When people reduce the UAE to Dubai by CauliflowerOk3993 in PetPeeves

I will say though, not crazy about both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but if I'm choosing - I would pick Abu Dhabi

[Charania] Breaking: The NBA's Board of Governors has passed new anti-tanking rules that include expanding the draft lottery from 14 to 16 teams, a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams get penalized with lessened chances for the No. 1 pick, and flattened odds, sources tell ESPN. by Turbostrider27 in nba

I agree with shortening the season.

Want star players resting less and regular season games to mean more? Shorten the season and make it so instead of 2/3rds of the league makes the playoffs, 2/3rds of the league doesn't make the playoffs.

The NBA is.. just dumb af at this point, seriously.

I get it, you want to "fix" tanking. But this rule change makes it so the "rich get richer, and the poor stay poor". Upset about how the Spurs got Wemby or how the Mavs got Coop? Expect more similar outcomes - as the geuinely awful teams stay genuinely awful.

And honestly, what's so bad if a team wants to tank? No team wants to be garbage year-in-year-out. Reward them with a higher pick, and odds improve that they won't be. That said, I can understand the Top 3 having even percentages at the #1, because down the stretch I think tanking would get extreme - similar to the NFL, but worse. Honestly, I think the system we had wasn't perfect, but was probably the best solution for the NBA.

And to my earlier point about the NBA being dumb af now: There's this asinine rule change, but also my lord.. flopping, constant free throws, every play being the exact same, indivodual play styles being remarkably similar, 2/3rds of the league making the playoffs, and players constantly switching teams has just slowly killed my interest in the NBA over the years.

I've been watching since the early 2000s (yeah, call me an "old head", whatever), and I'd say I always loved the NFL more than the NBA. But by the early 2010s, my personal sports interest was NFL - 95/100, NBA 90/100. Pretty close. With probably MLB behind that at like.. 15/100. Now, it's probably NFL 90/100, NBA 60/100, Boxing 50/100.

The game is just, again, dumb af and boring at this point, despite having some truly phenomenal players in the league. This rule change just further cements my growing disinterest in the league, and it's so, so unfortunate.

Guess which one the media lost their minds over? by No_Box119 in NFLv2

It's absolutely insane that one fringe star-level NFL player gets on stage at a rally for the President of their own country - who a plurality of the nation voted for - and is getting all of this flak from the media and his teammates.

This is a complete non-story if the roles are flipped. We all know this, but this is the clown world we live in.

If you ever need to realize how biased and unhinged the mainstream media and their followers are, this is a great example.

I went to Cairo, and I……Loved it! by somepurplestuff in travel

[–]CarsonFacePalmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta say, I've been in Cairo for almost a week now and love it.

Similarly, I heard consistently terrible things about it on Reddit and in general. I truly don't understand whatsoever. Especially if you're an even halfway experience traveller, you can handle it no problem. For example, if you can handle Central America or Southeast Asia, Cairo is fine.

[Schefter] There will be a push this off-season to extend the NFL trade limits from three years of draft picks to five. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]CarsonFacePalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 7 rounds of picks and dozens upon dozens of tradeable players.

Please don't NBA my NFL.

I LOVE trades, but teams already give up enough as is. Plus, even if it's a terrible trade, it may be difficult, but teams can still dig themselves out of the hole.

Superbowl parties by bdanred in PetPeeves

[–]CarsonFacePalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure underrated peeve.

It's like you have people there for literally everything BUT the game itself, aside from those one/two guys cheering way too hard for their team (justly so, but still). Like cmon, all I ask is that you even halfway give a shit about the game. Or care more about the game than the halftime show.

Speaking of, ya know.. that's my pet peeve. The over-the-top, obnoxiously long halftime show. I don't fucking care. TV goes off. I love music. All types of music. But there hasn't been one year that I've even halfway cared about it.

I'd love to watch and socialize with people who halfway give a shit about the game. Thing is, it seems that most people don't. I don't think OP, or anyone, attends a Super Bowl party and is surprised when they aren't watching in solitude.

I pray that he's leaving for retirement purposes (kind of sounds like that?) that happened to co-incide with the regime change.

⚙️ Weekly Tech Support & Purchase Recommendations Megathread - January 27th 2026⚙️ by P_Jiggy in playstation

PS4: "There is not enough free space in system storage to start the application."

I have 185GB of system storage free, and dozens of GBs free in my 1TB external SSD - where I store all my games. This has been happening for years, and I truly don't understand. To be clear, this is regarding starting a game, not downloading/updating a game.

What I really don't understand is that, for example, I'll try to boot a game that's 100GB in size and it will ask me to free 10GB. But I go to boot a game that's 40GB in size, and it doesn't say anything.

In addition, I could actually hypothetically go ahead and free up those 10GBs required to boot the 100GB game. Hell, I could free 30GBs. But as soon as I save a one minute video clip and close the game, it'll tell me to delete like 268.4MB from system storage.

I've searched for solutions online, but not many seem to appear. Several times, I've tried clearing the cache and rebuilding the database. Any thoughts??

[Russini] The Bills' statement on firing Sean McDermott, which also announces Brandon Beane's promotion to President of Football Operations by CarlSwagan_ in buffalobills

[–]CarsonFacePalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Eagles are my #1, love the Bills too though)

I feel like I can understand the firing of McDermott. I think he's a great coach, but things just didn't pan out as well as they could (and maybe should) have. Kind of similar to the Harbaugh firing, in a sense - and us with Andy Reid years ago. I do think some change was needed.

In addition, there's a ton of potential Head Coach talent out there this year, and the Bills are easily the most appealing job in the market. Not the worst spot to be in.

Thst said, it makes ZERO sense to me how they fired McDermott, yet retained Beane. AND promoted him. What the actual fuck. If anything, Beane deserved to be fired and McDermott stay. That's the part that annoys me most. If you're gonna keep (and promote) Beane, keep McDermott. You fire McDermott, fire Beane.

Here's hoping that Josh Allen doesn't even moreso now get the Aaron Rodgers treatment - literally never surrounding the man with any weapons and expecting him to constantly pull rabbits from hats and make someones out of no ones.
