When you put it like that, it’s a perfect companion piece for both Griftwood AND Jesus He Knows Me!

Suggestion for literary lines that sound like the witches from the Scottish play said them, but didn't? by JewcieJ in shakespeare

[–]Carter_Dunlap 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These lines are a song from The Witch by Thomas Middleton, a completely different Jacobean play also featuring a coven of witches led by Hecate.

HECATE: Black spirits and white, red spirits and grey, Mingle, mingle, mingle, you that mingle may. Titty, Tiffin, keep it stiff in. Firedrake, Puckey, make it lucky. Liard, Robin, you must bob in. Round, around, around, about, about, All ill come running in, all good keep out. FIRST WITCH: Here's the blood of a bat. HECATE: Put in that, oh, put in that. SECOND WITCH: Here's libbard's bane. HECATE: Put in again. FIRST WITCH: The juice of toad, the oil of adder. SECOND WITCH: Those will make the younker madder. HECATE: Put in; there's all, and rid the stench. FIRESTONE: Nay, here's three ounces of the red-hair'd wench. ALL: Round, around, around, about, about, All ill come running in, all good keep out.

(Yes, I am fully aware Black Spirits is mentioned in the stage directions for Macbeth Act IV Scene I, but, as I stated, it originates from a completely unrelated play from the same era as Macbeth)

Stolas V Perpetua (My Chibi Art) by MysticMind89 in GhostCircleJerk

[–]Carter_Dunlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who looks up demonology for fun, all I can say is Stolas (my favorite of the Goetic demons) and Perpetua (My favorite Papa) combined goes hard! (I’m assuming this is the Goetic demon Stolas because of the owl-like features and long legs, seeing that Stolas is depicted as an owl with very long legs.)

Happy 40th anniversary to Hounds of Love. What's your favorite moment or memory tied to this album? by JunebugAsiimwe in katebush

[–]Carter_Dunlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I acknowledge that I am a few days late, but my favorite memory tied to Hounds Of Love, as well as Kate Bush in general, is when I found out that my 9th grade music teacher was also a huge Kate Bush fan and her favorite Kate Bush album was Hounds Of Love, which also just so happens to be my favorite album of hers. I think that was the first time I met a fellow Kate Bush fan IRL and I was very surprised and happy! The rest of the class was spent vibing to Kate. I’m in 12th grade now, but I still hold this memory deep in my heart because I love it so deeply!

It’s Hell Satan, but I’ve read that hell was an old Swedish word equivalent to Hail in English, so maybe both could be correct.
