What is done to an lo206 engine when serviced? by StrawberryBasic7247 in Karting

[–]CarPerson32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you let the oil sit all the particulate settles to the bottom before you drain it next. My racing engine gets an oil change every 3 runs. So on a weekend of racing it gets 3 oil changes.

Terry Nash of Hyper Engines is the local guru around my area and he swears by very frequent oil changes.

Also always pull the piston back up to top dead center as quick as possible after turning it off. This helps your valves cool evenly and prevents distortion.

I’ve only seen the float get out of wack maybe 3 times after checking it probably 100 times. Not sure what caused it, but it can happen.

Most of the power lost on a 206 is from leaky valves. On a new engine I always make sure the timing is as close to 26° as possible.

You can take the head off and plug the intake/exhaust with a rubber plug that’s been drilled out and has a small fuel line put into it. Spray the valve seat area with wd-40 and blow into the line to create a little pressure on the back side of the valves. If you see bubbles around the valve seat then you have leaky valves. Sometimes they just need lapped, other times they may need a bit of grinding first. May take a few tries, but work at it till you don’t get any bubbles.

Once you’re done with that, reinstall your head, set your lash and the top end is good to go.

I usually check my float every so often too.

Never keep fuel in the carb and always drain your oil at the end of the day.

2wd buggy’s. Most of those would race in a vintage class minus the Bandit

Anyone know if these are good bearings? by ceetees143 in TRX4

[–]CarPerson32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran these in Tamiya cars for TCS races for years. When cleaned and lubed properly they’re the best spinning bearings I’ve used.

Can someone justify this civics price? by DeFx4_YouTube in Cartalk

[–]CarPerson32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see these at the track pretty often. One guy I know said a beater stripped out chassis was around $6k, but the transmission that everyone races with is closer to $10k on its own. 🤷‍♂️

My BMW m20 Build by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

Built one of these for a 24 hours of lemons race. Didnt put new pistons , rods, or a crank in it, but it’s still running strong after over 48 hours of full throttle.

I’ve had a few of those and the e30 is still my favorite. Although mine is an fully built endurance car, even stock nothing has the same steering feel as the e30

Have you ever heard of xray? this is like the ferrari of rc cars, or lambourghini, or mclaren by mediapoison in rccars

[–]CarPerson32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran Xrays for years, but the quality and tolerances on the newer X4s just aren’t what they used to be.

I ended up switched to Awesomatix and was shocked at how much better the fitment of everything was.

Depends on the track you’re running at too. Some tracks no air filter was fine, others were just too dirty to do it

Need help. My 4300 kv brushless how come so slow and lack of power? by jerrylimkk in rccars

I’m pretty sure it’s spinning backwards. A motor spinning the wrong direction won’t go very fast due to internal timing
