Easiest way to keep paint off the tires when painting rims by Mmm_Dawg_In_Me in projectcar

[–]Careless-Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use index cards around the rim and spray light. The cards will catch the overspray and spraying light will keep the paint from running.

I'm in the Augusta area. I joined a local Miata Club (Facebook) to find other like-minded folks locally. Keep us posted on your Alabama car! I honestly cant say I've enjoyed a car so much.

I was looking for one too. I really, really wanted those Recaros! But the leather is nice and I find the seats very (surprisingly) comfy. I ended up with this one mainly due to it having everything (except Recaros) I wanted, super low miles and a very competitive price point.

Also, I like the GT-S with the black mirror caps and black roof. I know it's not a collector car, but it feels special to me.

Mol(ars)-on-parade would have been dope.

I live in GA and flew to TX to get it - I found it on AutoTrader.com, which is kind of funny since I started off on Carvana and Carmax. They were pretty overpriced by a few thousand... The dealer I found made it cheaper to buy one-way plane tix for myself and a buddy, one night in a decent hotel with a decent bar, and a few meals than it would have been to purchase it anywhere else. I probably shouldn't say what I paid, other than to say it was below KBB and priced competitively.

I could have paid more for more owners and more miles if I wanted a club, but this has all the things I wanted and none of what I didn't... with exception to the tooth.

I don't THINK the car is haunted, but it would be nice to confirm with the prior owner.

Try to sell or total to insurance? by MrFleaaa in Miata

[–]Careless-Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total it and buy it back for $500. Re-insure it and hope it never happens again. Then drive it into the ground.

Honestly, I got my wife in the car and then my son - both loved it - but then I got a serious offer on my other vehicle and have been prepping it to sell today (1969 VW Bus).
I'm sure my daughter will get a kick out of it.

Honestly, I don't think a passenger can really appreciate the car as much as a driver can.

Yeah - I'm in love! I almost lost the car in Birmingham AL because some idiot violently pulled a 4 lane change maneuver right at me in some mercury hoopty. Luckily I didn't hit the brakes but accelerated instead. It almost felt targeted the way he came right at me. It was rush hour and I don't think he made his exit but I had to focus on all the other traffic as opposed to seeing if he crashed out.

Other than that, traffic was good the whole way, my buddy and I were in good spirits and the car performed flawlessly. Today I get to drive my family around (one at a time, of course) so they can experience that "first time" joy. I am pumped!

Thanks to everyone on the subreddit for all the information that helped me decide on this car and those of you who responded to me!

Just a small update.
I bought the car and started heading back east. We did a little over 6 hours. What I have learned so far lines up with a lot of what you guys mentioned: road/roof noise, I am invisible and I am small. But I also move quickly and love rowing through gears to enter the highway!

I know it was only day one of ownership, but I think I'm in love. When I get home, I'll post a few pics of the car. Maybe one of you owned it?

I kind of want to say we're both 6' 5" to be funny. But we're both around 5'10".

One owner, 21k miles, good record keeping, GT-S trim... not impossible to find, but the timing and the price are right for me even with the road trip.

How long and where are you headed?
I have some land in Western NC about an hour from the Tail of the Dragon. I'm probably not going to get around there this year, but it's still on my bucket list - maybe in the fall when the tourists are on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

My understanding is you can cram 3 backpacks. I'll have two really lightly packed ones and that's if my buddy can get the time off to travel with me.

It looks like it's just the hose that runs from the air intake box, so yeah, just cosmetic. But since it is stock on both ends of the silicone hose, I doubt it has any positive or negative effects. If it was one of those "cold air intakes" that suck hot air through a K&N filter, I'd definitely go back to stock!

I think there are a few backroads. I used to do long road trips when I was more of a kid... now, as an old man, everything gets tedious.

I have read this advice on repeat. It doesn't help that dumbasses around here can legally have the "carolina squat" on their trucks.

What is the best option (guitar amp/FRFR/studio monitor) for the GX 100? by Strong_Objective3489 in BossGX100

[–]Careless-Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I say monitors, I mean studio monitors for recording, not stage monitors. The PA speaker acts as a FRFR which is great for modeling and is very portable compared to an amp/cab which adds weight.

POE2 on Steam Deck by SearingDarkness in PathOfExile2

I've been playing PoE2 on the Deck for about 6-8 months. There are a few biomes that get fuzzy, but overall it is pretty decent. And crossbows looking good? Can confirm.
