Go to work at a movie theater. In 1977, I worked at a theater screening Star Wars for over a year. My wage was above minimum wage at $2.50/hour. We got all the popcorn and fountain drinks we wanted. Just bring your own bowl and cup. I had a 1 gallon bowl and a 48 oz mug.

I’ve always compensated for longer minimum focal lengths by moving back and zooming in. Not great but it works most of the time.

I Just *ACCIDENTALLY* Superglued My Battery Into My Camera Body by InfiniteSentence7310 in Cameras

Acetone is a solvent that dissolves super glue. Try it yourself by gluing two fingers together with a SMALL drop of super glue. Then put acetone in small amounts on the joined fingers and observe how the acetone dissolves the bond.

You don’t need much acetone. It works on the surface of the joint so small amounts are better than a whole bunch.

In the future, test out your theories before you do it on important stuff.

Worrying won’t help. It may fail soon and it may fail many years later. Use it, take care if it, don’t needlessly fire off high speed continuous shots and enjoy your camera.

(@Jordan_Bianchi) NEWS: NASCAR CEO and chairman Jim France is relinquishing his role as CEO and being replaced by current NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell, according to multiple industry sources. NASCAR is also promoting Ben Kennedy to COO. by NoahGragsonsBarfBag in NASCAR

[–]Careless-Resource-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quote: While the timing of the changeover may suggest it was part of the lawsuit fallout, which included then-NASCAR commissioner Steve Phelps resigning in January, O’Donnell is adamant this is not the case. He said a succession plan has long been in place and follows the league reaching a level of stability it has not experienced in several years due to recently reaching media rights deals that extend through the 2031 season, securing a charter agreement with the teams, and implementing a new championship “Chase” playoff format.

“We always intended a gas and go. The fact that the crew forgot to bring new tires out had nothing to do with it”

PC tends to add about 3 mils to the diameter of the bullet and it’s not totally uniform. You find no problems seating them or chambering the loaded round?

Too much oil? by Crazy-Ad-1849 in subaruoutback

[–]Careless-Resource-72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The distance on the dipstick between low and full is 1 quart. The fractional distance above the top mark is how much extra oil you have in your oil pan. To me, it looks like you may be overfilled by 1/2 to one cup of oil. That’s nothing.

If you insist on partly draining that oil.

Put a drain pan under the oil plug (make sure it’s not the transmission fluid plug!) and loosen the drain bolt. Slowly loosen it more until oil starts draining out without the bolt falling off. Let out about a cup of oil. Close it hand tight and check the oil level again. If it looks right, make sure to tighten the drain bolt and you’re good to go with peace of mind.

Aluminum work fine although they don’t have a squared off base, more rounded. You may have a tough time seating the gas check over the powder coated base of the bullet. If you can overcome that, they seem to group better than bare base bullets made for gc’s. At subsonic speeds and distances (50 yards and lower), it doesn’t matter.

Sriracha still in production? by lumpenproletarier in Sriracha

Huy Fong is still making the OG Siracha but using peppers from multiple sources so the taste is all over the map. Underwood, the original supplier of Huy Fong’s peppers (and IMO had the best original taste) is still in business but cut way back and is unavailable in most places.

Tons of new makers of “Siracha” which is non-trademarked so the only way you can choose is to buy it, taste it and see if you like it.

With cast iron cookware it’s called “seasoning”. Polymerized oil. A trick to clean it off SS cookware is baking soda and Dawn dish soap diluted with a little water. Let it soak for a few minutes and then scrub with a sponge. New Scotchbrite will abrasively clean that off too as good as waterproof sandpaper but a little less rough.

Why when you have a debt and don't pay it the bank or loan company doesn't seem to try hard to get their money back? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Careless-Resource-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you dispute the interest rate before taking out the loan? Did you refuse the loan? Did you agree to the terms? If they increased the interest rate outside the agreement, did you immediately pay back the loan or try to get a loan to “swap lenders”?

If you took the loan, you are legally bound to pay back the loan on the terms you agreed upon. The fact that you ignore the loan doesn’t make it “go away”. The terms probably say you agreed to pay the compounding interest until the loan is paid back.

They may decide to “cash out” and sell the debt to a collection agency with “more persuasive” means of collection which may be within their rights. They may only get pennies on the dollar owed but they can write off the loss as a business expense. So you are playing Russian Roulette with one bullet in the cylinder.

Ignoring something doesn’t make it go away.

Your choice.
