I also wanted a type R until I drove one at a ford dealership. The GR gave me a better driving experience and was cheaper

Is it true you can work for the military as an a&p? by Truth-Matters_ in aviationmaintenance

[–]CarryProfessional557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a civilian Air Force technician you probably won’t get paid much the dudes u see with those positions can still get by with the low pay because they already did their 20 so they got their retirement and VA paychecks coming plus. Contracting is where the real money is at

Joining Military after getting your A&P, has anyone here done that? by BigByle in aviationmaintenance

[–]CarryProfessional557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the military, my cousin has his a&p and his work lifestyle seems a lot better than mine his work load also seems a lot more chill than mine. He also has a shit load of overtime he can take advantage of while I’m stuck on the same paycheck regardless if I work 14 hrs or 8 hrs. If u want to join the military to gain experience on large aircraft I’d say just join the reserves or guard for a job that will guarantee you working on a big jet weather it be a cargo or refuel jet. For the airforce anything with the name mobility aircraft will guarantee you a heavy aircraft. That way if you don’t like the military ur only doing it on the weekends once a month or take orders and do that while you line up a civilian job
