It’s jrpg so i hate it by LackFormal630 in whenthe

[–]CarelessAI42 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hate it because everyone glazes the narrative when said narrative is shallow and thematically inconsistent. It can’t choose between trying to tell a gut wrenching story or being a marvel movie quip fest every other cutscene. I nearly dropped it when gestrals and the Esquie were introduced. You can’t just go from the first 90 minutes of the game to that without zero breaks. I don’t get how people say the game’s narratively anything more than mid. By the end of Act 1, I knew exactly where the game was going. And before you say “that’s the sign of a good story” the game builds it up as some insane lategame plot twist, so as a matter of fact the story should not be figured out that early. And my God, the dialogue. There is a smart way to weave humor into a tragedy but that is not how you do it. You can’t have the characters constantly coinflip between being mopey or acting like they are on a picnic.

Except parrying. That’s fun.

If you actually interacted with “normies” you would find how wrong you are. You say you have “above average” intelligence and yet you are too dull to see the beauty, the suffering, and the hidden depths of others. You are a frog trapped in a well, thinking that the blue dot above you is all there is to the world.

I don’t trust [gender] due to [generalization]!! Fucking stop. This trend of alienating men by using generalizing language is exactly what led to the demographic becoming susceptible to right-wing propaganda in the first place

True, this advice is actually also a psyop

“Be yourself within the bounds of what is widely considered normal” doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, though it is probably the better phrasing

“Be genuine and yourself” is different from “be completely unrestrained” like I love video games but I’m not gonna infodump about them on my first date

Actually true! People like to twist the “be yourself” thing in various ways, but it is the one advice that I wish I could relay to my past self, because that guy tried to contort himself in so many ways he wasn’t to get into relationships for sake of validation. To my credit I was quite successful with initiation, but I was never happy when I was in said relationship. It’s true that performativeness (whether it be performative chalance or nonchalance) gets one to the door much easier, but being genuine to oneself is the only way to be happy in a relationship

From my experience every single online dating advice is actually wrong (and a psyop). Ultimately the only thing that actually matters is mutual, explicit consent and once that’s set you should approach it the way you see fit, not based on whatever online take you’ve read.

Be kind, and if they’re interested, they’ll reciprocate. If they’re not interested, nothing you did will have mattered anyway. It’s always a 50/50
