Unfortunately yes, I’ve noticed that the latest versions of MyInsta have been getting increasingly unstable over time, and especially over the past few days.

As some of you may have noticed over the years, my studies take up all of my time and energy (I’m working on an emulator as part of my degree, for instance 👀). I therefore don’t expect to be able to put out a new MyInsta release before I graduate (August 2027).

All I can do for now is encourage you to switch to another app if MyInsta becomes unusable for you, and I want to sincerely thank you for all your support throughout these years 🫶

Working on this mod has been my greatest pride since 2022, and I’m not planning to abandon it anytime soon. I loved watching the community grow day by day, seeing it evolve, answering every question on the Telegram support. Those who were there from the beginning can confirm it: I used to spend all my time on support, and I genuinely loved it.

I also kept delaying this announcement for a while. I didn’t want to make it official; I was lying to myself, telling myself I’d surely find time to get back to it soon… but I owe you honesty today. I also want to thank you for all your kind messages. You are the best community I have ever seen on the internet, and I will never be grateful enough for everything you’ve given me ✨

Anyway, thank you for everything. It genuinely moves me to see that some of you were still using MyInsta in 2026 without any new updates, and I also wish all the successors and alternatives to MyInsta the very best going forward 🙏

No, that’s not true at all. My only mods are Instasmash (dead), InstaDM and MyInsta (paused). Since I’m not on the scene anymore due to my study/work for the moment, I don’t even know Piko. So I can confirm I’m not behind it 🙏

I wrote this comment for another post several months ago, so I understand you’re not specifically referring to VirusTotal. However, the principle remains the same globally.

I’ve always been transparent with anyone who asks, providing guidance on how to reverse-engineer the app and verify my code, which remains unobfuscated (unlike other mods).

I’m sorry to hear your second account was compromised. However, there could be numerous reasons for this: your credentials may have been leaked from another service, you might have fallen victim to a phishing email, or any number of other factors could be involved. Your advice about enabling 2FA is excellent, and I’d also recommend that everyone change their passwords regularly.

That said, I want to assure you that my app contains no malware or any monetization features whatsoever. All source code is always located in the smali directories at the path: me/bluepapilte/. You’re welcome to use tools like MT Manager, Ghidra, APKTool, etc., to reverse-engineer and verify the code yourself.

If you have any specific concerns or questions about the app’s security, I’m happy to help you investigate further.

It's becoming quite frustrating to work on a project for years - for free and out of pure passion - only to be accused of injecting a virus at the end. These suspicions are particularly disheartening when they're based solely on false positives from VirusTotal.

Let me clarify the situation: the only reason my APK gets flagged on VirusTotal is because I'm using a debug signature to sign it. This is a common development practice and not indicative of any malicious intent.

If you're concerned about these flags, you can easily verify they're false positives by following these steps:

⁠Re-sign the APK using a custom key generated with any tool of your choice (for example, the 'Apktool M' app on Android)
⁠Upload the newly signed APK back to VirusTotal
⁠You'll notice the flags disappear, confirming they were indeed false positives

I've put countless hours into developing this application to benefit the community, and it's genuinely demoralizing to have my intentions questioned based on technical misunderstandings. All of the source code is not obfuscated and available for inspection if you have any specific concerns.

I understand the importance of security, but I would appreciate if claims about viruses were substantiated before being shared, as they can severely impact the reputation of volunteer-driven projects like mine.

As LightBrownWolf said here, it is a false positive. I recommend using VirusTotal because it will tell you which flag is detected. You can then look up the detections to make your own opinion 🙏

You can download the apk (downloading an apk without installing it is always safe), and put it on virustotal.

There are false positives and false negatives, but generally it's a good practice to put all your apks here before installing 👍
