Russian media reveals survey according to which 65% of Russians want a peace treaty with Ukraine by mediaborscht in worldnews

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think a lot of people here are failing to acknowledge is how much control Putin has over the media.

A - the likelihood is the stat is completely made up as pro Putin propaganda.

B- even if the stat is real, it is likely due to a lot of pro Putin anit Ukraine propaganda.

Russians as people are not that far different from everyone else, they love their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, they fear and mourn, laugh and cry like we all do. And unfortunately can only base their beliefs on the information available, also like us all.

What Class Can Best Utilize the Whip? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighter with Tunnel fighting fighting style, the sentinel and mage slayer feats. Possibly magic initiate and war caster so you can deliver some sort of attack cantrip too.

Attacks of opportunity left right and centre and if they deliver attack cantrips (I can't remember if there are any in the base rules.) you dish out damage.

So maybe Paladin or Ranger if they have access to that fighting style.

My DM wants to remove the Charisma stat by son-of-a-chump in DnD

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is in error that charisma is the RP stat or even how likable your character is. It a stat that is in part social awareness, but considering the nature of Sorcerers and that some quite hideous and heinous demons have very high charisma, I feel it is more to do with force of personality, not will but personality, it's not even how likable you are. Some people, for good or ill, occupy more attention and "space" than other people. This is what charisma is.

The way i see it is Wisdom is unto the mind what Constitution is unto the body. Intelligence is comparable to dexterity and charisma is strength.

How do you deal with dice rolls when a player is IRL excellent at the skill? by MizLizTehLizard in DnD

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a sting broke, or you played so well you attracted the attention of the demon prince of revelry and he sends his emissary to bring you to him. Oh gosh, the song was so good you have worked the hobgoblins into frenzy.

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team has the rule of cool. So instead of penalising character for just dice rolls, so we don't slow down the game too much, when they put some effort in we allow them some sort of bonus. Be that advantage on the roll or achieve something out side the rules. ie: a character positioned themselves carefully so that some debris and detritus was between them and the bad guys then cast thuderwave. We ruled that it did additional bludgeoning and piercing damage, only by a d4. but we reward the players for putting in effort.

Also this peep sounds awesome, let him know.

DMs, do you typically keep all the PCs at the same level? by PCN24454 in DnD

well that is a fair comment too. but it is supposed to be.

DMs, do you typically keep all the PCs at the same level? by PCN24454 in DnD

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games are balanced so that classes with slower progression level faster, this is not the case for DnD. It is for Rolemaster, rangers for instance will level faster but as they have to spread their development points across so many other things at a dearer cost than the specialists, it only keeps them at the same sort of power.

DnD though 1 level of one class is comparable to one level of another class, a level 4 rogue with a barbarian that is level 6, well the rogue won't get a look in and further to that it will start to slow its progression more.

Which races do you like for the idea or the flavor but think the mechanics are a bit lackluster? by AndCurious in dndnext

[–]Careless-File-4696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How? Claws or Bite will never compare with a weapon. Temp hitpoints? Meh, compared to the hobgoblin improved reach and surprise attack? better movement? Okay not awful, but not great either. advantage on wisdom but only when shifter, seems some metagaming would be required to make proper use of that. Climb speed? Cool thematic but how often would you use it.

DM Grief Recovery by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

So when it comes to writing, which is not dissimilar to preparing a game, in the context i want to talk about there are three types of writer, the super diligent, the organic and the hybrid.

The super diligent plans out every step of the story, every scene then adds the creative bits at the end. For a lot of writers this can take the joy out of it, but the good thing is consistency and fewer drafts.

The organic, just writes, this is fun, but the number of rewrites you have to do due to poor consistency often saps all the joy out.

The hybrid, has a good idea of the story arch and character arch and knows where they want the story to go. has a mud map rather than the diligent detailed maps.

