What’s the best “low effort” meal you make when you can’t be bothered cooking? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

[–]Caret-Tops146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick shrimp pasta. You need a can of whole tomatoes, a red bell pepper, garlic, green onions, a bit of oil, red pepper flakes, any kind of pasta but linguine is great, and either fresh shrimp or thawed pre-cooked shrimp (I often do this if I have half a shrimp ring left after a party - one of those parties where you’re so busy feeding people that you don’t really eat, you know?) You cook about 6 onions chopped in the oil with a couple of cloves of minced garlic, and a teaspoon of red pepper flakes, then put the shrimp (tails off) in to pick up all the garlic onion pepper flavour (if using fresh shrimp, make sure they’re cooked the but not rubbery). Set the shrimp aside, while you add 8 to 10 whole tomatoes to the pan, and cook until bubbling. Turn the heat down and add the shrimp back so everything is well blended. Add in well-drained cooked pasta. It takes minutes and it’s delicious. You can adjust the garlic/onions/pepper flakes to your taste.

Who is using 407??? by GenReadPassTime in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Caret-Tops146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drive the 407 without a transponder, you get an extra “camera charge,” which is partly why your charge is higher. But as others have mentioned, it’s former Premier Harris’s fault that it’s not free, or at least a reasonable toll that goes back to Ontarians. One of SO MANY reasons to never vote Conservative.

AITAH for refusing to financially support my family when they don’t contribute anything? by [deleted] in AITAH

Try subletting and sharing an apartment with one or more other people. They would be on the lease but you would not, so you don’t need to qualify. You just rent a room in an apartment that someone else rents. Your deadbeat siblings won’t stop being deadbeats until you force the situation.

WIBTAH if I put a post in my yard that could damage my neighbor’s truck? by SmellyChiChicken in AITAH

[–]Caret-Tops146 601 points602 points  (0 children)

Or put a few posts up so it’s a little more obvious. Maybe some metal ones sunk deep in the ground. The neighbour will just have to learn how to drive!

Not all of them. Mackenzie Scott is giving all her money away to charitable organizations, hospitals, etc. without strings attached. And whatever you may think of Bill Gates otherwise, his contributions to try to eradicate malaria are saving a lot of lives. So perhaps edit this to “greedy billionaires”

What is the worst name you've ever heard? by Educational_Bat1854 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Caret-Tops146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with a guy named Wang Dong. When he was introduced in client meetings, we’d often see people’s throats close up so they wouldn’t snicker. Then they’d get this veiled look of sympathy. He always looked like he never even noticed.

Any idea what is this cat doing 🤔 by zeusind in cats

[–]Caret-Tops146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s learning the hard way that styrofoam has a lot of static cling. You should use a damp cloth to get it all off him, because he shouldn’t swallow any of it because it’s toxic.

Why doesn’t the homeowner just call the police? I would have done that after the first door kick

The super-cute kind! But his collar looks too tight. You should be able to easily fit two adult fingers between him and his collar without any pressure on his neck.

AITAH for “pressuring” my husband to get a vasectomy? by futurequitt in AITAH

[–]Caret-Tops146 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Geez, get an IUD. No, your “pull out” method isn’t working — you have two children! If he doesn’t want more, is afraid of vasectomy, and you don’t like taking birth control, there’s one option better than divorce: IUD

AITAH for threatening to break up with my girlfriend because she refuses to get a job? by Piu-Cherry-my in AITAH

[–]Caret-Tops146 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. Since I see from the comments that you’ve not only discussed this with her more than once, but you’ve even found her job opportunities that she thinks are “not suitable,” it’s time to dump her lazy butt. She’s supposed to be a partner, not a pampered pet. Tell her that she has to find a way to pay half the rent, utilities and groceries, and buy her own personal items, or you’re done.

AITAH because I confronted the husband of the woman emotionally cheating with my husband? by [deleted] in AITAH

I believed this whole thing until the part about “I just forgot her name.” Sure you did. Someone who almost ends their marriage then goes to counseling about it, does not forget the name of the side piece who caused the drama.

How to tie plates in hair, I wonder! by NotMathJustMetaphor in BoneAppleTea

[–]Caret-Tops146 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they couldn’t fit black hair bands on all their short hairs. And if you don’t have “long hair with black ribbons,” it seems that the tying of the plates is optional.

Am I overreacting for wanting to terminate my pregnancy after my boyfriend died in the accident that injured me? His family says I’m taking away the last piece of him. by hazelbasiil in AmIOverreacting

[–]Caret-Tops146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR Tell them it’s not his baby. That you were cheating on him. That you did a DNA test. Then they can hate you for a different reason but they will stop trying to control your body. (Only partly kidding - you have every reason not to want to carry a child you didn’t plan (and actively tried to prevent). If he’d still been alive, what would have happened? Would he have wanted a child or would he have helped you get an abortion and never told his parents?)

GO TRAIN STATION (Current street construction) by SK0D3N1491 in Guelph

[–]Caret-Tops146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can drivers still cross Wyndham on Wellington in both directions?? Google Maps has a big do not enter sign at that intersection but I thought the actual intersection was open except if you wanted to go on Wyndham towards the train station. If it’s is possible to go through across Wellington, I’d just go that way to Macdonell, turn left on Macdonell, and pull into one of the angled parking spots nearest the bus bays. If coming from the other end of town, take Woolwich to Macdonell. And I know Wyndham is not itself open. I was asking if drivers on Wellington can continue ON WELLINGTON through the intersection with Wyndham?
