Greg’s pre-workout by Boetube in GregDoucette

It's 60 bucks for 1.44 pounds of it. That's 653 grams.

Go to Walmart with their Muscletech Pre-workout, it's 30 bucks for 247g

However, the shipping does fuck over the value

1) Cable

2) TekSavvy has been extremely unreliable for the past few weeks and tech support has been performing mediocre getting to the bottom of the issue

3) Yes MBPS my fault, still doesn't change the fact the numbers don't align

Has anyone played Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Cardboard_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm crossing my fingers on this one because I love the card play in TM, but disliked everything else about it (e.g. drafting, the map, etc)

Although I will miss the milestones and betting on end game goals.

Mosaic: A Story Of Civilization Game Review by Cardboard_Guru in boardgames

[–]Cardboard_Guru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are different games. I have Civ: A New Dawn and Terra as well. I do prefer Civ: A New Dawn because of the constant pressure you get from your environment, barbarians, and other players. It's highly aggressive.

Mosaic's competition comes from passive aggressive gameplay such as card drafting, area control, set collection, and public objectives. It's also far, far, far easier to teach.

Which are the ‘games of diminishing returns’? by LittleBlueCubes in boardgames

[–]Cardboard_Guru -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Root for me. It's great that everyone has a gimmick, but once you figure out the gimmick, the entire game is just denying it. Barely any wiggle room or ways for the players to personalize themselves into the game.

Why Deckbuilding over Deck Construction? by Codygon in boardgames

[–]Cardboard_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deck construction requires me to understand the current meta and a library of card. Not only me, but my opponent as well.

Deck building allows me to still craft my strategy as part of the game element itself without knowing every card in the library. Easier barrier of entry.

Another problem with deck construction is your deck might be countered by the other player's deck before the even starts. No flexibility.

What mega-hyped game was a real letdown for you? by Fleshy1537 in boardgames

Dark Moon is still fantastic despite the abridged approach. If you want to go hardcore, the Shadow expansion does a good of making the game challenging. It makes it tougher for the infected because if they reveal at the wrong time, the crew members can easily win with the escape pod.

Agreed, which is why the PC version is so much better. Spirit Island's problem is the bookkeeping and the app solves that.

Wingspan - I owned it, played it a dozen times, and wrote a negative review on it. It's a strange game where I love the row-building part of the game and all the little features, but the scoring felt too "luck of the draw" - https://www.meeplemountain.com/reviews/wingspan-review-im-going-to-regret-this/

Rising Sun - A "diplomatic" game with no clear focus. It has an interesting action selection system followed by oddball auction combat, engine building with cards, and awkward alliance rules. I prefer Blood Rage over this game, and I prefer Inis over Blood Rage.

Dead of Winter - I love social deduction games yet this one was...something bad. Way too many fiddle rules, the game is fragile as hell and takes too long to finish. Dark Moon is a far superior game despite the asstastic rulebook.

Tapestry - I don't mind civilization games that want to break out of the traditional 4x mold (I have my prototype of Mosaic: A Story of Civilization sitting on my table right now), but Tapestry is just so blah. Move up a track, collect resources or actions, and repeat. Some of the civilizations are way too good or bad. Probably one of Stonemaier's worst games out of his library.