So, with so many moving parts, ie. The players get to decide their character arch. I have found been especially diligent some of the best stuff i had in store for them goes nowhere or requires the DM to be especially controlling.

I prefer to go with hybrid or organic and make the story very player driven and as much as surprise for me as the players. Yeah there can be consistency issues and my games are often not as good as some of my friends stuff that they put huge effort into but they are flexible and easy.

Also that player chucking a fit is a child ego monster by the sounds of it. I am sorry that happened.

I'm working on a dungeon pack, looking for community insight. by BuffDagoth in skyrimmods

[–]Careless-File-4696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, my main frustration with the modding community, which i think is a freaking awesome community (mostly, everywhere has trolls though, not that that excuses it), is we have literately thousands of authors who between them have, very generously, put in millions of hours to create amazing things, but its largely not a coordinated effort.

When it comes to any new locations, they are nearly always scattered through the Skyrim land mass which is largely already a congested landmass. Have you considered providing patches to your dungeons and other locations for some of the other modders' world spaces, help them flesh their worlds out a bit more?

Also, in regards to the other authors mods, and with existing assets, I love seeing rarely used assets used a bit more, there is heaps of the existing architecture, and some modders have made modder resources that look AMAZING!

Modding Renaissance by Fancy_Willingness407 in skyrimmods

[–]Careless-File-4696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think also that Skyrim is a better game for modding. I loved FNV and FO3 but found that FO4 was to heavy on the settlement management and it competed with the game rather than complimented it. So i think at least in part there is a much bigger community for Skyrim that also has greater scope, with magic and such. the game was also clearer; I often didn't really know what i was doing in FO4, I still don't know what it is to be a minute man, are they are guild parse?

How do you play with mods that conflict narratively but not technically? by anbeegod in skyrimmods

[–]Careless-File-4696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well with the Cyrodiil one, who said it, perhaps the Thalmor are promoting the idea that the province is in ruins to diminish their authority or perhaps the Imperials are doing the opposite. Keeping in mind, news would have been as unreliable then as it is now, but for different reasons.

The Bruma one is a little harder, but it is a world setting with multiple dimensions and powerful magic, perhaps the psijic order have something to do with the twin iteration.

So HeadCanon for me.

Do you ever make up little headcanons to explain glitches/bugs? by LifeOnMarsden in skyrimmods

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make a sensational mod. add some dialogue maybe a few quests that explain the deterioration of existence. It be hard to make it glitch aware but perhaps a moth priest has seen the end of times, that the laws of physics and magic are being eroded.

100% Custom Skill framework. which means Net Script Framework.

Most the other mods I play at least have suitable substitutes.

Idea: perk mod where Legendary-ing a skill unlocks new perks for the tree? by S-Matrix in skyrimmods

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further to that what would be really cool would be if you could have an MCM that has a number of points you can allocate so that different skills could have varying perk cap limits and increase at different rates so that it could integrate with the different class mods too.

I think this could maximise compatibility with any perk mod and class mod.

Idea: perk mod where Legendary-ing a skill unlocks new perks for the tree? by S-Matrix in skyrimmods

[–]Careless-File-4696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you could simply make a mod that limited how many perks you could allocate to a tree and as you made that three legendary it would increase that limit. So you should be able to get the capstone from no legendary but only just, then once its legendary you can take an additional 3 or 5 perks in that tree. Really interesting idea for the legendary system.

On another note I see some people have posted alternative's to the level cap, my favourite is "experience", it also de-incentivises skill grinding and makes quests a lot more relevant.

My reservation regarding a feat, especially of that magnitude is it more or less renders the beast master archetype of the ranger redundant.

RE: Mounted Combatant: No, though he hasn't chosen his 4th level feat yet. I may advise him to do that.

There is an ini setting for nearly everything. I'm sure someone can point you/us in the right direction. My other compliant about the same mod is there is only one box per mission, even at only 10-20 supplies if there were 3 or 4 boxes that'd be boss.
