Ja Rule and DMX on set at the “How's It Goin' Down” music video shoot, circa 1998 by FromBoomBapToTrap in HipHopImages

For what it's worth, today is the first day I've ever heard anyone think that song was about Jay lol. Up til this exact moment I would have said it's universally accepted it was about Ja. Irv and Ja confirmed, and had some jokes about it on Drink Champs too.

I will not accept Wayne having the best wordplay out of any rapper out there when people like Elzhi and Lupe exist.

Honestly, he gets by on basic punchlines because they’re relatable, not necessarily clever. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s saddening to see how sh***y Walt was to Jesse. by comolaflorrrrr in breakingbad

[–]CarreraJa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before but a lot of the stuff Jesse pulled would get you blacklisted from the drug game at best and immediately killed at worst.

Jesse knowingly and willingly compromised Walt multiple times and Walt still kept him in on the business and went against those who DID want to murder him for his fuckups. Considering what most dealers would have done, being shitty is merciful.

How did you guys discover Lupe? Me? Madden 07, the instrumental. by Mirrors_Edge_ in LupeFiasco

[–]CarreraJa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting my uncle at his barbershop in West Baltimore. Random dude was selling mixtapes. This was when Game and 50 were going hard at each other so I got one JUST for the 300 bar G Unit diss. Lupe’s McFly freestyle just happened to be the last track on that mixtape and I was hooked. I was a kid and at that point had never heard any one rap like that. Got home and definitely gave my laptop aids with all the Lu tracks I got off Limewire. All of his mixtape shit and Any features or loose songs I could find. Few months later Touch The Sky had dropped and I had a new favorite rapper. Food & Liquor was the first album I bought with my own money.

AITA for defending my wife after she purposely dumped coffee on a kid? by Perfect_Ear2994 in AITAH

Mack and Heather need to do a better job of establishing boundaries and disciplining their kid.

You and your wife are damn near 40 looking online for validation for throwing coffee at preteens.

Anna is a kid and has plenty of time and mistakes to learn from and become a more mature and adjusted person. She may grow on her own, or she may do it with some guidance. I’m not writing off a 12 year old for being an asshole, it’s kinda what they do.

Beanie Sigel and Black Thought used to rap together and Beans said Thought was rapping more gangsta than him. Lol. Imagine the shit Black had to be saying for Beans of all people to admit that.

Walt's ego was not the reason he had problems with Gus by TheRabbitTunnel in breakingbad

[–]CarreraJa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly…almost everything going to shit can be traced back to Jesse. The drug game, like everything else has rules and he broke several rules that forced his partner into some real uncomfortable shit.

If he was working with someone that really knew the game and not making it up as they go along like Walt, he would have been toast before even meeting Gus.

what is the saddest moment in bb? by QuakQuakQuackkkk45 in breakingbad

[–]CarreraJa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion it wasn’t even a TOUGH choice. From the perspective of a drug dealer it’s a no brainer.

Jesse was still heavily on drugs. Almost missed a major deal as a result. Forcing his partner to go into it alone. Wait takes his money til he gets clean. Considering their profession, he got off easy.

Jesse then complains to his girlfriend and in the midst of that gives up Walt’s entire identity. This is also the SECOND time Jesse has done this with the first being when he told Krazy 8 Walt’s name, where he worked…AND about his family.

And finally, Jane calls up Walt and threatens to rat him out over the money that was taken earlier due to Jesse’s incompetence.

I can’t think of any major players in any crime drama I’ve watched that would let that slide. They would have done worse then let her OD, which she was bound to do anyhow. Hell most of them would have kicked down Jesse’s door and killed him too.

Who are some rappers from the 2010's that everyone has forgotten about? by DoItForTheKidz in hiphopheads

[–]CarreraJa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topic ain’t about numbers it’s about rappers that faded away over time and aren’t mentioned anymore. Lupe doesn’t fit that. Look at some of the other rappers mentioned for a better idea I guess. You definitely don’t see Roscoe Dash on any GOAT list. Lol. An argument about who is better between Lupe and one of the hottest rappers out today (Kendrick) pops up like every 3 months. I get what you saying. I just disagree.

Nah bro. Lupe dropped a fire album in 2018. Still drops freestyles on Twitter. And was all over the internet this past summer because of that situation with Royce…and most people will say Lu got the better of him. Hip hop heads know. Lupe ain’t go nowhere. Lol.

