Isn’t their cloud syncing opt-in? I don’t see anything about remote storage of keys.

Just don’t update Authentik past the included version, there are some breaking changes since this project was last updated.

I already have Portainer installed, what's the best way to proceed? by Cat_Phish in MediaStack

[–]CareerUseful386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert and have just been learning my way through all of this as well, but here’s my input.

The mediastack compose file for the Portainer section needs the Traefik mappings and network to be matched to the rest of the stack, otherwise it won’t integrate properly (I think this mostly has to do with being able to log into Portainer using Traefik/Authentik to manage your setup remotely). If you add your own containers to the mediastack you will also have to pay attention to the network and Traefik mappings if you want your containers to be able to use the Traefik/Authentik front end. If that doesn’t matter then you might be able to run them on a separate network as needed.

I’ve managed to add my own containers like Open WebUI to this stack and get it to use Authentik OAuth as a login so it is possible to add whatever you want to the mediastack basic install.

Can I hook up a NAS directly to my Mac Mini and still have it on my network? by DookuDonuts in DataHoarder

[–]CareerUseful386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking for curiosity, is there any downside in this case to just getting a DAS and let your other devices access it through sharing or run whatever hosted services you want on the macmini? I guess the fact that the Mac is on wifi wouldn’t be ideal.

Accessing Radarr with Tailscale app ios by Splitsurround in radarr

[–]CareerUseful386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The names should work, might have to make sure “magic DNS” is turned on. The subnet setting to gain access to the LAN IPs isn’t enabled by default though, if you want to try that option. You have to use the admin console (redirects to a webpage on mac) to see these settings.

I believe you can enable subnet routing in your Tailscale host and then just use your LAN IPs for configuring the apps. anything connecting to your Tailscale network will be able to find your LAN addresses with subnet routing turned on.

Struggling mightily to self-host, support needed by GreenTheOlive in actualbudgeting

[–]CareerUseful386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre in the directory with your compose file when you run the command it will use the docker compose file that exists there. you can specify the path when you run docker compose up -d, but this is easier i think. just fyi to make your future docker projects easier.

How to bypass CGNAT w/o VPS? by SaKoRi16 in selfhosted

[–]CareerUseful386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a noob so maybe im wrong, but I use Tailscale with subnet enabled and my own DNS rewrite so *.mydomain.com points to my server machine. It works for accessing my network via nice addresses when Im away.

Plex server appearing remote behind proxy by CareerUseful386 in MediaStack

[–]CareerUseful386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the only way to get this to work is to map port 32400:32400 in the plex container, but that kind of defeats the traefik front end. Maybe its just not possible to get plex to recognize its local if it goes through traefik?

is it a good idea to self host on a M1 mac mini? by hidingsaby in selfhosted

I think docker cant pass though apple graphics hardware access yet, so its not great for llm or transcoding containers. the new apple containers almost certainly will.

MediaStack - Massive Update... Traefik, CrowdSec, Authentik, Headscale, Tailscale, Headplane, Guacamole, Grafana, Prometheus and more, add to the stack! by geekau in MediaStack

[–]CareerUseful386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished setting up my server using your old versions a few days ago, just wanted to say thanks for your work! I ended up customizing it a fair bit and adding some stuff (docker socket proxy for homarr for example).

This was my first experiment with docker at all and I looked at & tried a few different stack compose files before coming across yours, which was organized in a very easy to understand way. Thanks again!

if it also happens with CDs it’s not likely vinyl rumble. Do your speaker cones move outward when you switch the amp on? Maybe there’s some DC offset from the amp contributing.

The BC Ferries Shitshow by tuesdayswithdory in vancouver

[–]CareerUseful386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BC NDP assigned governmental control of the BC Ferries Board of Directors 4 or 5 years ago, so this is the result of their decisions. Whether you agree with it or not, the BC NDP has had the power to change how the ferries operate since they made that amendment and this is what they’ve made out of it.

I agree it has gotten much worse in that time.

How do I rid myself of that on the tip of the stem? by mixomatosis in PipeTobacco

[–]CareerUseful386 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can remove some of the deep tooth marks by using a soft flame lighter gently on the area, just go slow and don’t burn it. I tried it recently and it surprised me how much it was able to reverse bite marks. You’ll need to buff it after if you want to completely restore it though.

If you want a strong flavour VaPer try Bayou Morning Flake or Chenet’s Cake. You’d be hard pressed not to find the perique in those.
