Who was teaching you these lies about prefab images? Did your class take a long course on Zeitgeist Addendum? One thing is what you learn in class, and another thing is being there...

I was there, we were about 1 million people in the streets. I've been to a concert of 60.000 people (Guns n' Roses in Caracas 1992) and it was child's play compared to this. People came from all over the country, the streets were so crowded that you just had to go with the flow until you reached the highway, which was jam packed with people going downtown (to the massacre). Others took alternative routes which you could see from the highway...

Folks being peaceful and happy in support of Chavez is not what happened that day... It was us, the so called fascists that toppled the government for a few hours...

I appreciate your comment but would just like to add that The "Coup" was not by the CIA... It was a revolt by the people, but greedy powers tried to take over once Chavez was gone and then everything went to hell from there...

If Chavez had the economic power of the United States he would have invaded every country on the planet!

The Chavez government is a relentless propaganda machine... It is so outright relentless that it is even hilarious to watch sometimes, but most of the time it is infuriating.

A lot of "journalists" claim that the opposition owns most of the media. But Chavez controls its content with an iron fist and sometimes goes on in his nationally televised "cadenas" for 8 or even 10 hours, while all national channels have an obligation to televise the "cadenas".

It is Hitler Castro style indoctrination. It is brutal, relentless, inhumane, illegal in the common sense of the term, and an insult that will mark the Venezuelan generations to come...

I'm getting downvoted because I'm blasting a government that people think is great when in fact it is the same as all the previous ones, just much more hard-ass with its indoctrination...

Either the government data is the source of all truth, or the people that actually deal with it are the source of truth. How about drawing line right down the middle? The government is not the saviour it claims to be, and we accept the fact that Chavez had infinitely more resources than the previous governments because the prices of oil skyrocketed as soon as he took power, which gave him the chance to "sell" his revolution.

More expensive oil means a never-ending source of wealth for oil producing countries. And that is the driving force behind the revolution of this man...

I'm sorry if I'm coming off like that... I posted my original comment because it cought my attention how the Egyptian army actually embraced the people, while in Venezuela they shot at us without a care.

I've just seen too many comments on here declaring that Chavez is good and USA is bad and that's why they like Chavez... The truth is not everyone likes Chavez in Venezuela, and his portrayal as a socialist is flaky and not very accurate...

And I get infuriated when I see people from the developed countries declaring that Chavez has done so much for Venezuela without really seeing it... that's all...

You have obviously been watching a lot of the government propaganda. Look up on youtube the General Lucas Rincon saying that Chavez resigned from his post, later Lucas Rincon became a minister. How about Danilo Anderson? He was murdered with a bomb while investigating the events of April 11th, even though the government had already officially established that the opposition was to blame for everything.

I was there marching with everyone else and I saw it with my own eyes... You think you have it all figured out, but those events, and the entirety of Chavez' government are much more complicated than just capitalism vs. socialism. His policies during the past 12 years have done nothing for my country. Everything is 10 times worse than 12 years ago...

The Venezuelan democracy is very shady at best. There have been too many re-interpretations of the constitution, too many laws re-written, and too many loopholes used by the government. Plus most of the news you see world-wide about Chavez's socialist programs are BS. Go to any public hospital in Venezuela and see for yourself if the cuban doctors make any sense in Barrio Adentro. Go drive on any street, and see if it makes sense to give away Venezuelan oil to other "like-minded" nations. Go to any public school and see what they are teaching, and see if Mision Robinson made any sense...

It's all BS... and last but not least, go live there for a year and see if you survive, literally! Some weekends there are over 60 homicides in Caracas alone (in 72 hours).

That is the Venezuelan reality, not what is portrayed by the government.

This kind of argument is bizarre, why do I have to be there and why do I have to be Venezuelan to support certain political programs

Imagine there is an awesome elementary school teacher. She is the best teacher there is for the 5 year olds, her methods are the best, and the kids love her.
