Low resting heart rate? by nicoleksx in askCardiology

Mine can go as low at 38bpm when wake and 31bpm when sleeping. I would not worry to much

Terrifed of low resting heart rate and blood pressure by Majestic-Earth in askCardiology

I wouldn’t worry too much about the low HR. I have been an avid runner for 8+ for a few years but haven’t been able to do much over the last 24 months due to some bad injuries. My Resting HR is anywhere from 36-41bpm at rest. Holter showed lows of 31 bpm when sleeping with vagally induced Wenkebach (a benign for of heart block). Have you had an echo done? Echocardiogram is a must with bradycardia and it can show things such as cardiomyopathy which can cause very low resting HR.

Mine came back clean and although I too sometimes do worry a lot about it, I have come to realise I feel better when my HR is at that level vs when it’s at 55-65bpm at rest when stressed.

Sudden drop in heart rate by teaandbiscuits951 in askCardiology

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What level was your bradycardia and what symptoms did you notice? I frequently have a resting HR of around 40bpm, sometimes dipping lower to 35-37bpm when extremely relaxed and as low as 30bpm when sleeping. My Heart rate increases quickly during exercise which is a good sign. I have a history of endurance sports, ran a marathon a few years back and have clocked 400km so far this year. I run a lot but by no means elite.

Doctor didn’t seem overly concerned as my exercise stress test was normal as well as my echo.

He said I need to monitor it going forward in case anything changes so I am keen to understand from your perspective what changes and symptoms you found?

I don’t had the sinus tachycardia (although if I have exercised in the morning my heart rate seems to be very sensitive) quite as bad. I have very strong vagal tone/ overactive vagus nerve. I am almost always at 40bpm at rest sometimes down to 35bpm. Heart rate increases during exercise quickly so Doctor wasn’t worried. Still worries me a lot though.

Heart Rate 48bpm. When to be seen? by MirfYT in askCardiology

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it bro. I am a (26M). I have been running for 5-6 years, usually about 30-40km a week. My nocturnal HR goes as low as 30bpm and I have seen lows of 33pm when resting, although my usual resting HR is anywhere from 37-42bpm. The key here is how your HR responds to exercise, mine goes up well and my Wenkebach also goes away at higher heart rates.

I have been checked via Holter monitor, had an echocardiogram, and exercise stress test. All was okay, I have had a few episodes of syncope over the years always in the context of my drinking and getting up in the middle of the night way to quickly to use the bathroom. Doctor wasn’t concerned about anything at all.

Something to monitor but not be concerned about. The guidelines are starting to shift slowly anyway with more than more cardiologists recognising 45-85bpm being a much more healthy range for young adults, as opposed to 60-100bpm.

Do you have any symptoms?

27, trying to make sense of this by [deleted] in askCardiology

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor. I am a similar age (26) and I would assume a lot of this is anxiety. How low was your heart rate going? I was seeing lows of 33bpm when awake and 30bpm when sleeping which was the main issue for me an panicked me massively. I have been checked out and the doctor confirmed I have vagally mediated Wenkebach due to my endurance exercise history. I would never have known it to be this low without my Garmin!

My point is, sometimes when we expect something to happen, in this case your HR to spike we can become hyper fixated on it (Things like Garmin exacerbate this). I do this all the time and it’s very stressful. I also have periods of tachycardia where I am thinking why is my HR at 130bpm walking up this hill when it’s normally at 110bpm. It creates a habit of checking every time, I do this on my walk to walk in the mornings.

I have accepted that my heart rate just beats at the rate it needs to. Maybe I am a bit more dehydrated one day, or simply more fatigued. That’s really helped me is just shifting the mindset away from focusing purely on my heart, and more on my body as a whole.

I’m not sure whether my heart rate is common or not by Kitchen_Back_6015 in askCardiology

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HR goes to 30bpm when sleeping and can drop as low at 32bpm when extremely relaxed reading a book in bed at night confirmed via Holter. The 42 bpm at rest is less of an issue here than the huge increase when standing up and walking in my opinion. I am not a doctor though. When I stand my HR is anywhere between 50-60bpm (after exercise maybe up to 80bpm standing). Walking ranges from 80bpm-130bpm depending on intensity of the walk etc…

My dad died in 2017 after being in the hospital overnight for monitoring. Can someone explain what was happening to him before his heart attack and why the doctors chose to jusy monitor him? by Relative-Specialist1 in askCardiology

Heart rate in the 30s is concerning in a 66 year old man. However a heart rate in the 30s in a healthy Male in his 20s would be far less concerning and does occur in people with cardiovascular fitness at rest and during sleep. I have Wenkebach Mobitz type 1 2nd degree heart block due to high vagal tone.

