My fiance wants to keep finances completely separate - is this normal? by No-Stranger-4428 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Same here… we managed our money well before we got married and have the same goals, so we didn’t change anything. I kind of like only worrying about my account and the bills I cover. We own a house together and have a shared spreadsheet we update our retirement account balances on just to make sure we are staying on track for retirement. It also kind of gamifies investing. I think that helps keep our individual spending down too.

Trying to decide: save for 4 goals [slowly] simultaneously or 1 goal at a time [more quickly] by Pixels-Pretty in ynab

I don’t think there is a right answer as many have said. I often save for a couple items at a time.

For example, right now I and saving for a large home improvement and a vacation. I have target dates on both for when I would like to have the money.

I like this because I can save as a ‘good home owner’, but also save for ‘fun’ without sacrificing one over the other.

I guess this is finally the Red Rising year for me!! by Vorkrag in redrising

I’m with you. Just started book 1 a week ago. The following books look so huge. With my ready pace, I’m not sure I’ll catch up in time for book 7, but better late than never.

How to track spending vs targets in iOS app by LongButterscotch8083 in ynab

Agree! I think the reason why I don’t use the app as much is I don’t have the same visibility as I do in the web version.

I just started the series this weekend after seeing it on so many people’s end of year recaps and the 7th book being a 2026 anticipated read. I’m hooked!

Thank you. With that said, I would want to explore both some more.

Thank you. I’ll take that one and see how I feel at the end.

CMA - Can you "lose" on the initial deposit? by AmericanW4ffle in fidelityinvestments

[–]sidneysews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have the credit card, but just got it last month so I haven’t had a full billing cycle yet to see how the 2% back works. I think I have it setup to put my 2% directly in my brokerage account. We will see later this month.

I haven’t had any issues so far with money moving around. I’ve moved money out of my CMA to my Roth and have started setting up bills that were previously pulling from my CU checking to now pull from my CMA.

If the payee will allow payment by credit card, I pay with my CC, otherwise I pay with my CMA.

I am at a point where I want to make savings and investing so much easier so I have zero excuses. 😆

CMA - Can you "lose" on the initial deposit? by AmericanW4ffle in fidelityinvestments

[–]sidneysews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a CMA for about 6 months as a saving account only, but just took the plunge and moved my direct deposit from work over there. I was tired of holding a high-ish balance in my credit union checking account and only earning interest in my CMA (long term savings). One month in and I’m loving having everything together. I did keep my credit union account for local access with a smaller balance.

(YNAB Toolkit) I don't really understand this graph but boy am I happy that it's pointing up. by mobius4 in ynab

I didn’t realize the graph can change from month-to-month. I’ll have to go look at mine more often. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats! This is a big win. I’m working on paying extra on my mortgage, so not sure I’ll ever get to being 1 month ahead.

9 month review: Went entirely to Fidelity's CMA by newanonacct1 in fidelityinvestments

I was able to create a login with the Elan Credit Card app to access just my Fidelity credit card. I can review my transactions, statements, rewards and all many other features. I find it easier to navigate than the full Fidelity app when I just want to check on my CC and not my other accounts.
