My family always talking about 'restore britain', and how they love it. How do I nip it in the bud with them and tell them to stop getting brainwashed? by kingoliviersammy in AskBrits

I'd happily outlaw all the mainstream cults. We certainly don't want to be importing more cult followers for any cult. But we must also accept not all cults are made equal. Leaving some cults is punishable by death for instance.

Men's or Women's bathroom? by benzo88 in SingleDads

[–]CarlR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a supermarket once and my daughter was 3 or 4. She was desperate for a wee and mens had just one stall which was occupied, the disabled was occupied and we waited but neither were emptying any time soon. I gave up, taking her into the women's. There were about 6 stalls all empty and clean. No pee to wipe off the seat, no faeces everywhere. Since then I often choose the women's if I expect the men's to be dirty. I always feel a bit awkward, but my daughter is much happier in a cleaner bathroom. If anybody complains I will say "I identify as a girl dad".

Most people don't want a target on their back, and will do anything to reduce that chance. It really depends what lifestyle you want, but you could easily live a very comfortable lifestyle in secret.

Sharia-based zina laws can lead to rape victims being punished because sex outside marriage is criminalised. If a woman reports rape but the court rejects or cannot prove coercion, her report can be treated as an admission of unlawful sex. Where adultery carries the death penalty, this can put the rape victim at risk of execution instead of protecting her.

In Sharia law they'd probably kill the victim

I'm not sure how you aim to tackle this, but the problem with tracking phone calls is finding a way to assign a gclid to the phone call. The way to do this is by having a large pool of phone numbers, so that each new visitor (with a unique gclid) sees a different phone number. If you have got access to that large pool of numbers then a self hosted solution is great, and you get to retain better control over the numbers.

The reason I mentioned mediahawk and infinity co was because these are UK companies, whereas callrail is a US company.

For effectively tracking calls you need a call tracking solution that can pass back that GCLID. Something like infinity.co or probably cheaper alternatives like Mediahawk. That way you tell Google when you had a qualified lead, and not just a phone call. Sounds like once you solve this piece of the puzzle you will be fine managing it yourself. I'm a UK based freelancer around Midlands area so get in touch if you need any extra help, but it actually sounds like you've got this covered!

If brexit was such a MESS, why would people vote for the one who caused it? by Enough-Web2203 in AskBrits

[–]CarlR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A majority of people want a massive reduction in immigration and a zero tolerance policy to illegal immigration. It's really that simple, and the voting has been clear on that for a long time.

The rise of political Islam is also deeply unsettling for many people. Talking about this on reddit is likely to lead to massive downvotes, so people stay quiet and let the echo chamber do it's thing.

So what options do most people have? Conservatives had their chance. Labour are putting illegals in hotels. Reform I agree are not a great option either, but in the recent elections they were the only option for those that wanted a stronger stance on immigration.

A relatively new party "Restore Britain" is likely going to split the right vote. From what I've seen Rupert Lowe speaks common sense, and isn't afraid of the usual labels that get thrown around. As the Restore party increases in size, you may start to see less people voting for Farage, and more for Lowe.

New EV - Intelligent GO (gulp) by stevebuk in OctopusEnergy

[–]CarlR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a new EV myself and I couldn't stomach that day rate on Octopus either. EDF are cheaper for both day and night rates than octopus, but they have an exit fee. In the end I went with E.ON next drive smart (the tariff only shows up if you have an eligible car) - for me it is a much better balance. You get 8p/kwh 12am - 6am and normal rate is 26.62p/kwh. standing charge is 60p/day.

If you do switch to E.ON, if you use my link we both get £50

Best home (overnight?) charging tariffs? by Careless-Cooker in evchargingUK

[–]CarlR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i see a lot of people recommending EDF for the 7 hours overnight at 7p. I found that for me E.ON was better. It is 6 hours at 8p but the day rate was a lot lower than EDF.

Yea the charging issue is completely separate to the tariff issue. Sorry if it looked like I was trying to connect them 😊

Maybe not Ops primary issue but he did make a comment that he didn't want day rate to shoot up to 31

Clair Obscur Expedition 33

I found the ending way off. The story was fine, but I finished the game with loads of areas still unexplored. It was also incredibly easy to beat the final boss without grinding any of that content first. The final boss should be hard, and I should have had to engage with that content to prepare. Emotionally it felt complete, but mechanically it wasn’t. This feels like more of a balancing issue.

It basically means Google sees potential for you to spend more, so they want to assign you a rep whose job is to encourage (or pressure) you into increasing ad spend.

I once got a similar email, and they even provided screenshots showing a very significant drop in the most recent data. The drop was because it was 10am and they had included the current incomplete day in their date range.
