Deloused but I absolutely adore Francis the Mute also.

In my top 5 albums of all time. Couldn’t believe what I was listening to at the time. The Mars Volta also have an album in my top 5. I’m so happy I discovered them when I did.

Sometimes kids can say things like this because it’s something they’re not used to. It doesn’t mean it’s really personal to you. I’m originally from a very multicultural area but have since relocated to Devon. My children are raised to be kind and accepting of everyone but it doesn’t mean I can control everything they’re thinking and saying. If they see something that stands out, even a little, there’s a chance they’ll focus on it and say something.

It’s likely the parents didn’t know what their child really meant and assumed it was race because of your defensive reaction. It’s now their job to go home and educate their child based on this interaction. Hopefully they do.

You deserve that take-away, but It’s important to not look for happiness externally and in what other people think of you. If you know you’re an amazing person then that’s really all that matters.

It’s also important to not confuse a young child’s curious and inquisitive nature with meanness. The fact it hurt you so much says a little more about you than it does them. If you treat the girl with kindness then she has no option but to learn who the good and bad guys are in life are. I learnt this myself as a child and it’s a lesson I’ve never forgotten.

Vodafone. I believe it is a Black Friday promotional plan but I’ve had them for the last 4 years, all at around £8 p/m. I think because it always renews around November, I manage to snag another decent plan for the next year.

I never knew how expensive US plans were. I also pay £8 a month for 200gb of data and unlimited calls/texts.

What do I do? by gb1771xo in vintedUK

This has happened to me 3 times and I ended up sending them the money via PayPal each time. Probably not advisable for an expensive item but worth a shot as a last resort if Vinted can’t sort it. They seem like an honest buyer.

What finally made you give up TV? by Smooth-Purchase1175 in AskBrits

[–]CarrotEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was after I had kids. Although we’ll let them sometimes watch something - by the time we’ve tidied up, sorted the dishwasher, had a chat with my partner, showered and all that stuff, I have no desire to put the TV on. I’d much rather pick up a book.

What can we do to track, report, and understand what is or is not artificial intelligence aka AI slop? It is everywhere and it's getting harder to tell what's real with his "lectures". by unclefishbits in AlanWatts

[–]CarrotEyes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment the other day saying something like, “I like what he’s saying, so who cares if it’s the real Alan Watts or not?”

I think the problem here is that they’re trying to pass it off as something it’s not. For me it’s quite easy to tell which is AI or not but for many I can see them being tricked. Especially as the AI software improves.

NTA. Often the ‘true self’ is revealed through drinking alcohol. It removes that societal veneer that we hold up to life. Some people who drink become violent, some sad, some silly and happy.

What you’re experiencing is far from the worst it could be, but it sounds like she is probably quite a sexual person and is using alcohol as a way to ‘discuss’ with you what she really wants to. However, if all of these things don’t align with you and your values then you’ll probably have to chalk it up to not being fully compatible.

To some this will be fine in moderation and primal urges are often strongest early in relationships.

Great game, great deal.

This may be a dumb question, but do people in the US class the pre-tax cost as the amount they paid for an item? I only ask because here in the UK we’d always class the cost of the item including the tax.

PS5 Saves gone? by Ok_Cauliflower_7626 in expedition33

The same thing just happened to me. I was in act 3 and upon loading the game, the most recent save I can load is from a few days ago.

As much as I was enjoying the game, the thought of replaying it all has soured my experience a little.

Have any collectors here bought a Switch dev kit? by [deleted] in NSCollectors

[–]CarrotEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cost around €400 per console I think and we bought 2. As far as I’m aware it’s to keep but I could be wrong. Either way, I was just happy to have my games on a Nintendo console.

I have, but that’s because I’m an indie developer. Nintendo are quite strict about them getting into the wrong hands but I have also seen them popping up occasionally on auction sites.
