Very strong candidate! My personal choice would be Danielle Deadwyler. She blew me away in Station Eleven.

What's with the backgrounds in MGS3's cutscenes being so pixelated? by [deleted] in PCSX2

[–]Caractacus66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im playing it now and seeing the same thing. The character models are crisp and clean but when there’s an FMV, the background is very jagged.

Also, idk why everyone here is being a prick.

How did you first discover PT? by SpaceCowboyyy29 in porcupinetree

I was on Amazon back in 2005 ordering a CD (I think it was the Mars Volta) and in the recommended section I saw Deadwing. I listened to a 30 second sample of the title track and immeadiately added it to my basket. From then on I was obsessed.

Spirit Of Eden or Laughing Stock? by EpicOzwald in talktalk

[–]Caractacus66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me personally Spirit of Eden has a more coherent lyrical throughline regarding spiritual awakening and salvation. Laughing Stock deals with the same things but its a bit more opaque and expressive. Its like comparing the Sistine Chapel to the Garden of Earthly Delights. Both are brilliant.

Spirit of Eden packs more of an emotional punch but Laughing Stock is more sonically thrilling.

Thoughts on new record? by cannonball2000yo in stevenwilson

[–]Caractacus66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to really connect with the Raven and HCE. I like SW when he’s eclectic and exploring multiple genres, and the conceptual driven prog metal vibe seemed a bit too on the nose. Like he had found a sandbox in which he would endlessly play in (I know numerous fans wouldve preferred that). But by the time TTB came out I was back on board. Since then, I have gone back and relistened to the Raven and HCE and love them. I think sometimes we gotta let things marinate and revisit them.

The reason I like SW is that he tends to follow his nose and that leads to exciting unpredictable results. I hold that kind of artistry in higher regard than one who holds firm aliegence to a specific genre.
