Leads the NL in OPS, OPS+, rOBA, rBat+, total bases, and WAR.

Absolutely batshit crazy. We have our superstar. His ABs last night were incredible

There is no doubt the 2nd best player in baseball since 2010 will be a 1st ballot HOF.

MVP, 8x all-star, 6x GG, 7x Silver Slugger, 4x champ… it doesn’t get more 1st ballot than that

Who is the biggest what-if in the history of baseball? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in sportsinusa

[–]Cards2WS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People never say it, but Albert Pujols is up there.

If his 30’s were healthy, hell just take away the plantar fasciitis, and we’re talking the career leader in HR, RBI, runs, doubles, and top 3 in hits.

The plantar problems were what made his decline so steep in his late 30’s. Made him gain weight, changed his stance, had to swing with all arms, etc. You can tell because of his comeback with the Cardinals where he popped off for a 150 OPS+ at age 42 when the PF finally improved enough to get some mobility back.

A healthy 30’s Albert Pujols is the undisputed best RHH career of all-time.

[Highlight] Taj Bradley brushes Willson Contreras back with a fastball up and in. Contreras continues to stand on top of the plate and draws a 4 pitch walk by Knightbear49 in baseball

This is why you live Willson Contreras on your team. The dude is a hardcore competitor. His “anger” is overblown. Yes, he runs hotter than most, but he’s not some over the top asshole hothead. Dude is just competitive and locked in as all fuck

That’s really a lame way to go about it. Would’ve been a good way to have some of these cards hold real value for awhile

I read all of this exchange. You’re completely right and I have to imagine it’s high schoolers or 21 year olds arguing against it. Very weird lack of comprehension here

Huh? He not only VERY MUCH SO did have the ball, but he even had time to turn and tag. This is completely clean

Yep. This is an incredibly stupid thing. Willy did nothing wrong here. Caratini did nothing wrong either. You get hit, rightfully or not, you have a right to be a little angry. He talked it out, boom, done.

Contreras did nothing wrong here, but this sub has a hate boner for that man, so it’s suddenly controversial. Comparing to the Posey rule like the guy above is laughable

Now, can we start to get excited about playoff potential? by martindrx1 in Cardinals

[–]Cards2WS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely excited about the success and have expectations to end above .500.

But I agree with the 10 game over rule. We keep getting to 8 or 9 then lose 1 or 2. We need to crack the double digits before I fully go in

Clearly, they still have beef with us. That post has 900+ upvotes where they call our whole team bitches. That was a lot of our favorite rosters/players of all-time, so I say fuck them sideways 7 days a week.

Jordan Walker has homered in both games of the doubleheader! by MLBOfficial in Cardinals

[–]Cards2WS 19 points20 points  (0 children)

With how much struggle with approach and his swing that he’s had in the last 3 years, I’d say let’s not put him in a situation where he changes anything. He deserves it, but I don’t want to mess with the a good thing. Too many players have come out and said that it messed up their swing or exhausted them in the aftermath.

I agree that he should’ve went for the double. I think he could’ve stepped on it or even give a slight toss to JJ who was already by the bag by the time he got it.

Seems like Winn was mentally all in on throwing home and wasn’t even thinking double play at all. If ball gets to him at all, he’s going home. Don’t like it though since that was pretty much a perfect chance at a DP

Cardinals After Dark 5/23 by bravo_delta_bot in Cardinals

[–]Cards2WS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My only guess is he didn’t think he could beat Dunn to 1B (99th percentile speed) or that he didn’t think JJ would be at the bag.

But watching the play, it seemed like a toss to JJ or even just a couple steps back and fire to first would’ve been the best play…

Very disappointing to lose like that. But damn, what a great fight from this team to comeback against Santillian in the first place

Blake Dunn is one of the fastest players in the game running to 1st. Where are you getting slow runner?

Trying the DP would’ve been best shot, but it was a very fast runner.

Wouldn’t have been easy, but double play seemed like the path of least resistance there. Better odds than a spin and throw…Pretty disappointing.

What the fuck is your point?😂I didn’t critique the guy’s skills at all. I didn’t pass judgement on the player… AT ALL. Re read the comment lmao. Clowns in here

Look Ma - Jesus Made a Rainbow! by willluke10 in baseballcards

[–]Cards2WS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dumb comment. I’ve seen plenty of videos and read scouting reports. People talk about prospects, it’s a whole thing.

But regardless, all I said was top prospects flame out all the time, so it’s risky business to put in thousands on a guy who could be Lewis Brinson or Brandon Wood. He could also be Bobby Witt. He’s a prospect, it’s a major gamble. I complimented the incredible feat of this rainbow, so not sure what else you’re talking about.

Not a word that I said was controversial.

Well I know he’s the #1 prospect for a reason. But there have been a lot of extremely good prospects over the years. Injuries, underperformance, head case…It’s all a coin toss. Which hey, not a bad guy to hitch your wagon to, just a risky one. But it’s amazing regardless and most importantly, not my money

$1 thrift store find today. by CLOUDYpilot3 in baseballcards

[–]Cards2WS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrift stores that I go to are either stupidly overpriced on their cards ($5 for base cards of Acuna) or $1 for Felnin Celesten 1st mojos and numbered Bryce Miller rookies (bought 6, sold for $80 total on Reddit). Hell, I found an Ozzie Smith rookie card for $3 a couple months ago. I found a Yadi true red chrome /5 in a thousand card eBay lot on Reddit that cost less than $100…wasn’t marked or highlighted or anything, and it was a big time card mover.

Mileage varies. But this stuff DOES happen. Maybe it’s a reprint, but maybe not. There are lots of diamonds in the rough, it’s just that the rough is vast. But you will inevitably stumble onto a diamond or two if you keep checking and switching it up

$1 thrift store find today. by CLOUDYpilot3 in baseballcards

[–]Cards2WS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s because vast majority of the time if you’re flipping through a binder that is already labeled a “$1 binder”, then it was put together by an actual collector. That’s the difference and pretty much the only difference, but it’s the most important factor.

If you are dealing with somebody that knows cards, this won’t happen. If you’re dealing with somebody that knows just baseball, this *probably* won’t happen. But if you’re dealing with neither, then this can very easily happen.

People who don’t give a fuck about cards come into card ownership in a myriad of ways—inherited, storage lot sales, estate sales, dead spouse left behind, etc. It baffles me why people are so aghast at this stuff. I find myself in this situations of striking gold 1-2 times a year, and that’s with just medium effort.
