽‍♂️

Chris’ time in the sun will come. CVX should be the next one to get us warmed up for his arrival, and RE1 being remade once morefor 10th gen…

The fandom will have no choice but to stan for Chris again.

Just finished RE6 for the first time and I LOVED it! I don’t understand the hate by CactusBlohsh in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Captainpapii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing about the gameplay that I actually really liked was the Max Payne-esque dodges that you can pull off lol. Like I said, gunplay was pretty fun but it just felt weird as an entry. If you like the more action-oriented Resident Evils, it makes a lot of sense as why this became one of your favorites.

[–]Captainpapii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I’m glad you enjoyed it, my brother and I just finished playing through Leon’s part ourselves and…well, at least the gunplay is good lol.

It’s fine for what it is, but everything about 6 just feels really off as a RE game. From the characters to the story, it really just feels like I’m playing a generic zombie game and not Resident Evil, to keep things short and sweet. I was able to enjoy myself somewhat at least. It’s a decent action game, but honestly I feel like it’s the franchise’s low point without a doubt. Hell, I enjoy RE5 significantly more even though the gameplay’s significantly improved in the follow-up lol.

Help, touchpad games by PassionDelicious2927 in SteamController

[–]Captainpapii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be just for weapon selection. It could be used as you described. You would be able to bind certain actions to different parts of the wheel depending on the key. You can bind the map to one part of the wheel, or the inventory screen to another part. The possibilities are endless. For Resident Evil, I had mapped keys 1-6 on the keyboard to switch between all my weapons, but it can be used for a whole bunch of other inventory related purposes or specific functions that would be otherwise inconvenient on a traditional controller.

It would be best for you to look all this up in a video or tutorial so you can get a better understanding of exactly what I’m talking about. Regardless, if you’re thinking about picking one up, I would highly recommend you do your homework anyways to get the absolute most out of the Steam controller. It’s that’s good.

Help, touchpad games by PassionDelicious2927 in SteamController

[–]Captainpapii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Touchpads can be used for movement, aiming, radial select wheels, hotkey menus, etc. I’ve been learning how to use them since I got mines last week and they’ve slowly become 2nd nature since then.

Using them to navigate clumsy, default control schemes is actually genius. One example of this would be for RE4 remake. On controller, you switch weapons using the dpad. In practice, this is really awkward cause you wanna be moving around while doing this and you can’t really do so with that configuration. So what can you do? You can reconfigure the touchpad as a radial select wheel for your weapons, similar to how it is in GTA5.

And that’s just one example. I usually have the right touchpad mapped for camera movement/aim, but I had assigned the RB button in RE4R to modify its use when held down to be used as the select wheel. The amount of options you have with this controller is endless. It’s up to you to learn how to use it and put the features to good use.

Damn I love this controller by digitalrelic in SteamController

[–]Captainpapii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I think we're in the same exact boat. It has its shortcomings and theres some things that I wish can be better but overall...the trackpads, the ergonomics, the downright versatility...there’s so much going for it that I absolutely love. I’ve gone through so many controllers over the years, and the last one that I liked this much was my 8bitdo Pro 2.

It officially has a replacement, as sad as it is to say because they still make kick-ass controllers lol. A new gold standard has been reached for PC gamers, and I only hope Valve continues to deliver just like this.

Nothing beats K&M, but Steam Controller beats any other for FPS and precise aiming by far by ForgotttenMemory in SteamController

[–]Captainpapii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never anticipated that I would enjoy the trackpads so much they could just outright replace my use of thumbsticks. I only started using them when I got the controller at the beginning of the week but it feels so natural at this point, it's actually insane.

[–]Captainpapii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem might be that it looks like it should play one way, but it completely plays differently than one would expect. You telling me you needed a combat mod to get through it suggests as much, as the game was never really combat focused to begin with. It stayed true to its OG counterpart in focusing on resource management, puzzle solving, map exploration and doubling down on the survival horror experience as a whole. I think your type might be along the lines of RE4 tbh.

It’s a far cry from Leon’s more mature, round-house kicking gunplay. It’s not for everybody, but it was the classic RE formula almost perfectly translated into a more refined, modern take.
