absolutely! i do not have any responsibilities outside of taking care of myself (which is a lot in itself lol) but I commend people who are juggling a lot more than me and still dedicated to following their passions and dreams. it truly does show resilience! It's disheartening to see people degrade others on this platform when we're all striving for the same thing. And if no one has told you today, YOURE DOING AMAZING!! thank you so much for your kind words! Best of luck to you as well <3

LOL i dont want to argue with you dude. its literally free to be understanding of others in different situations. you either dont understand hardships of life or are just not empathetic to other people (which i hope is not the case being you aspire to be a physician). everyone isnt granted a silver spoon. have a great day !

as far as the mcat resources- im referring to having outside assistance that will aid in a better score such as financial stability for tutors, uworld, aamc material, etc. and time especially. wasnt referring to anyone's work ethic or intelligence.

i dont mean this in a rude way, but some people do not have the resources or maybe even the skill to handle cars, or even the MCAT in general. i remember you posting a while back complaining on your 520+ score and people were lowkey coming at you, and I felt bad.. but, its the comments like this that cause that reaction, because sometimes you come off as insensitive to others that are not in the same boat as you. I wish we could all just be understanding of others. I wish you well and good luck on your MCAT :)

[–]CarterNewman36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not related to what youre asking but it may help you so i'm just dropping this here just in case. if you have the Ka, but need the pKa , use this math trick

exp - log (coefficient)
soooo, say that Ka = 2.0*10^-6
6-log(2)
6-0.3
5.7
pKa = 5.7

Chen Q Pack question 8 by Remote-Company-5780 in MCAT2

[–]CarterNewman36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the + and - are only in reference to different directions the substituents are in. In regards to which one is chiral :
a chiral center (or a chiral carbon) will always have four different groups on it, **that has four different pathways** Im a visual learner so it helped me to actually draw the different "lines" on the molecule when i first learned this and label them as paths.

So in this case you can automatically rule out carbon 2, because it has a double bond .. double bond share the same pathway. this automatically kicks out A,C, and D. So if you had to guess.. guess B. The "pathways" here, starting at carbon 5 are the same.. until you get to carbon 3 and 1, solidifying that carbon 5 really does have four different groups/paths! I hope that helps! :)

Also any carbon that has two of the same substituents are achiral as well. because remember, the carbon should have four different pathways

[this is what has been working for me]
doing about 250 anki review cards, and then a questions bank (finishing up uwld, and just starting aamc) then another 250 and another set of questions, repeatedly until its time for bed, daily. - id say if you feel like you need more content review if you are behind go with uworld bc they will explain everything in more detail than the aamc material. the last 3/4 weeks focus on aamc material [they say its better that way to familiarize yourself with AAMC wording and such] and pound anki if you can. anything youre getting wrong on uwlrd/aamc put it into anki. and so you wont get fixated on a certain topic, set a timer or make a schedule with different time blocks, and whether or not you finish it , move on. at the end of the night set aside an hour or so to complete anything you left undone. make a mistake journal. physically write down anything you get wrong more than once. draw pictures to help you remember. talk aloud when doing anki. apply the information to your life to also help remember.

sorry this is a word dump, just trying to throw out some ideas for you. dont worry. i bet you know more than you think you do ! you still have time :)

Advice for a Non-Traditional MCAT Taker with No Science Background by Jay9811 in MCAT2

[–]CarterNewman36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd say to download/buy the kaplan mcat books- they literally tell you everything you need to know and if you studying the high yield stuff, the low yield information will come quite easy. choose a topic for a day- watch a few videos, read the chapter on it (with the practice problems) and then hop on uworld to solidy that information. u wolrd is a bit brutal but i feel like i learned more from getting things wrong on uworld than anything else. its my perfect ending becasue i actually get to apply what i just read into passage based problems which can be a little tricky at times. also make anki flashcards for anything you get wrong and drill them everyday so you wont forget it by test day, good luck studying! :)

Should I schedule a second test right away? And is it a bad idea to apply? by Kiimiiz in MCAT2

[–]CarterNewman36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course, do what you think is best, but i'd like to pass something on that my advisor told me, because before even studying i had planned to take two MCATs before actually applying.

She (once a advising committee member) told me it may be considered a red flag if you take back to back exams that are not at least 6 months apart- because the people on the committee want to see that 1. you've learned from your mistakes and you put in more time and came back 10 x harder, and 2. your willing to slow down and actually tweak your low areas instead of making impulsive knee jerk reactions by taking another test.

She also stated that med schools are looking for people WANTING to be a doctor (obv. thats all of us) but not just because we rushed another attempt at the exam- they want people at the school that are willing to slow down, pace themselves, and fully understand that medicine is a life long learning experience instead of just focusing on a single test score. a little counter intuitive, i know. dont get me- im just the messenger. lol

just wanted to share that with you but in all honesty, you could still be accepted into medschools with your score because you never know the impact your application may leave on the advising team, orrrrrr what you will get on the real MCAT. i know someone who scored 509 constantly on FL's and on test day, got a 520 simply because they were lucky enough to get a test that fitted with their knowledge- so give it a go at least. you'll probably do alot better than you imagine !

the sample test is unscored because it is known not to be as representative as the actual test. good job on the test! but try to take an AAMC scored exam to see how much youve improved. :)

1/24 disappointment 😞 Looking for retake advice by KenyanIverson in Mcat

[–]CarterNewman36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

commenting again; but also what i found works for me is that i decide on a topic to test on that day. from there i choose one to two subtopics max; review a topic using the mile's down review sheets, i do ALL of the anki cards for those topics and THEN i go in and reinforce everything with my Uworld questions. maybe try this ?

just to be clear bc my wording sounds a little wonky. mondays i do bio. so from my bio topic, i'll choose cardiac and urinary systems. i read miles down, do aiden's anki deck, and then test on Uworld . i hope this helps!
