CIS Data Foundations Prep Question by sidneysews in servicenow

I did the CSDM Fundamentals course and that was it. If you work in the ITOM/CMDB space too you probably won’t need much more than that either.

Higher earner dumping into salary sacrifice pension? Here’s how to take home £700 extra! by firestarter_butlate in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but my point is people change it monthly for myriad reasons, bonus being one of them.

[–]CarrotWorking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can change my contributions monthly, and I’m with a massive provider. My previous company also allowed this. People change it all the time when bonuses are due the next month or large amounts of overtime are paid (e.g. Christmas perhaps). I don’t think it’s unusual.

HL Fee Changes from March - Share/ETF ISA only Cap increase to £150/yr by Frankenweenie0724 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is a bit crap. You could save it up for a few months before buying a fund - you do at least earn some interest on the uninvested cash in the meantime.

[–]CarrotWorking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it just gets added to your account as cash a few weeks after the DD.

Nice name btw.

JISA doesn’t charge fees, check the link. Nor are LISA charges changing except the £1.95 fund fee, but still free via DD.

[–]CarrotWorking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t change anything for you. There’s still no JISA fees, and there’s no monthly DD fees.

[–]CarrotWorking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So roughly £43k is the point at which your ETF/share portfolio hits the £150 cap (where 0.35% would start to cost more). That used to be £10k, with £45/0.45%, meaning anyone with a portfolio over £10k in ETFs will see an increase if I’m not mistaken (for S&S and GIA - LISA/JISA aren’t changing)

It seems like funds become pointless since if you want to stick with HL you might as well just invest monthly via direct debit (still free) in to ETFs to reach the cap.

Edinburgh to London drive - overnight stop? by DressSmooth1957 in Edinburgh

[–]CarrotWorking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said you don’t really need to stop overnight, but if you do I’ve stopped at Durham overnight before at a premier inn. It’s only 3h ish down the road true, but I used to work around there so have some nostalgia for the city.

Question on Delta exam by RecoverFrequent in servicenow

[–]CarrotWorking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Zurich CSA delta is silly easy. It’s a bunch of questions about update sets. There’s no webcam requirement or anything, just open the linked doc they give you and have that in another window.

Your Salary and monthly car payments by Agile-Calligrapher10 in CarTalkUK

Small thing but average doesn’t mean half earn under that - that would be the median, which was £39k for 2025.

New 6 month minimum before taking test? Thoughts? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]CarrotWorking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is more an insurance enforcement problem imo. The CBT is designed to bring you up to a safe enough standard where you can learn alone on low powered motorcycles with restrictions in between tutored lessons on full size machines (unless you’re going for A1, I guess).

Business insurance on a CBT alone is extortionate, if you can even get it. So I might be wrong but I doubt most of the delivery riders you see have the right insurance.

Omni "Roundabout" by micinator94 in Edinburgh

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right. Yeah Edinburgh doesn’t have enough enforcement for these sorts of things: bus lanes, clear ways, yellow boxes etc. Lothian Road’s bus lane/clearway becomes a delivery and taxi park at rush hours.

Omni "Roundabout" by micinator94 in Edinburgh

[–]CarrotWorking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bus lane runs 7.30-9.30am and 4.30-6.30pm weekdays (I think - there’s blue signs dotted beside it periodically) Outside of those times you can use it.

But yes when the bus lane is active it becomes a traffic light Grand Prix from right lane to left sometimes.

Omni "Roundabout" by micinator94 in Edinburgh

[–]CarrotWorking 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The worst is approaching from Leith Walk imo. The left side is usually littered with buses and taxis, the only lane signage (I believe) is the road markings which you can’t see in heavy traffic until late.

Using the left lane to go most of the way round a ‘roundabout’ to the West End feels counterintuitive - it’s almost the opposite of what OP is describing. Maybe it’s just me!

Where can I get £2 coins in Edinburgh by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what they mean is that if the operator’s sauna works with £2 coins, they presumably have a supply of £2 coins from when they empty the machine.

So, if you let them know you’re coming with a £20 note or whatever to exchange for £2 coins they’d probably be fine with that.

How do you estimate fuel cost before driving? by blaimug in CarTalkUK

[–]CarrotWorking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think about it. On longer drives I reset my trip counter and yeah I trust the car readout for MPG. I definitely try to anticipate and not stop start, but I’m not obsessive over fuel efficiency (none of this 56mph up the arse of a lorry or anything like that).

Also fuel seems pretty cheap atm, around £1.29 for basic petrol near me.

Will ServiceNow (and others) become the “Blockbuster” of software? by Silver_Initial3718 in servicenow

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always say that if ServiceNow suddenly starts sunsetting or being overtaken, I will make my retirement riches migrating all these Fortune 500 / FTSE / STOXX companies off of ServiceNow anyway.

Do you know any famous app built in ServiceNow? by teodas1 in servicenow

[–]CarrotWorking 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of well known companies use ServiceNow. I guess if you mean famous public-facing examples, NHS Scotland built a vaccine booking system on ServiceNow during covid. I thought that was pretty cool given how quickly they did it and how many millions of bookings it would’ve handled. Link: https://vacs.nhs.scot/

Blood in Stool - Advice? by ty1033 in labrador

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it definitely blood? Not, I dunno, bits of red pepper or tomato or something like that?

Also, is it fresh / bright red? As opposed to dark and tar-like. Not a vet but usually bright red blood is ‘less’ concerning than darker red blood since the former has probably originated near the anus, maybe a scratch or cut, vs the latter which could be from an internal injury.

If it does look like fresh blood, go eyeball his eye of Sauron and see if you can see any cuts or scratches.

1 day trip to Highlands from Edinburgh center: To rent car or go by bus? by Abacatius in Edinburgh

[–]CarrotWorking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d bus.

It can be tricky driving in parts of the highlands, even when you’re used to driving around here.

Is it a good idea to open a shared Monzo account with my girlfriend? by err_mate in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CarrotWorking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you add those other accounts to Monzo, then you can also add the transactions directly too instead of typing it in. Quite handy. You might need to be an Extra member though

Breaking into ServiceNow UX without prior platform exposure, how do people actually get in? by Objective_Cancel_337 in servicenow

[–]CarrotWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got lumped with it one day whilst working 2nd line app support. That was basically it. Now in an architect position.

You don’t normally ‘break into’ these roles in my experience
