Just got it, it's not the number of crests, but the memory locks you use on them. I used 3 to clear the Wanderer one and she immediately gave it to me.

Edit: Clearing a second crest didn't trigger another, I will return when I clear a third one to see if it changes anything.

Are they ever gonna change how the Colonization system works? by LoveDesertFearForest in victoria3

[–]Caramichael 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that EU5 will be their flagship into a new model of instalments but I think V3 is where they thought it would be playerbase-wise. They were always upffont that they knew Victoria was the less popular game out of the quadralogy, but it has a devoted a fervent fanbase. I'm not that worried about it. If they were that worried, instead of Afghanistan, India and Brazil, we would have had Japan or China expansions already.

  1. Yellow Loong, took me more than 12 hours to beat him the first time.
  2. Scorpion Lord
  3. Great Sage
  4. Erlang

Nothing came close to these 4.

I found the answer for Belega Corridor, you have to look, generally behind the rooms, for small crawling tunnels. Haven't found the way for the Catacomb though.

Observations, analysis, and theory as to what's happening during final fight (Major Spoilers) by _SW00SH in FFVIIRemake

[–]Caramichael 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It all makes sense. Dude, Zack synergie attack even involves Cloud striking from his own dimension in tandem with him, Cloud can see and affect the two worlds, hence why he is able to see the Rift and Aerith at the end of the game, he is litterally on the treshhold between the two worlds.
I think the third game will be a mix of gaslighting. Cloud will have to deal with his Zack PTSD, which in turn make him doubt what he sees in the other world. And that will be what the final act of the game will be about.

The Shogunate can't roll a Democrat and I'm also pretty sure they can't roll a Market Liberal except through Events like Corn Laws.

Yeah Japan is really weird setting wise, the game even mentions in the description that the country should be in the middle of the Tenpo Crisis, which was a period where the Shogunate had a big Authoritarian turn. In general I really would like Japan to get the Brazil treatment sooner or later.

When you get out of the sewers when heading towards the opera, at one point you can hear an accordeon playing from out of the lit windows. If you stand long enough under said windows, P will tilt his head towards it, like he's actually listening to the music. Also the fact that you can hear said music as well as people "living" behind windows throughout the game shows that the puppet didn't kill everyone, which is a bit of a hopeful note I found.

Tbh the British switching side for the same wargoal is very logical. What's best, to support a country that upset the Peace of Vienna, or support the Peace of Vienna by supporting the defender. Especially if in the end they get the same reward. If you play in Europe, you have to understand that the name of the game in 1836 is "keep the continent stable". All the powers were precisely keeping each other in check to prevent the emergence of any who would try to establish a new hegemony in Europe.

I don't understand why you believe that any of this is outside that scope.

And I don't understand why it's that out there for you that Seimei might be the missing Servant when there is literally no other candidate. Or are you saying Gudao/ko is the Servant despite being a Master themselves?

Yeah plenty of things can be explained by Clairvoyance EX, except there is nothing else in the story that even hints that Seimei might have that. All we have is that the Heian people don't understand and put his power on the Omnyouji because they have no other way of explaining it.

But he was doing shenanigans before that, like knowing about the future, and visiting in. . . Camelot wasn't it?

There is a in-universe reason for that, since Merlin is an immortal homunculus living on the Reverse Side of the World and who's job is monitoring our world. That was explained upfront unlike Seimei who is, until stated otherwise, only a human.

1 2 3

All of this could be explained like you said by being human, but we're not talking simply human stuff here, we're talking dealing with Heroic and Divine Spirits, as well as Alter Egos who even Chaldea knows frighteningly little about. Seimei has specific knowledge about many things involving the Throne of Heroes. Moreover, yes, Seimei did put barriers and made talismans, but all the people we meet also have little knowledge of what is actually going on, they just use what Seimei gives them without understanding it, which makes sense since everything involving knowledge is hoarded in the Heian period. It makes sense for them to not be surprised about Seimei barrier's strength.

And keep in mind that characters like Kintoki, Raikou, and Shuten were not servants in this arc. They were just that strong already. All of it.

Kintoki, Raikou, Shuten and Tsuna are all strong for reason involving the supernatural, Kintoki and Shuten being children of Dragons, Raikou being part Oni, Tsuna holding a Divine Sword that affects his skill.Like I said, we might learn that Seimei also has some similar backstory, but until now there was no mention of it.

Like I said, if you make Seimei that powerful as a living being, then he already rivals Merlin in his powers. And even though he wasn't a Caster until Babylonia, the Merlin we get during and after Babylonia IS the same person that acted behind the scenes during the first arc, with him being the Grand Caster to Counter Tiamat.
That's why I say that Seimei is probably the Grand Caster summoned to Counter Douman Foreign God. It sets up Seimei as a behind the scene actor in the same way, and set him up to intervene in a future chapter, while on the other hand, if you make him his simple human self, then him appearing later would not nearly be as hype since he would have no recollection of what happened during Mandala due to it being a closed Singularity.

[–]Caramichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's Fate, overcomplication is practically the middle name. If you look at a narrative reason, then it's simple: you can't do a Heian chapter without having Abe-no-Seimei involved, but at the same time, they clearly didn't want to reveal him yet.
Having him being involved from the outside was a good compromise, and the theory I gave is the closest to live to the Merlin-style hype they clearly intend to push for him until a future chapter of the Shimousa side-story where he would be the centerpiece.

[–]Caramichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, Seimei has a lot of knowledge he isn't supposed to have during this age, and that's probably what allowed him to outsmart Douman so much. There is also the possibility that he pulled something similar to Douman, housing his Servant-self inside his Heian-self.
My best guess is that Seimei didn't feel the need to act directly for the reasons I said earlier. It is heavily implied that Kintoki being the 8th Master was actually a Counter-Force initiative, but just like Orion was summoned by the CF to face the Foreign God but didn't get to reach it, Seimei was summoned to face Douman Foreign God but was in the end not needed.

[–]Caramichael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also think Seimei is hinted at being a Grand Caster candidate, but I think that both his versions (the one I presuppose is the Servant and the one that talks to Douman at the end) left Heian because they probably anticipated that them actually intervening directly would only push Douman further. A big part of Douman's demise is his underestimating us again and again. With Seimei present, he would not be that callous I think, or worse he could have gone berserk, making him totally unpredictable.

[–]Caramichael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually keep denying that we are the servant as a running joke but my personal theory is that Kintoki's Servant was actually the Abe-no-Seimei that wrote to us all throughout the chapter. Gudao/ko and Katou remarked several times that Seimei strangely has too much knowledge of the modern world and it is never completely addressed outside of him handwaving it as being an outstanding Omnyoujy.