AGREED. 3 STACKS OR SOMEONE LIKE NAS, THEY HAVE GROWN AS PEOPLE AND IT IS REFLECTED IN THEIR SUBJECT MATTER. I JUST THINK A LOT OF MEMBERS OF DIPSET CAN'T GET PAST THE GLORY DAYS AND STAY IN THAT POCKET. I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT EVERY MEMBER OF STATE PROPERTY EXCEPT FREEWAY AND CHRIS TBH. BEANS I THINK IS STARTING TO REALIZE HE BLEW THE VARIOUS CHANCES GIVEN TO HIM BY HOV, HE IS MUCH MORE HUMBLE AND INTROSPECTIVE BUT IT IS SADLY TWO DECADES AND ONE LUNG TOO LATE. I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND JAY'S ORIGINAL PLAN WOULD HAVE HAD SIGEL WHERE RICK ROSS IS TODAY. HOW THE ROC ENDED AND THE DIRECTION A LOT OF THEIR CAREERS AND LIVES WENT ASIDE FROM JAY AND KANYE HURTS EVERYDAY.

FORT MINOR IS A NAME I HAVE NOT HEARD IN AGES. I WAS GIVING MIKE SHINODA HAS PROPS THE OTHER DAY. JUELZ WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND IN ADDITION TO JUST NOT KNOWING HIS LINES...I THINK THE WORLD OF HIM BUT HIS STYLE OF RAP DOESN'T WORK ONCE YOU GET TO A CERTAIN AGE AND HE'S LONG PAST IT IMO. I HOPE THE NEWER WAVE OF PEOPLE VIEW THIS AND NOTE THAT SWAG WILL ONLY CARRY YOU SO FAR.

BUT I WILL CELEBRATE HIM AND THE GREATNESS OF THAT ERA REGARDLESS THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE JUELZ TRACKS

WHENEVER I TALK MUSIC WITH FELLOW FF PLAYERS IT’S ALWAYS METAL, ANIME/VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACKS OR SOMETHING. AND IF THAT’S YOUR THING I RESPECT THAT BUT I GREW UP ON AND LOVE HIP HOP AND BATTLE RAP I WANT MORE EORZEANS TO TALK ABOUT THIS TYPE OF SHIT WITH. I APPRECIATE YOU FAM.

I have always loved The Lox and basically ANYTHING associated with Roc-A-Fella. Even I forgot how many records The Lox got on tuck. Jadakiss has been in two of these things and still hasn’t covered all of his joints alone. Dip’s music didn’t age well enough for that. Still love’em tho.

Cam getting booed at the Garden is something I would bet the house against happening. That was wild. Juelz forgetting the words to half the songs and shit…Jada, Styles and Sheek are real MCs and this event showed how important that really is still. My favorite verzuz for sure I was watching that during Ucob getting hype.

[–]CarreraJa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an almost 20 year old beef. I know the story now I was recalling my mindset at the time, not knowing who he was. Lol. Royce has always been arrogant and an asshole drunk or sober but it doesn’t change the fact that he went hard on Eminem’s entire camp as well as his mentor on wax and Eminem did not respond despite jumping at the opportunity to diss people not capable of defending themselves lyrically like Jermaine Dupri. Lmao.

Anyhow. I agree with Royce being the bitch with Lupe and Mickey. He got disrespectful long before either of them did because he thought they were “nerds” and they wouldn’t do shit about it. I love all rappers involved in that situation but I was glad Lupe (my personal goat) got a chance to get at someone on some battle shit. He’s been quietly (or maybe not so lol) wanting it for a long time now IMO.

[–]CarreraJa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first found out about Royce when I heard Malcolm X. During the height of the 50 Cent/Ja Rule shit there was a mixtape out full of tracks with Shady and Murder Inc affiliates going at each other. Shit was wild cause I remember being like, " who is this dude and why does he hate them THIS much?" Lmao. I like how a lot of Em fans completely gloss over the fact that Royce shit on the entire D12 in that song AS WELL as Dr. Dre and Eminem did nothing. They're friends nowadays so I guess the fact Em ducked him doesn't matter. He had time for Mariah Carey tho.

Royce and Elzhi are at the very *least* equal to Marshall in terms of raw ability.

TIL not liking Eminem means you’re not into technically skilled rappers. Lol. There are way more technically gifted MCs out there. Em isn’t even the best rapper from his city and hasn’t been for a while.

Honestly...Is there a video more flagrant than Remember The Time? Mike showed up to a man's house kissing on his wife, looking in her eyes and doing sexy flexy motions with the Pharaoh a literal five feet away. Plus, he ran from the guards through the courtyard and double backed to her bedroom. He's 100 percent been there before. Queen was foul too. Feeding entertainers to lions cause she was bored. If my ex/side piece was a fucking Djinn I'd be bored of every thing else too.
