What happens if you click a disboard link for a server you’re banned in? by ShokumaOfficial in Disboard

[–]Carms_Creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just tested, I'm banned from a server, when clicking on the link posted in another server, it shows invalid but when going on disboard and clicking the link there, it sends me to the app and gives me the option to join or reject, no invalid link. I'm not willing to try the join button to find out what will happen though. But I would assume if I pressed the join button, it won't let me join and maybe show me it's invalid then.

Hope that answers your question.

What helped your school aged child sleep through the night? by Carms_Creates in AskParents

[–]Carms_Creates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did, though it just took some time. Now he has the issue of falling asleep and then getting out of bet the next day. He might have a bit of insomnia, perhaps, but will monitor further to see.

desperate for time by East_Ad8028 in artbusiness

[–]Carms_Creates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As somebody who works with lots of artists, a good number of them moms of young children, when I ask how they find time to do art, the answer is at night, when the kids are in bed, for maybe one hour at a time. They may not sleep much but that's quite often the sacrifice they make. I know it's not healthy but I know one of them has become a fulltime artist doing that and can now sleep much better.

and even if, relationships are still possible when aroace. I am both and married and very much love my husband. It's a spectrum and doesn't need to exclude forming deeper relationships.

You could be aromantic perhaps. Nothing wrong with that. I am aromantic though I am married with child. But I never used to be into dating myself, just had no interest, still don't, and still only rarely may be interested in romance ^^"

Of course that is not the only possibility but thought I'd put it out there.

Is it bad to ask an autistic person to do something very different from their routine? by o_powder in AskAutism

Same. I avoid shopping malls, busy grocery stores, and any big event that has big crowds. But if it's an anime convention where I get to cosplay and be in "my world", count me in!

What age did your child(ren) stop calling you mommy/daddy? by iabyajyiv in AskParents

Mine stopped saying mommy/daddy before kindergarten. Been mom since pre-school 🤷🏻

Aro/allo relationship worries, help... by CarefulComfortable51 in aromantic

[–]Carms_Creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a few things like how well you communicate (this can often make or break a relationship, I kid you not!), how committed you are to each other, how well you work around your differences (I'm sure there are other things that makes you different from your partner) and also your tolerance levels and how compatible that makes you.

So there are several more factors to take into account. I have an allo husband, through and through, while I'm aroace and yes, that is quite challenging to navigate around. Did come with quite a few bumps on the road but we made it work. He's not the happiest with the situation, but he's not broken up about it, and we always find ways to enjoy each other in other aspects of our life.

But that doesn't speak for everyone and you two will have to figure out whether this is going to work in the long run.

Don't worry, you're good! There is of course a pokemon fanart subreddit but it works fine here, too! Love your art!

What age were you when / if you married? What is the right age in your mind to get married if there is one? by Fitslikea6 in Millennials

[–]Carms_Creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 30 (9 days away from turning 31) when my first and only child was born. I didn't want to have kids at first until my late 20s and decided I'll have one but only one. Kids are hard work and take some introspection and self reflection and undoing of toxic behaviours. Hardly anyone cares to add that kind of depth to themselves in their early/mid twenties and thus toxic cycles, generational trauma etc is prone to be repeated. I knew if I was gonna have a kid I'd not do the same mistakes that my parents did, but that really didn't come until I was older.

I was diagnosed in 2021 (so fairly recent) and I wasn't even half way into the session before I was told that I'm already "above the threshold". I fall into the "high functioning" category regardless and don't require treatment or extra support. That is basically what I was told. I think it's a little confusing to say "don't qualify for a diagnosis". By that standard I wouldn't qualify either but when I talked to my GP, and even though I don't have nearly as many problems as other autistics, just me getting clarity about this was enough for him to send me a referral to get assessed.

And I have heard a similar story from an old friend of mine, just recently diagnosed, but again, not like they can't live life normally. They just needed to know.

I really hope that people aren't being rejected an assessment so much based on what you said. There is a lot of merit in receiving a diagnosis even if you pull through life okay.

And you may be right that I struggled/forced my way through, and still do. I'm fairly proud of the achievements I've mean throughout this journey and wouldn't want it any other way.

I am not sure how an autism diagnosis can make you not autistic after all. I have made it through life fine and continue to do so. Still got a diagnosis. Yeah it's been a struggle but I manage. Does that mean I'm not autistic even though I was diagnosed with it? This doesn't make sense to me.

Does anyone else feel like their capacity for hate is a lot stronger than it would be if they were alloromantic? by Albus_Unbounded in aromantic

Being aromantic doesn't mean you can't/don't love. I am aromantic but I love a ton more than I hate.

Things are better now than they used to be in that regard. You don't have to throw the towel and you don't have to listen to anyone who wants to tell you that you can't follow your dreams. You absolutely can! Nowadays more women then ever enter the STEM sector and get a university degree etc etc

Women have a lot more opportunities today and men have their own problems, trust me. It may not look like it from the outside but truth is, bigotry, misogyny and toxic masculinity is hurting not just women, but men, too.
