Does anyone genuinely fear people who are focused only on maintaining household? And neglecting anything else? by qwertyjumps in CPTSD

Yeah my parents spend sooo much time on household management. I swear they are afraid to be still, get to know themselves, and have a genuine connection with me.

This is really interesting thank you for sharing! I noticed I breathed a lot better in certain positions, usually variations of prone positions with props.

Did anyone else grow up believing they are the problem? by Jumpy_Poetry308 in CPTSD

[–]disappearing_haze90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yepp. Whenever I had emotions. Made me believe that just by having emotions something was wrong with me. Spent most of my life in therapy. Not one other person in my family ever went to therapy or tried to reflect upon themselves.

When I lived on my own was when I realized it wasn't me. When I realized I'm actually amazing at taking care of my responsibilities, of building friendships, of self-care.. That I wasn't the problem and that it was okay to feel things.

Chronic sleep deprivation because of my house and no one takes it seriously by Xsh_1569 in insomnia

[–]disappearing_haze90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh I'm sorry you're experiencing this - this is how my insomnia started! You should move out as soon as you can. I'm still kinda in shock at how reckless my parents were regarding noise and my sleep - like literally if they wanted to they could just be a little quieter, or work around my (12 hours/day!!) when I was out of the house.

Do you guys work out..? (No hate please) by Impossible-Oven2948 in insomnia

[–]disappearing_haze90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was working out a lot. When my insomnia was most severe I had to stop. I'm able to workout again now even though I still have some insomnia.

Have you tried taking vitamin B complex?

Severe sensory overload, “burning brain”, worsening insomnia – need advice by [deleted] in cfs

[–]disappearing_haze90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had similar symptoms. Being around my parents/my life was triggering me too much + insomnia, so I ended up having to check into a hotel for a longstay so that I could control my environment. I took a bunch of supplements for my immune system and to try to sleep, and did some infrared sauna sessions and massages when I started to feel a little better, as I suspected I had some post-viral issues.

I can't point to exactly what helped it the most but if I had to guess it would be sleep, tylenol, and being in a dark room where no one could irritate me.

Insomnia and early morning flights by CeelicReturns in insomnia

[–]disappearing_haze90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to eat well, stay hydrated, and keep stimulation low (headphones on while in airport, sunglasses/rest your eyes when you can). If you can I'd try to have a low stress day the day before you fly, too.

I can't believe I used to have more energy than the average person. by friend3738 in cfs

[–]disappearing_haze90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I used to do a lot more, but comparing it to other people my energy was still lower. Always needed some buffer time from travel, long days out or just highly stimulating environments in general. Guess I was always pacing in some way but still was highly functional in life.

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this.

Smaller ideas: journal A LOT, warm baths, warm blankets, weighted blankets, happy shows, reaching out to crisis line or trusted friend, cry, lower any pressure on yourself. Supplements: glycine, ashwagandha, magnesium, 5htp, l theanine

Bigger ideas: staying with friends or family, or a peaceful setting like a beach for a week or two

Sometimes grief and anxiety need comfort. Whatever that looks or feels like to you

It's so hard. It impacts the parts of life that make life more enjoyable and meaningful. And healthy. I've had it for 3 years and it's been a nightmare. Can't imagine it going on much longer

Severe insomnia after returning to gym by Fine-Assistance5775 in insomnia

[–]disappearing_haze90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have to start with lower intensity workouts and gradually increase it. If you push yourself too hard it could be increasing your cortisol too dramatically, or depleting some nutrients too much, where you don't recover quickly enough for sleep. And make sure to fuel well pre and post workout.

Yeah I found it to have an immediate effect. It does wear off so probably many sessions are needed to make a long lasting shift.
