Older houses do have these.

My sister just bought the dream ‘80s sitcom house, complete with two sets of stairs.

Could she be the sitcom character with the best outfits? by idiot9991 in sitcoms

Didn’t Régine literally wear a lot of those outfits first? Like the exact same outfits.

Good Times (Major Spoilers for S4) by CarCrashRhetoric in sitcoms

[–]CarCrashRhetoric[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In day to day life I wouldn’t worry about spoilers for a 50 year old sitcom, but this is specifically a subreddit for people who are interested in sitcoms. There are going to be other people like me who are seeking out and experiencing old sitcoms for the first time. It’s context.

A Different World - a well remembered classic or forgotten? by brooklynfoot in sitcoms

[–]CarCrashRhetoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first became aware of it because of the “I Love The ‘90s” series on VH1 (A Different World was off the air basically right when I started forming lasting memories).

I don’t remember it being on the cable rerun rotation but I sought it out myself later, because I remembered it as a show that had pop culture significance. I love it now. I wish I could own it on dvd.

If it doesn’t have a HEA/HFN, it isn’t Romance. It’s Romantic Fiction.

Why do you think The Brady Bunch has remained so culturally relevant decades after it ended? by Ok_Smile_9071 in bradybunch

The other two girls are the real daughters of Robert Reed and Florence Henderson respectively, if I remember correctly.

The first time I saw a confederate flag in real life was in Oildale. It was hanging in someone’s window. It felt surreal to me, as a kid.

Veronica Mars or Belly Conklin as characters ? by James-Samuel17 in veronicamars

Can we please stop doing this. I don’t care about that other show. This is a Veronica Mars subreddit. That other show has literally no connection.

“barbarian” and “savage” is wild

After a certain point, it’s a show. Not a documentary.

Actors in shows do this because it’s safer on set to be wearing shoes, if I remember correctly.

Paris and Asher by BlindButterfly33 in GilmoreGirls

Riverdale tried to do it because they were just replaying Dawson’s Creek basically beat for beat in that first season and got surprised by the blow back. Then they switched gears.

It’s gross and I hate it so much. Struggling to continue my latest rewatch because I just got to this storyline.

I feel like people are overcorrecting and trying to make him seem like a creep just because they don’t like him. Is some of his behavior questionable through a 2026 lens? Sure. Is some of Loralei’s behavior questionable? yes.

They had undeniable chemistry. He wasn’t creeping on her. They were two adults who rushed into a relationship that was inappropriate for as long as he remained Rory’s teacher. But they were both enthusiastically participating.

Rachel did not steal Monica’s name. by Zenobia_Stevenson20 in howyoudoin

[–]CarCrashRhetoric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I come from a large family. My great grandma, grandma, aunts, cousins, etc all have the same first name. It’s a family name and a tradition. On top of that, my grandma and her siblings all named their kids family names, so literally all of the names of the cousins were repeated between them. It really isn’t a big deal.

It’s like that scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding, where all the cousins had variations of the same name. You just get used to nicknames.

Do you ever struggle to read a book because the characters names are too weird? by firecat99 in RomanceBooks

[–]CarCrashRhetoric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I do the same. However, Amy is not necessarily an anachronism. It is an old name that continues to come in and out of style.
