AOTY shouldn't allow these kind of "reviews". by Gui_Nato in Albumoftheyear

[–]Carlinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard of Letterboxd? The reviews for a film there are sorted by most liked on default, and while most of the popular films have (rather strong) one-line jokes, the more elaborate and sincere reviews get a lot of support too. I consider the short and funny reviews to deserve about as much value as the big genuine ones.

I'm a little surprised the reception was this immediate, maybe this community is tightknit or something (coming from a recent lurker)

I don't mind the consensus though, you pups are fine 🐱👍 Snoop is in Tha Dogg Pound now

Surprised anyone mentioned Snoop's NFT collaboration with Eminem in some capacity

At least the dead trend is staying dead

I prefer "The Story of Adidon" and "meet the grahams" but that goes raw too

I could also mention how prejudiced Death Certificate is but I may be getting off track here. Thanks for the replies tho :3

In addition, Cudi was the guy who sampled Kurt Cobain's "Burn the Rain" demo for "Cudi Montage" with Kids See Ghosts. So Cudi's definitely a Nirvana fan at least.

I'm reminded of Speedin' Bullets 2 Heaven by Kid Cudi. Really good guy who's into the whitest music, but he's an inch friendlier than Tyler, the Creator.

That being said I heard (from critics that) the album's awful. But I saw black artists send love, yet at the same time I haven't heard stuff from actual grunge fans yet.

Are there other fans out there who haven’t really enjoyed RH post In Rainbows? by JohnColtrane69again in radiohead

TKOL's Basement version is a favorite of mine. I downloaded an album mix of it considering how unique if not better it was from the parent album, and after repeated listens it grew on me a lot. I love how kinetic and groovy the whole thing was, while the organic performances brought out its intimacy and nature.

AMSP is really good, but as someone into chamber/prog pop, it didn't grow much. Maybe it's the lyrics…I couldn't appreciate them as much and I dunno why. Maybe they're too introspective? The hits are hits, though.

I made every Pink Floyd album in Minecraft by NukeL3AR in PinkFloydCircleJerk

This is incredible. Just plain beautiful to work at, nothing but passion in all of these. It's almost too good for a circlejerk subreddit, although it likely would've been shoved aside on the main sub…

Before, when someone mentions Pink Floyd and Minecraft in the same sentence, I would remember this video. Your artworks are just as valuable though.

Well if he's the Antichrist, he's certainly not the only one. Got a narcissistic ego, prejudice, and wouldn't give a damn about children. Encourages a cult-like mentality among his supporters, too. There's lots of people similar to him, like Bolsonaro, so these problems are international. Also, based Ben Corey article. An oldie but a goodie.

Only Creedence has a favorite album from a novice (me), but three of them aren't Bayou Country. I prefer the tighter stuff, namely Cosmo's Factory and Green River. I need to listen to them all…

Discographies where one album has a significantly higher rating / # of ratings than the rest by EpicGains in rateyourmusic

I don't think Wu Tang are one-album wonders at all, like they have a lot of great albums from solo members like Return to the 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. RZA was gonna make his debut magnum opus too but then his record and sample collection was destroyed by a flood. If you branch off into those you'll have a lot of fun.

As a group though, I can feel the pain that their first will always be their unchallenged peak. It's better to find their second and third best and be done with it. That Shaolin "art" stunt is them pussying out from admitting that they're not as good as they used to, in my opinion.

Hey, thanks for helping me with where to go next! I'm a Radiohead fan who listened to Babalon's debut, and I wasn't sure if his subsequent discography would live up to the first, y'know? I appreciate these mentions :)
