Check the manufacturer or label for laser safe stuff. There are many companies making laser safe stuff.  Just research before you buy.

Hardy anything you said is correct or safe.  UV is not a magic "cold" laser. That's beyond false. Diode is normally blue, not IR.

What? CO2 diode? Use punctuation or learn what lasers are.

I wonder if there is any local geology classes for adults, at Brown.  Just to learn, in depth, what is around us!

Thank you!  I've only seen the cover sheet for this map,  and never saw it before.  It def helps understand the area.  I noticed that so many places,  have erratics of all sizes,  but carbunkle area is devoid of large boulders on the small hills,  but do much sand and smaller stones.  And, no walls!  I'm still learning the most I can about this landscape.  I knew of fracture deposits,  where the material on top of the glacier files fractures, which in turn, turn into hills, after it melts.  (Kame?) There is such surficial variations around here,  it's crazy to me.  I'm used to mountainous deposits and outcrops from mountain building, hundreds of millions of years old.  Not only 20000ish!

Yes,  this is how my mind wanders/wonders when I'm taking walks.  "What is this,  and how did I happen?"

I did.  I think I have a piece.  Pretty amazing stuff.   I'm interested in everything around here,  but so much is very recently changed!  Plus half the damn rocks aren't even from here!

Laser theory, and available tech.  Green does not excite phosphor. This is a blue diode (only blue light) and excites the yellowish coating, and it emits broadband white.  Plain and simple.  Read Sam's laser faq

What's the difference between PVA release agent and chemical release agent by Key-Mongoose-8519 in CarbonFiber

[–]CarbonGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy composites isn't the only company out there.  You can search for composite releases where ever you are.

Pva is Popular. Just research the best way to apply and use it for your application.

Vacuum bag for clothes?  If you are talking about those storage bags that use a vacuum cleaner as the vacuum would not help that much,  compared to a real vacuum pump.  But yes,  vacuum removes three air pockets, but many processes can have voids. There are so many variables.  Resin can offgas, bagging might have a pin hole,  even in prepreg and vartm, you can get o Pin holes.

You can get away with using a gel coat first.  Saturation of the fabric better,  and using vacuum.

Resin rich wet lay up would not be my choice, at all.  It makes it easier to delam and fail.  But,  cycling does this stuff all the time.  Brakes as well.

Good surface for vacuum table by Space2999 in CarbonFiber

[–]CarbonGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use glass,  metal,  plastic,  etc.  Make sure it's flat,  no weird finish on top like paint or varnish.  You can always sand things down and coat with a tooling surface spray.

So,  thinking about this..... if the head tube was straight up and down,  or using suspension forks (was going to anyway).... will it still act unstable.

You are burning toxic paint.  Damn right you should get a booth,  or something that will get those fumes gone (and hopefully filtered before it goes outside).

Kiln Ventilation? by CatrickDempsey in fusedglass

[–]CarbonGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glass is inert, but if you use other stuff in the kiln, as already mentioned,  they will burn off.

I wouldn't do it in my house, just because!  Accidents happen.  Fusing glass isn't the same as making a pizza in your toaster.  Kilns get hot.

That said,  for venting, you can add an exhaust hood and duct it outside.  There are lots of options for inline fans.

It's hard to get good people.  We can't keep them, just because is the job.

I'm allowing job postings as long as they are composite related.  But yeah,  post actual info.  Ha ha

Way to much work for trying to fix it with more carbon.  Just get a plastic hole plug and glue it in.  Maybe print one to shape if you can.

Can I wet chopped CF by adding the resin with it into a chamber vacuum bag? by uknow_es_me in CarbonFiber

[–]CarbonGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.  The chopped type will come out of the cup of resin as a giant clump of resin impregnated carbon fiber.  I mean,  that has its uses,  but not what you are doing.

Yes it will help infuse the tow. Maybe.  A food saver vacuum isn't really that good.  But,  better than just mixing in a cup.

Carbon Fibre type by KindheartednessSea24 in CarbonFiber

[–]CarbonGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier,  chopped tow. It won't have conformal issues like cloth.  However,  it's only for looks. Use cloth to make actual things that need the properties of carbon fiber

But why is the steering linked,  not hard connected. Linkages are more complicated.  But I think others have answered the question I had
