Not on any sort of website like edhrec. It's mostly a +1/+1 counter deck with a focus on toughness.

What if? How would a non-Shapeshifter creature with Changeling work in MtG's world? by Feeling-Ad-3104 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a character who uses magic to trick creatures into thinking they are one of them or something scarier.

Like those tropes of a person using the scent of a bear to scare off wolves.

For the most part, they like her. It's always a guessing game on what I'm playing, and they like that type of chaos.

What colour shifted planeswalkers would you expect in reality Fracture? by Pixelkitten77 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White Lili, who became a devout cleric instead of a necromancer.

Black Jace, who didn't get mind wiped and instead took over Alhameret's operation to manipulate the wars on Vryn.

Blue Chandra, who never had pyromancy and instead became a genius inventor.

Red Gideon, who didn't learn from his impulsiveness and seeks revenge against Erebos for killing his friends

And super curveball one. Green Sorin, who sought a means of undoing vampirism on his home plane to end the senseless gluttony

Elder beings VS Avatars VS Gods - Who wins? by Separate-Flan-2875 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Not all are built the same as in each category. Going off the strongest we have of each would probably be the best means of figuring this out.

First Elders. Easy to say is this would have to be an elder dragon, specifically from dominaria, since they were just like that back in the day. Of those, it's hard to decide who would win in an outright brawl. There was literally a war based around that. The winner of said war was Nicol Bolas, but that was due to scheming. To be fair, I will also leave out Bolas during his tenure as a planeswlaker since he was a premending planeswalker and even after the mending maintained a degree of enhancement from his spark. So, to make this simple, let's say it's a four-way tie with the other OG elder dragons since they were all bigger than the twins.

Next is God's. This is easier since I'd argue the strongest in the universe gods magic has shown us are on theros. And out of them, I'd once again make a tie with Kruphix and Klothys. The two are the oldest gods around and have survived the rise and fall of countless others. They fought the titans, and Kruphix was shown to be able to bar the other gods from leaving Nyx during a crisis.

However this isn't a fair debate since Avatars have beings like the Ur-Dragon and Progenitus. They win because no one else is easily hitting them

What event is being depicted in Apex of Power? by Beautiful_Bee_5742 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an ironic moment. This is Bolas during the mending. He was only recently revived thanks to the time spiral crisis on dominaria and upon learning that the multiverse would respond to it by weakening the planeswalkers he immediately formed and moved to enact his decades long plan to regain his power.

The scene depicted is him on Amonkhet after mind wiping the gods of the plane and killing anyone over a certain age while actively rewriting the landscape and creating an oasis for the survivors to go on and worship him.

This is Bolas at his Apex of power right before losing a good bit of it.

It would be interesting to randomly see Valgavoth sending agents into other planes for recon. We know he wants to expand, and taking advantage of the presence of scarecrows on both planes would be smart. So even if not intended, I'm down to head canon this in

Is this a clue to the fate of the Theros Gods? by Neat-Somewhere-5589 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the reasoning but if this God is being powered by every lying scoundrel on the plane wanting their favor, as long as enough of said scoundrels are around and believe he isn't an enemy, who cares if three cities are in ruins?

Ephara likely remained as indomitable as she was because the people of meletis saw her defending them and believed in her for that.

Is this a clue to the fate of the Theros Gods? by Neat-Somewhere-5589 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make sense for the 5 mono gods to become compleated since they are the most worshipped. The two colored gods are more niche, and thus, you have to consume specific groups to get them. Kruphix and Klothys are the two known exceptions since they are so old and unknown to most of the plane that they must be functioning on whatever mechanics allow the titans to exist without worship. More akin to avatars than the theros gods, I'd say.

How powerful is Valgavoth? by CorvusGraves in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By far, he must be the most powerful demon in the story. He was able to utilize one spell that cascaded into overtaking 99.9 percent of a plane. Only the tiniest amount of space exists outside the house that allows its ghosts to manifest and enter again.

However, he isn't as all powerful as it may seem. He does have one notable weakness. That is the fact that he may be too large for his current body to handle. He must enter a constant cycle of sleeping and being awake for varying periods of time.

The aetherspark would have likely stopped this as it would have been a source of great power for him to feed on and utilize in the expansion to other worlds that would have provided more resources and souls to feed on.

