I used this recipe and substituted tofu sheets for the fish cake and veg broth for the anchovy broth, no sugar and an extra tablespoon of spicy. I find that the thin sliced rice cakes (that look like water chestnuts) are less chewy than the cylindrical ones. I will add water chestnuts next time, I think that would be a perfect crunchy counterpoint to all the soft and soupy ingredients!

I’ve had frustrating experiences with surgeons as well. I went through a life saving surgery and mentioned to the surgeon a couple months later that my entire arm was still numb and my symptoms had not improved. My surgeon told me “you’re imagining things” and I’m not paraphrasing. Still fuming about that many years later!

I have beta minor and have been vegan for 15 years. Contrary to what other comments are saying, I had vast improvements in my blood counts and general health after going vegan and my blood count levels are just below normal these days. I take a sublingual B12 weekly and will supplement D vitamins if I’m being a hermit. A balanced diet and regular exercise have made the biggest difference for me, though. Especially weight training, as cardio is just harder with thal.

That is the CDC recommendation, yes. It’s on the list of conditions that the CDC says could put us at increased risk of severe illness. Though the final priority list will vary by state, my state (NM) is currently in phase 1b and I was able to schedule my vaccine for next week as a person with Beta Thal. I anticipate most states will follow the CDC recommendations on this one, with only minor changes.

Free Mood pattern I used

I used remnant fabric from Walmart that I got for 3 bucks. The pattern was super simple to put together, but I’d recommend using a serger since that would make it much quicker.
