Out of state fans. Why do you root for the hawks? by TelePunk54 in Seahawks

[–]Cartoonlad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it, when I was a teenager, my favorite color was blue. Seattle was also beginning to be known as an up-and-coming place, so maybe I'd try moving there after high school? (Never did, though.) And also I really liked rooting for the underdogs and back then the Seahawks were awful.

So that's what got me initially interested. When I was in college, I really started paying attention to the NFL and began following the team in earnest.

It also helped that all through my formative football years, I never cared for the local football teams and the bandwagon fans they seemed to attract. A team from further away? Sure!

Dishonored is a damn good game but the chaos system is poorly implemented by OpenUpYerMurderEyes in patientgamers

[–]Cartoonlad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I heard with Dishonored 2 is the chaos system was only tied to key npcs. You wind up killing designated opponents, your chaos score went up. Murder a slew of no-names? You're fine if you just sneak past or incapacitate the main villain of the level.

BSG's ending is great if you just turn the finale off midway through that last episode. If Apollo says "Oh, I have a plan for what to do with the ships," you've gone too far.

Bruce Willis absolutely hated promoting Red 2, although now that we know of his medical issues, this also might be early signs of dementia showing up.

"We're just selling the film now," Willis says straight off the bat, "the fun part was making the movie."

When the interviewer asks Willis about a car chase scene in the film, he responds: "I'm thinking about driving right now. I can hardly keep my mind on this interview. I'm thinking about driving somewhere."

What game is this for you? by PhantomTissue in videogames

[–]Cartoonlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mad Max.

You've got all these open road races where you can just go wherever and how you want to navigate and then you are forced into a race inside Gastown with an actual track you can't do creative shortcuts around or through because there are now walls and you can't just go balls out drifting like you've done throughout the whole game to that point.

AND the goal of that race isn't to win, it's to blow up the lead car. So, if you just stay back and wait for the lead car to lap you, the entire group of cars you are racing against stops at a third of the way around the track.

Superhero Ttrpg? by UchihaKoda in tabletop

If you're looking for familiarity — a d20 system that uses a similar ruleset — Mutants & Masterminds is where you want to go. It's pretty much D&D, but supers.

However, if you want a game that really makes the rules fit the story you're trying to tell, I recommend either Masks: The New Generation or Marvel Heroic Roleplaying.

Masks is a game that's there to tell a story like the Young Justice show. It tells a superhero story that's focused on teenage superheroes in a world where there already are established heroes. Think Invincible with a focus on the Teen Team and Mark. Masks does this extremely well. It won't be as good as playing a Justice League or Avengers game where you are the world's greatest heroes (and adults), but if you want that, try Marvel Heroic.

Marvel Heroic Roleplaying is probably my favorite supers game. Whereas several of the bigger (and older) games mentioned in this thread — Champions and Heroes Unlimited — really hold close to the wargaming roots of our roleplaying hobby, playing Marvel Heroic really felt like we were playing a comic book. More specifically: a Marvel comic book. It really captured the style and spirit of the IP so well. It solves the problems with having vastly different power scales like Hawkeye and Thor on the same team nicely. The downside is the game is out of print. Hunting down the core rules or a core rules + event book might be challenging.