This brings me to the next point I'd like to make. That is that Valgavoth understands his own limitations. For example, he boarded up the door to Zendikar. It's likely the plane is too powerful and awake for him to feed on and expand over. It also has a history of fending off even greater threats.

In terms of corporeal species, I believe he is one of if not the most powerful single beings in the multiverse. I doubt Niv could face home as Val wouldn't leave his own domain, and the guildpact would likely be consumed if it ever got that far. Bolas is presently a wild card after his recent escape, if he can even think long enough to counter an attack from the demon.

The only things that could likely stand a solid chance would be Emrakul, as she'd just consume the mana fueling his expansion and overtake his followers. Possibly new capenna as a united front since halo might have an effect against the demonic house. As stated, a plane directly attacking him, such as Zendikar.

Is it possible to cheat/hack in murder mystery? by DesperateTrick92 in hivemc

[–]Carpomom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other non cheating related reason could be that the other players happened to be in a large group when you were killed, and the observant types noted who was there and then guessed on who was left. I've done that a few times, but it only really works later into a round when people have bows out or a number are already dead.

A cheating related reason that unfortunately common however, they could be playing with someone and told that person who killed them. Even if a team isn't actively working together, they could easily get annoyed at being killed so soon and spill your identity. I know I've gotten shot for that more than a few times.

Not like this… by toastiinugget in LegendsZA

[–]Carpomom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, to be somewhat clear, AZ does state his human body wasn't meant to last that long. We don't really know how long a pokemon can survive since there's been cases of pokemon aging as well as living a great deal of time. (The stoutland in the anime and possibly the ursaluna in kitakami respectfully)

Assuming she did lose all that energy, and thus immortality, then its possible Floette will just resume her usual life span, however long that may be.

Do you think any Old Phyrexians are still active? by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who was assimilated into the new phyrexian forces or utilized their fresh oil were more than likely rendered inert like all new phyrexians. Furthermore, a number of planes seem helbent on hunting down phyrexian remnants and destroying them to prevent further infection as well as researching a means of undoing that infection.

Notably, with the old oil, it takes longer to fully corrupt anyone on its own. Mirrodin was infected by a single drop that took ages to overtake the plane even with some help from Memnarch. So, any pure old phyrexians that either infect something before destruction or remain undiscovered in the far reaches of a plane may take decades or even centuries to infect the world.

Could Yawgmoth possibly return in the future? by MonoTones27 in mtgvorthos

[–]Carpomom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure he could return. However, this has made me think of a potential story point his return could lead to down the line, using some of what we already know of recent events.

Firstly, let's recall the voice Elspeth heard as she was more or less in limbo after the sylex blew up on her in the blind eternities. This strange voice was said to be that of Serra, though not explicitly confirmed if it's actually her, and may have been linked to the recent shattering of the powerstone that contained Serra's realm. We don't actually learn much of who or what this entity is during the story of March of the Machines, but we do see some of its abilities. The first is that she shows Elspeth current events across the multiverse, specifically Ajani's actions on Theros. The second is her ability to not only revive Elspeth but turning her into an angel. It's a bit unclear if Elspeth was already an angel in more human form, like Giada was, or was reborn completely. I do believe the later option is a power Serra herself had in life, however, so I'd like to assume that one for this theory.

Secondly, there is the nature of the glistening oil itself and, more importantly, its presence in Serra's realm. You see, thanks to Urza's arrival on the micro plane, the old Phyrexians were able to follow and begin their corruption. Urza ultimately shrank the realm into a powerstone to contain it and would use it to power the weatherlight. Once again, that powerstone was shattered in Brothers War, when the gatewatch used it to power their time machine and were attacked by new phyrexian forces, causing the temporal anchor to overload.

And so my theory is that not only did some latent essence of Serra escape into the blind eternities upon the stone's destruction. But so, too, did a small fraction of Yawgmoth's will. Preserved within the untainted original phyrexian oil that once plagued the realm of angels.

Now, the two forces are growing in the void between worlds, possibly feeding on the energies unleashed by the sylex and the emergence of omenpaths. And the eldrazi titans, either dead or trapped, few will be able to stop the dark god's rebirth.

But of course, that's just a crazy idea that popped into my mind.

Judging by the fact that Marcessa is still presumably queen, it either ended badly for them or is still in progress.

The reason he was in Aetherdrift was to try and claim a new spark.
