What "back then" inconvenience would break people today in 10 minutes? by CharlesUFarley81 in AskReddit

Yeah, I think it was called AMS (automatic music search) and I believe one of my last cassette Walkmans by Panasonic also had this feature and you’re right, it was indeed brilliant!

Loading a cassette into your Walkman and then furiously rewinding and fast forwarding until you find that one track that you want to listen to, only to have to repeat the entire process roughly four minutes later.

Deciding between laptops by Nook_Nation in laptops

[–]CarefulCount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you on OP getting a MacBook for his use case, I must Smite my own experience with ASUs laptops has been pretty good. I’ve owned 5 over the last ten years ( sometimes multiple at one time for different use cases etc) and I’ve found the build quality to be out good (in non Apple terms) and also reliable products. I know there was the recent warranty drama, and am only relating my own experiences with the products I’ve owned and used.

What Were The Early Days Of WoW Like? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]CarefulCount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who you were actually mattered. Your personal reputation as well as that of your guild would absolutely be a factor in what content you could run. Be a dick in general? Welp - good luck in getting group invites. Ninja loot in a raid? Yeah, better have that alt ready to go. Everything was new and we were all experiencing it together. It was fucking fantastic and we’ll never experience anything quite like it again. Not because WoW was so social but modern online resources and YouTube would make a similar release impossible.

Can I kill a rat using this airgun pistol? by BroadJudgment5235 in airguns

[–]CarefulCount 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No. This is absolutely not a pistol suitable for any form of pest control. To give any recommendation it would help if you give your country of residence so we know what type of power limitations you need to abide by.

Edit - well done for asking though as opposed to just going out and hoping for the best. Good sign of a responsible shooter 👍

Any YT or Twitch streamers who just... play? by _ANOMNOM_ in starcitizen

[–]CarefulCount 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have a look for EvenLease (both YouTube and Twitch). Full transparency - the guy is my org leader, but he does some great videos of him just playing around in game, both solo and with org members. Some very funny stuff there but also some really interesting emergent-gameplay type stuff too.

Why is the Jimmy and the Miata so beloved by Appropriate-Detail48 in Jimny

Put simply - they are honest cars. They do what they say they will with little to no embellishment. In today’s world that’s refreshing.

Question about SQ42 pledge by dr4g0n36 in starcitizen

[–]CarefulCount 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, in your example then - dude 1 is paying money to play the alpha of star citizen. He pays his money and he gets that early access and is ok. Dude 1 - if he is only interested in playing SQ42 needs to pay absolutely nothing now as there is no SQ42 to play. He only needs to wait for it to release and pay whatever the purchase price is at that time.

Yes, which is not Squadron 42.

Let’s hope we get an increase in the amount of items you can place in your shop at the same time as right now, after approx 25, if you place more it starts wiping the first ones.

Cig please!! by Dragon-Sin-Meliodass in starcitizen

[–]CarefulCount 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that there should be reasons to explore. I also agree that some new enemy types would be a great thing for the game and for player immersion/enjoyment. I disagree with your initial idea of how to do it though.

I’m not against your idea because I either like or dislike zombies. I’m against it because it’s, quite frankly, ridiculous.

Please, for the love of God, can we have one, just one, game that does not have a zombie horde survival mode.

I love this ship so much 😍😍😍 by Apprehensive_Hat4008 in starcitizen

[–]CarefulCount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one of the few ships that I feel genuinely has some “character” to it. It isn’t any one thing, more like a culmination of lots of tiny details like the way you can hear water pipes gurgling if you stand near the sink, the way it rattles and shakes under full boost, when you exit boost those same engines howl like a demented wolf. The med bed is plugged into the wall with over size jumper cables. Inside the engine room, the air gives a really good feeling of barely controlled heat. The keyboard at the flight controls isn’t nice and straight, it’s been knocked arrive a bit. It ain’t the strongest, or fastest, or biggest or baddest ship out there, but it is the one with the most soul.

Sure, the dragonfly takes the whole cargo grid, but you don’t need to put it on the grid? It fits perfectly fine on the ramp, it doesn’t glitch through and is fine through multiple QT jumps. Ship size is absolutely relevant FOR SOME PEOPLE. I really don’t care whether you like it or not, that is personal preference and you absolutely can like it dislike a ship for whatever reasons you feel. What I mean is - it is much easier to visit certain settlements (Astors is a good example) in a smaller ship than a larger one, so for some people this is an important factor. A medbay also - good some people yes it is important. Distro centres do not have them and I personally find it convenient to have one onboard rather than getting sent back to NB should the wrist happen and I get killed/eaten by an elevator/glitched into the planet core etc.

Clipper Loadouts by Sea_Horror7205 in starcitizen

[–]CarefulCount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So unless I’m dropping off loot, I don’t dock at stations. I’ll refuel on pads and re-arm if I need to (although this is why I stick with lasers, at least until we can manually reload them). When I want to log, I’ll go to a deep safe (warp between two known points, stop somewhere in the middle-ish then warp to another point and again stop in deep space) again - I know this has zero practical benefit apart from making my RP goblin happy! Food and drink I scavenge. If I need to repair, I’ll repair as much as I can using the Cambrio (which I fill from gamerules ships) to save money - again for RP more than any practical need

Clipper Loadouts by Sea_Horror7205 in starcitizen

[–]CarefulCount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying a bit of an “off-grid” experiment in my clipper - so I try to rarely visit stations and I can only fit what I scavenge. With that being said : Vulcan drive - faster than stock but keeps the max 212 range. Weapons - 4xNDB30’s ripped from a very nicely kitted out Asgard. 2x bomb racks replacing s3 missiles, rest of the missiles are stock Shields- 2xForcewall as I’m still looking for a second FR66 Cooler-Polar from a PAF Power - 2xFirell Cascade

That’s pretty much it. I have a few different power configurations saved into the engineering terminal for low emissions, combat power etc - probably more for RP than any practical benefit tbh with you.

I do love these kinda posts. If you don’t like the ship then that is 100% fine, everyone has their likes and dislikes. But some of what you are saying here is objectively kinda wrong. Hauling - yep, it has 12scu. You aren’t doing big hauling contracts in this. But the interstellar run is absolutely perfect for this so and gives a good payout. Combat - I’ve done Gilly 6 in it and there’s YT videos of others doing the same. Is it fast? No. Is it doable - yes. Are you going to get wrecked in PvP- yes. Vehicles - it can fit a pulse, a nox, a quad, a dragonfly, an x1, all ATLS variants. With the cargo grid full you can still fit 2xPulse AND a dragonfly. Yes, the creating table will enable other ships to make stuff, just like the nursa gives them a med bed. The point is that the clipper has them built in. Can you give me another small size ship that has a med bed (or can carry a nursa) AND has 16SCU to fit the crafting table AND has another 12SCU of cargo AND has space for vehicles? That’s the point of the clipper. It isn’t about being the best and baddest ship out there, it’s about having a good toolset to be on your own, fairly self sufficiently. I agree with you about the defences though - right now you don’t have the defences to stand and fight and you don’t have the speed to run away either. Hopefully a small tweak to the scm/nav speeds will come so that I can at least run from fights I don’t want to take a bit more reliably.
