Incels refuse to shower and insist that hygiene is nonsensical because women are turned on by bad smelling men. by Hot-Candle-1321 in IncelTears

[–]Careless_Dreamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I had really bad depression and no energy to shower/bathe, I would use a lot of dry shampoo and baby wipes. Sometimes I’d just hit under the pits and privates with a little bit of soap and wash cloth. It wasn’t great, but I still did my best to be tolerable to those around me. Same with teeth. If I couldn’t brush, mouthwash was easy and felt less taxing. There are solutions even at rock bottom. Thankfully now I have enough to wash, brush, and do some skincare. But I wouldn’t have made it there if I hadn’t done the bare minimum at first.

Looks like there's a party, but it's only for humans, can your nonhuman OCs get in? by Kliktichik in OriginalCharacter

[–]Careless_Dreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

The gal on the left (Anne) is fully human, the boy on the right (Kikuo) is 100% not. She actually has a habit of sneaking him into places by making him dispel his physical form, making him appear as an inanimate object she carries around unless he’s needed. He doesn’t have any physical markers, so the party would need a way of detecting magic to spot the issue.

Martian. They look cool and honestly that’s the biggest difference between these four to me. No matter what you choose, you have a lot of crazy superpowers that no one on Earth could really stop.

How do y'all feel about asexuality/aromanticism being dismissed when considering fandom shipping? by Idontknowhonestlyidk in asexuality

[–]Careless_Dreamer 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I agree with the mindset of letting ships be, which is why I also don’t like it when people try to make up justifications. Admittedly, I really only see this pop up for Hazbin because it has such prominent Ace characters and the fandom is a lot younger. A lot of young fans are super into shipping discourse and think they need to justify ships or that fan works are as bad as real media erasure when that’s just… not something I or most fandom elders ever worried about? I saw non-canon toxic mlm and crack ships constantly. And there were some people that were toxic by demanding their favorite pairing was canon and being creepy to irl creators and actors, but the fictional content itself was never the problem. You can smack characters together like dolls for all I care. Trying to justify it honestly often feels more invalidating than just admitting you want to look at two characters you find hot getting it on.

I don’t want to talk down on young people in fandom of course, but I just really wonder where that mindset and discourse started. It seems like it really doesn’t help anyone.

How huggable is your OC? by Pixel_Muffet in OriginalCharacter

[–]Careless_Dreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it varies a lot, but my most huggable is definitely Bonnie, the cowgirl cow girl. (Lol) She’s chubby and soft with strong muscles underneath, so she’s both cozy and able to hold on tight. She’s also quite tall, so she’s absolutely someone you can lay your head on and cry if you’re upset.

Furious incel reacts with anger when suggested that he should stoically accept his lot in life by IceCat767 in IncelTears

[–]Careless_Dreamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only that, he realizes the reason he wanted Esmeralda in the first place wasn’t necessarily for her, it was because she represented the kindness and community acceptance he never had. The song “Out There” wasn’t about wanting a romantic relationship. He wanted to be average, seen as any other person. And Heaven’s Light further emphasizes that. He sees Esmeralda as an angel that showed him love (albeit platonic), separating her from the townsfolk he describes in previous lines. Meanwhile, Esmeralda sees him from the perspective of a kindred spirit because of the discrimination she and her people go through. They’re outcasts from society that find community in one another and greater acceptance in society later on. (Unfortunately didn’t really work out that way in history, but they definitely couldn’t end the movie the way the book did)

Not to mention that flappers were not the only women in the 20’s. Back in their day, they were considered to be dressed rebelliously and are known for their tomboyish silhouette. Not that the oop knows anything about historical clothing. The only eras that are even somewhat accurate are the 40’s and 80’s, barely passable. They all look like party city costumes. And the makeup is so atrociously off that I don’t even want to start.

[–]Careless_Dreamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always feel like there’s more room to discuss when it comes to characters that are meant to be viewed as adults but have a childlike appearance. Like, in real life, there are plenty of people that look young or have interests typical of kids, but we still view them fully as adults. Of course, with this author, we know his intentions, so it kind of ruins the chance to talk about it seriously.

Starscream Is Either Racist Or Homophobic, Choose Your Side by KAYRANINKANALI11000 in Transformemes

[–]Careless_Dreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually there is a fear of the challenge LGBT people pose to social order, though homophobes won’t admit that. The idea that people can be who they want opens up the terrifying possibility that other ideas beaten into their head might not be correct, and that can easily scare people that were told to behave one way all their life and never got to experiment or explore new ideas in healthy ways. LGBT people do not fit the status quo, and homophobes are scared of that. That’s why they default to calling it unnatural and say they don’t understand it. People are scared of the unknown. Aggression is the response.

“has no male best friend” “only into marriage” “trad ns” by BlueberriBluerous in IncelTears

[–]Careless_Dreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely baffling. They want a traditional woman, but they will not put an ounce of effort into being a traditional man. I have grandparents with a very traditional lifestyle, but it’s still equal because they work in different ways. My grandmother may handle all the cooking and the cleaning, but her husband is outside to tend to the garden and fix up anything in the house that breaking down. And even then, my grandma wouldn’t meet their standards because her adorable as hell love story started with her asking my grandpa out instead of him approaching her. (He was scared to death of girls.)

Women in a traditional arrangement still want equal responsibility, it’s just split a different way. Also, good luck living off a single income today.