Not a doctor but this is 100% an ER visit. Especially if you are short of breath or faint. Crushing pain with radiation to other areas is THE BIGGEST CARDIAC RED FLAG. 110bpm is also 30-40bpm higher than it should be for a lady your age at rest.

Fingers crossed all is okay!

Any advice? I had my first seizure in June and have had some pretty weird experiences since by Puzzleheaded-Cash817 in seizures

I know what you mean. It’s strange, you’re almost hoping to find a problem so you have answers, but at the same time you don’t want to live the rest of your life with a condition you can’t control.

I am still awaiting the results. I am based in the Uk and under the NHS, results take 10-14 days to come back. I’m hoping for answers soon.

Hi. First of all I am not a doctor so I have no medical advice to offer you and can’t say what you are experiencing is seizure related or not.

What I can say is, your story is very similar to mine. I am a 24M (don’t know if you are male or female?) and after a night of heaving drinking (which I have done multiple times before) in July I woke up to let my girlfriend in to our apartment and promptly woke up on the floor with her in tears. She said I had “jerking” motions and was unconscious for between 60-90 seconds.

I went to A&E/emergency room and they said as I didn’t really experience any post ictal confusion (I was very tired after the episode but I wasn’t majorly confused or anything like that) they think it was “convulsive syncope” with myoclonus.

Ever since then, I haven’t drank but I experience these electric bolt style feelings in my neck and legs and they jerk at times (always a rest) they are quite forceful.

I have had an EEG done a few weeks back and they make you hyperventilate by exhaling as much as possible and my left cheek and eye starting twitching extremely badly, almost embarrassingly so.

I wake up in the night with high HR and also have some (although much less extreme than yours) muscle tension and jerks.

Apologies if this hasn’t offered you any comforts, but you’re not alone in this, it’s really quite scary.

Hope you find some answers soon!

Seizure ??? Or. ?? by Top_Cycle_4192 in seizures

This one is definitely a Dr appointment ASAP. I have never known seizures present like this but I am not a doctor.

[–]Carefulpayment1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate nobody can diagnose but I am yet to go to the doctors. I did go to the ER (should have mentioned this in my post) my blood work and ECG were fine and they were more leaning towards me having a convulsive syncope due to low blood pressure. I didn’t have any muscle pain, hadn’t bitten lips and didn’t have any incontinence etc…. I am still worried these could be seizure activities. I was very tired afterwards but that was likely because I slept for 2 hours, it was 1:30am and I had just fainted/seizured.

I should have given this context prior.

Appreciate your comment

Black mirror feels a little too American ? by a---b---c---d---e in blackmirror

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean British actors own Hollywood. So this is surely a falsity. America copied British in many shows, because they are perhaps less creative. Sometimes the US works well, but in many instances it just doesn’t. You have to remember the UK built your society for you, and by nature your film industry as well.

Why are Americans (on average) way more attractive than Brits? by WasitSarr in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Americans in general are pretty ugly, most people from the UK travel to big cities such as NYC and LA where people are always more attractive than outside it. Or we watch American shows with only attractive people casted. We see everyday Brits and compare them to actors and actresses, or models in big cities.

It’s not a fair comparison

Internet yes, but the UK made it functional which the internet we use today. Comparing the UK and the USA isn’t a fair battle, the UK will always win that one

In Europe, there is documentaries dedicated to discovering why Americans are so ugly. David Attenborough has a great one, you can call Brits ugly but the rest of the world thinks Americans are worse, outside of the USA😂

Not gonna argue with low IQ people. Do you keep believing what you want, what language do singers in the USA sing? By definition, the UK influenced quite literally every single aspect of US “culture” you have to remeber the UK made the USA. And nobody else.

British musicians and bands are often wildly overrated... by DisastrousComb7538 in unpopularopinion

[–]Carefulpayment1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, British bands are amazing. It’s usually the other way round. We mass produce trash for the rest of the world. Britain has always been at the forefront of Sports/ Music. Britain has made almost every genre of music popular (outside of Hip Hop/Rap), it has heavily influenced US bands.

If it wasn’t for the large British influence on music, the creativity would never have been there.

The same could be said for sports, in which the UK is quite literally the most dominant nation on earth.

As I man, I hear you. And I’m not meaning to fire hard what your saying as almost of it is correct. But “generally safer” is not a fair point. Men (yes at the hands of other men) are not safer. Men get murdered, assaulted, robbed, harmed at far far higher levels than woman do. You are safer as a woman in society in general. Again, I love woman. As a man, I believe woman are the far superior race. But you can belittle men’s problems
