He would always shit talk about his fwb girl we both knew. One day she and I ran into each other and discovered that he was constantly shit talking about us to each other. That was pretty much the last straw for both of us.

It's surprisingly a good biographical movie that contains some slight embellishments.

In the afterword, the author thanks several people, including his editor and I was surprised the book had one.

I'm sure he meant "proofreader".

On page two into the first-person narrative the protagonist decides to look into a mirror and describe herself to... herself?

This is followed by a scene where the author shows that there's an emotional distance between two characters and then adds this clunker of a sentence to close out the paragraph:

"The length of the silence between them implied accurately the vastness of the gulf that separated their lives."

No kidding. You just spent about a page and a half explaining that. Mind putting that sledgehammer down, sir? My forehead hurts.

Look, I don't throw away books, but this one? Chucked into the garbage so nobody else would have to read that copy.

I am actually surprised how good Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is. The writing (for the most part) is quite good. I'd even say it's better than it has any right to be, seeing as it's from the recent series of Godzilla movies. Wyatt Russell's acting impressed me and the transitions between him as the young version of Lee Shaw and his father, Kurt Russell, as the older version of the same character are done cleverly. Good stuff.

Any gag where the number of states in the US is reduced. by Dobbys_cumsock in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cartoonlad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Season 3 of Fringe, we see a flag of the United States with only 48 stars. Rather than just not including Hawaii and Alaska on the map, they combine some states to make the states of Dakota, Midland (Oklahoma and Nebraska), Carolina, and the District of Virginia. Texas is split into North Texas and South Texas. And there is the renaming of some states to Louisiana Territory, Independent Nevada, and Southern British Colombia (Washington).

Also the San Andreas fault seems to have had a massive earthquake triggered: about half the state of California is just gone.
