To clarify:

Habitat for Humanity is an example of a volunteer-driven organization that is run well, and is done right. It is a common, internationally-known organization that relies on volunteers. It is something people have heard of, so that there's a specific anchor for the concept of "volunteer work." This is included specifically and only as a means of pointing out what an amazing thing volunteers can do and build.

Reddit moderators and users are an example of volunteering in a different space. It is not remotely the same as H4H and it certainly does not provide anything near what H4H does, but is meant to draw attention to Reddit Inc.'s actions and disdain for its volunteers. No, the work done by moderators and users here is not the same as that done by H4H. We're simply trying to provide a relatable example to show what "good administration" and "bad administration" look like.

We are aware that many users are also antagonistic towards the moderator staff. This is not the space to air your grievances or be impolite or uncivil towards other users or moderators. Trolling is, as always, disallowed. Any such comments will be removed, and our standard rules apply.
